There is not national certification for dog or pet groomers. However there are a few independent organizations that give out certifications for dog grooming.

Is there a licensing entity in AL?  I am still looking.  There must be a way to make a report of this terrible occurrence.

I have never seen any licenses hanging at any groomer here. I think the shop has a business license but that's it. Poor Mac is on his bed and won't leave it. He has trusted me totally and now looks at me like I have betrayed him. The only thing they didn't lie about was the fees but for $80.00 they always dried him...I have a feeling they just hosed him off and handed him back.

I am so sad for Mac.   I can find no evidence that groomers need to be licensed.   Maybe the BBB would be a recourse?
Of course the first order of business is loving Mac back to himself.

This is just wrong all the way around.

He won't let me look at his feet..he has them tucked under him and isn't handing them over as he usually does so I think they hurt him. He wouldn't even play with his 2 x 4 and he's always up for that.

They did admit to cutting one nail too close, making it bleed, if I am reading you right.

They did not follow instructions and did not dry him as agreed to.

I would have a big issue with this shop. I would ask for compensation. They should not charge you for the bath, as they did not follow through with the procedure as agreed to.

They hurt your dog and they should not charge for that either. In fact, they should pay for any vet/first aid treatment Mac needs/gets.

I would stop payment if it is possible. Let them know why, and come to some agreement with the shop.

Then I would find another place to get baths and nails trimmed.

again, I have read enough to get caught up on this thread and now am going to bed..we are finally out of the sold home except for just a few things...all cleaned and ready for the new owner except the cleaning crew messed up a wall in the bathroom while cleaning it so I have to have the painter back over to fix that! always something...tired of moving and will be glad when my life gets back to boring mode...

4Donks...you have every right to be upset with that place that you took Mac to..they should have dried him off at the very least..he must have been so cold..and his nail must hurt!

Took Mac for his bath and nail trim at 7 this morning. I didn't recognize anyone and was told ownership had changed but they were keeping the same fees. I went over with them that he needed to be completely dried before I picked him up. Regular nail trim and that was it. No clipping or grooming just a bath and dry with nails.

I always pay before they bring him out because he just wants out of there when he sees me. I unlocked the car and they brought him out and put him in the car....he was soaking wet and had not been dried at all. No way was he going back in there so I drove home and on the way noticed blood on the seat. His one nail was bleeding.I have the powder at home that stops the bleeding and locked him in the shower with my hair blower.

Called the groomer and was told no one knew he was suppose to be dried and sorry about the nail.I even gave the name and description of the lady I went over the instructions with and she apparently denied it. Now this is the kicker....they charged $80.00 for the bath and $15.00 for the nail trim. Poor Mac is hiding and I feel awful about his day. Canceled Beela and Jazz.....can you imagine the 2 of then soaking wet in the car and house.

 I am livid that Mac (who was abused ) had to go through this.

4 donks I am livid too!!!! The groomers at the PetLodge would never send a dog out wet and definitely would use that septic powder to stop the bleeding. Plus if any dog ever accidentaly gets hurt in the grooming room, a vet is there immediately to treat it (free of charge). OMG I can't imagine paying 80 dollars for a bath and extra for nails. Bring them to VCA Pet Lodge and it is $35 for the Furminator treatment and nails are not extra.

4 Donks, I pray he interacts with the rest of the pack. Give him love and care. Seriously you are not over protective. If it had been Josef, I would have marched my butt right back in and given then a good old fashion Texas whoop azz.

Joe got a bath, nails yesterday, their dryers went out and I came to pick him up. I was fine that he was a little damp, they told me the reasoning and asked if I wanted to wait. He just had a few wet spots, but wasn't soaking wet.

That is just crazy they didnt dry him or even fix the nail. I am going to ask my groomer tomorrow about this because I don't know where you live they have to have certification, but I do know that the head groomer goes on CME trips so she must be certified in something. Will let you know tomorrow. Prayers to all the critters

Morning all...hubs has decided to stay home with me today instead of going to work! he will be off tomorrow and Friday as well..   that will be a huge help...hanging some more pictures today...furniture for kitchen gets delivered today sometime..they never let you know what time...4 hr window usually...grrrrr

What is on everyone's agenda for Christmas ? family coming to visit? you going somewhere?
Kids and family are coming over Christmas Eve for treats and presents in the afternoon..then we are going to Son and Daughter in Law's home on Christmas Day...glad that the DIL's have stepped up and are taking some of  the holidays...makes it nice for me!

Awww, CC, I am so sorry you have to wait a few extra days for christmas.  If you get extremely lonely give me a shout, my big rowdy, silly, a bit eccentric, eclectic, and loving family is getting together in Elgin on christmas day.................We have always had an open door policy for any/all 'holiday orphans'.
