FOX NEWS: Joran will plead Guilty to murdering Stephany, and claim temporary insanity.

"..temporay insanity".  Freakin' psychopathic murderer, more like it.  I hope they can show premeditation.

You got that right Muffy.  The article Klaas posted says if the plea is accepted he could get 3-5 years.  NO WAY.  Surely they will NOT let him get by with this using insanity.  Only good thing is the U.S. gets him next if that is the case.  Surely they will make his up to 35 years stand. Surely.

From what I understand there's all the matter of theft of Stephany's property.  Anything that add years to his sentence works for me, including being charged for being butt ugly. JMHO  I'm hoping for the murder charge (premeditated) for starters.

Nativelingo posted some interresting information about Joran early this morning:

1.  Joran has/had emotional problems and is a patient of a local pediatric/juvenile psychiatrist (fact).
2.  The incident where Joran killed his dog and blamed it on someone else is fact
3.  That bullying friends and the dog issue are the least of Joran's problems (according to reliable sources)
4.  His HOBBY is Criminal Law (fact)

http://www.scaredmonkeys.net/viewtopic.php?p=83858&highlight=pediatric+paediatric#83858 (link will no longer work, from old forum)

I have no doubt that Natalee was a victim of Joran's rage as well.

I have no doubt either.

3-5 Years will NOT be justice for Stephany!

It's time he learned there are consequences for his actions, BIG ones.  I'd hoped he was going to learn that in Peru.  I'm still hoping.

Top Story on AOL News.

Very much like all the others.

http://www.aolnews.com/2011/03/07/report-joran-van-der-sloot-offers-to-plead-guilty-to-slaying-fo/?ncid=webmail

Report: Van der Sloot Offers to Plead Guilty for Lesser SentenceMar

Joran van der Sloot, the Dutchman long suspected in the disappearance of U.S. teen Natalee Holloway, is offering to plead guilty in the slaying of a Peruvian woman in exchange for a reduced sentence, according to The Associated Press.

Van der Sloot's attorney, Maximo Altez, said his client is willing to plead guilty to the May 30 killing of Stephany Flores, but will plead "violent emotion," the AP reported.

::snipping2::.Flores, a Peruvian business student, was found dead in van der Sloot's hotel room in Lima on June 2. Van der Sloot has been charged with first-degree murder and robbery in the case. He has been held in a Peruvian prison since his arrest in June. Van der Sloot is also a longtime suspect in the 2005 disappearance in Aruba of Holloway, an 18-year-old from Alabama.

Altez said van der Sloot became enraged and killed Flores because she had used his laptop to look up information on the Holloway case, according to the AP.

"I did not want to do it," van der Sloot allegedly told police, according to a Peruvian newspaper report published shortly after his arrest. "The girl intruded into my private life. ... We argued, and she tried to escape. I grabbed her by the neck, and I hit her."

Last week, prosecutors in Peru said there is sufficient evidence in Flores' slaying to keep van der Sloot behind bars until 2040. If van der Sloot's plea is accepted, he would face three to five years in prison.

Investigators believe Flores was killed on May 30, 2010 -- exactly five years after Holloway disappeared. The Alabama teen's body has never been found, and van der Sloot has never been charged in her disappearance. He was indicted in the U.S. on charges that he extorted $25,000 from the young woman's parents. Prosecutors said that in exchange for the money, he promised to reveal how Holloway died and the location of her body.

You've got that right MuffyBee!

This was a heinous crime, he didn't just beat her and leave her...he even said she was still breathing so he MADE SURE she was dead.  And he robbed her.  I do believe it was premeditated, everyone close to him knew he was desperate for money.  They should be able to prove the contacts he made in the days before begging for money.  They wouldn't send it so he found a way to get what he wanted.  As usual.

Joran Van der Sloot To Plead Guilty in Death of of Stephany Flores in Peru … To Plead Temporary Insanity

http://scaredmonkeys.com/2011/03/07/joran-van-der-sloot-to-plead-guilty-in-death-of-of-stephany-flores-in-peru/

Quote
Joran Van der Sloot is supposed to plead guilty in the death of Stephany Flores in Peru. According to his attorney, Joran Van der Sloot acted in a fit of rage and will plead guilty of manslaughter. As per Peruvian law, manslaughter in a fit of rage carries a sentence of 3 to 5 years, rather than 30 years for murder. Van der Sloot’s  attorney, Maximo Altez, stated that Joran will plead insanity

Temporary insanity ... how about not being able to take no for an answer from a girl?

