Klaas:

I know I'm the new kid on the block and all.  But I think if I had my choice, I'd rather be a moderator than to pick up banana peels.  Although I've never tried either one.  But, lately, I've been spending alot of time on the front page anyway.  I just wouldn't want anyone to know that I was a moderator.  They might think that I'm monitoring anyone that might disagree with me.  Which brings up another question... can they continue to post on the front page.  That's where I like to play.

Klaas... do moderators have to stay on the forum more or less constantly, or just come in at different times and check on things? I never have understood that.

If there were say 3 moderators, they can take turns.  Note, I go to the store and work, etc and often nobody is around.  You don't need to be watching at all times, especially when slow.  It's nice to have someone watching though.

Klaas you are so fast when you go to the store that when you leave and come back there are only 3 post Laughing   We should call you Klaas the Flash.

Well yeah, I am kindof fast, lol  Laughing

San ,When we were small we had a duck that used to run to the front yard because she knew we were coming home from school and she would be so excited to see us.  This is a true story.

I can believe that San. Some animals are so smart.

Ok I am calling it a night. So good night all.

I'll be right back.  I'm gonna go and post a comment about that pot of stew.

I'll do anything you all want me to do... well almost anything.

Tom - thanks for all of your work in bringing the new forum to us!

Glad to see the Atlanta Lunch Bunch had a great time.

SB - hugs to you, and hopes that everything smooths out.

Hugs to our monkeys ungoing chemo and/or radiation.

Another fatal accident in Aruba this morning.  I expect it will be in tomorrow's papers....

Yep, Klaas.    I think there were a total of something like 14 in 2005 and about the same in 2006.  None in January or February but now it is either 3 or 4 already in March.

My mistake - the accident by the drive-in area was February.  Where the mustang ran under the bus.

Odd because you would think there might be more in January with Carnival and all.  Didn't Carnival last from January - February 22nd or something like that?  The fatal accidents all came after Carnival were over.

sleuth - Do you know anything recent about an 11-yr-old girl who is missing (possibly parental abduction), or a 17-yr-old boy who is missing - both of these on Aruba?

Diario articles about both are on the last page of the M&C thread.

Thanks.

I know this is a dumb question...being all this time has passed...but, does Aruba have anything that is similar to seasons?  Is it always the same climate there?

http://aruba.caribbeanway.com/weather.asp

weather varies significantly from its Caribbean counterparts due to its southwestern location. Though tropical, meaning that temperature varies little here between seasons, Aruba weather is also very dry. Its 'rainy' season consists of brief shower bursts that rarely last long or appear for several days in a row. Aruba weather doesn't include the humidity that other islands do either, making it one of the driest locales in the region. This also spares it from the hurricane paths which sometimes swath across the Leeward chain. As a result, Aruba weather is beautiful, though unchanging, throughout the year - an average of 82 degrees prevails almost twelve months of the year. Nighttime Aruba weather is seldom more than 3-5 degrees from that of the day. Aruba weather is so constant, in fact, that local newspapers public weather reports only occasionally, on the odd day when Aruba weather isn't sunny and warm.

Trade winds blow nearly constantly in Aruba, tempering the scorching effect of the hot tropical sun and making Aruba weather (especially at the beach!) very easy to handle. Sunscreen should be worn at all times, however, as Aruba weather can be almost deceivingly pleasant at times - rays are strongest during the late morning and early afternoon.