"There was blood everywhere," van der Sloot said in the transcripts. "What am I going to do now. I had blood on my shirt. There was also blood on the bed, so, I took my shirt and put it on her face, pressing hard, until I killed Stephany."

 ::snipping2::

An attorney for Holloway's mother, Beth Twitty, said she considered the planned plea "outrageous." Twitty knows the Flores family will never accept it and she plans to "make whatever noise she has to" to make sure it doesn't happen, the lawyer, John Kelly, added.

"He's a very slippery, smart criminal," Kelly said of Van der Sloot, adding that any suggestion he "flipped out for a moment" in killing Flores was mocked by the meticulous calculation of his attempt to cover up the crime and his escape.

Kelly also emphasized that even if Peruvian justice were to go easy on Van der Sloot he still faces prosecution in the United States on wire fraud and extortion charges.

An Alabama grand jury indicted the Dutchman in June for allegedly trying to extort $250,000 from Twitty in exchange for information on where she could find her daughter's body.

According to court papers, Van der Sloot received a total of $25,000 a few weeks before Flores' death — money it is believed he used to travel to Peru.

From his original confession
 ::snipping2::
She hit me in the head. I lost control of my actions. I didn't know what I was doing. I remember what I was doing, but not the motive. It was an impulsive act after receiving a blow to the head," van der Sloot said in a signed confession to police last year.

"She was on the bed when I hit her hard with my right elbow and I think her head went back and hit the wall, then she begins to bleed," he said. "Immediately I get on top of her and with both hands I begin to strangle her, keeping her that way for a minute.

"After that, I throw her to the floor, but she keeps breathing. At that moment I take off my shirt and put it on her face, pressing on it. I don't remember for how long, but she stops breathing. In this way I think I caused her death," he said when investigators asked for a details description of the murder.

I wish I could believe you're right Wreck...but from what I've read, he would only be in general population with the "foreigners" including the Dutch that Anita is trying to help also with her website.  She's probably already started having the blonde take them food too!  He will be a celebrity since they all know how his evil mother is doing everything she can to make their time served better for them...if she can't get them all sent to the Netherlands!

I don't care rather she did or not.  What kind of insane animal kills a woman because she looks at his computer?

He was too stupido to realize the victim he had chosen for that night was financially and politically connected in that country..much more so then he in his.  Her family is a wonderful caring family..his not so much.  Her father a national hero..his a letch.

Joren picked the wrong time, place and person ..thank you God.

I don't believe she looked at the computer either.  I don't think she really cared about him or his notoriety.  Joran is a legend in his own mind, and he tries to make it appear everyone is interested in him.  It's my belief Stephany was lured to the hotel room, possibly by the promise of collecting money she may have loaned him while they were gambling.  I don't think Stephany gave a rats arse about Sloot other than as someone else who enjoyed gambling and possibly to collect money owed to her. JORAN LAWYER TERROR

Prime suspect in the disappearance of NATALEE HOLLOWAY, Dutch thug JORAN van der SLOOT's lawyer says translators are too scared to get close to the killer, placing his case in jeopardy.

Joran's lawyer told RadarOnline.com that translators are "too scared" to get involved with his controversial client and that the accused killer should be released if he is not questioned again with a qualified translator.

And despite local reports that say the government has completed its investigation and the public prosecutor is about to decide whether to proceed with the case or not, Peruvian lawyer Max Altez Navarro remains skeptical.

The lawyer -- who says he has received death threats -- believes that any confession van der Sloot previously made was illegal and that if he is not formally questioned again with a proper translator within 18 months of being in jail, then he should automatically be released.

Navarro said: "I applied for another extension but I have not heard anything back yet. there are still a lot of things that they need to sort out - there will be no quick trial in this case.

"I believe that the translators are too scared to take on the case; it is like a hot potato, and there are not a lot of them in Peru who can speak Dutch anyways.

"I spoke with Joran today and his spirits were good. He was exercising and he is in regular contact with his mother.

"He was not moved into the general population either and is still being held in the isolation unit where he is treated well.

"I'm limited as to what I can say because he has a Dutch lawyer working with him also - it is not easy, but we are doing our best for him."

And the dispute has been further complicated because the Dutch embassy claims it's not their responsibility to find another translator for him.

Van der Sloot has been in a Peruvian prison since June 2010, accused of murdering 21-year-old student Stephany Flores, the daughter of a prominent Peruvian businessman.

I bet Peter der Vries will be happy to take the case on and be his translator
