Don't they have any snow now?
We have two feet here

I believe they get more rain than snow in the Portland area.

FWIW it was 75 here yesterday and 80 the day before.

I look at Portland's 5-day weather forecast every few days...they get days and days and days of rainfall - very little snow (in the past few months that I've been looking at the forecast).

Wow.  Klaas.  Thanks for the maps!

A couple of thoughts from me.  I understand that messages on cellphones can be found going back 2 years.  Maybe they have waded through the bajilliion cell phone records and found some info.

Maybe they have looked at some other cars and tracked the GPS devices on their cars or the other tracking stuff on cars and got this info.

Maybe they received more videos or someone saw something in some videos that led to this.  Or maybe someone spilled some beans?

It appears that SI may have been someone carrying TH's cellphone?  They would have had to meet up again for her to get that phone back.

For the search area, it certainly looks like an area that TH could easily reach in her missing time frame.

Where are you Kyron?

« Reply #185 on: January 30, 2011, 12:57:08 PM »

7 cadaver dogs will be involved with this search.  That alone should tell you something.  I wonder if they believe Kyron was put in a container like one of those large plastic or Rubbermaid tubs?

I'm curious if they could get any forensics off "things" after all this time and how they could tie it to a specific person.

Search, canine teams renew hunt for Kyron Horman in rural Multnomah County
Published: Sunday, January 30, 2011, 9:50 AM     Updated: Sunday, January 30, 2011, 10:23 AM

Search teams have descended Sunday morning on two areas of north and west of Portland where they will resume the search for Kyron Horman.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying  that the search for Kyron Horman is underway.

Search teams include Multnomah County Search and Rescue and its partners, North Oregon Regional Search and Rescue, four regional canine search teams and Mountain Wave Communications.

Multnomah County Sheriff's deputy Eric Gustafson said authorities plan to send the canine teams in first so searchers do not contaminate the search areas. The seven total dogs on the teams are trained to pick up the scent of human remains.

"None of the searching we do is random," Gustafson said, adding that he could not comment on specifics. "We don't throw darts at a board and say, 'let's search here.' We don't say, 'We haven't searched in a while, let's go search.'"

He said it's all based on information learned during the investigation.

Wow good they are out there, although it doesn't sound like they are looking for a live Kyron. That is very sad...
I wonder if there is someone talking?

I am in google map hell right now. I am trying to find all of the area's stated in the articles. Rocky Point is far from Skyline and that community right? On my search it said it was 25 or so min, is that correct? Does anyone see a lake in that area?

It really is, a lot of winding roads and roads going off in different directions.

Kyron task force calls for West Hills search
By KATU News and KATU.com Staff

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Search & Rescue Unit is searching two spots in Portland's West Hills Sunday – at the request of the Kyron Horman Task Force.

Between 40 and 50 search-and-rescue workers, along with up to seven cadaver-detecting dogs, will be combing the dense forested area around turnouts, trail heads and gated logging roads along a stretch of Northwest Skyline Road. The search team also includes a member of the Multnomah County coroner's office, an unusual addition to the search.

From what I can gather from mapping it, Rocky Point and Skyline are north west of Sauvie.

I think this search is big.

Could they be acting on not just a tip but from a confession. Do you think they have someone in custody?

I don't think it's Northwest of Sauvie.  Let me look again.

Haven't chimed in for a while as I personally think looking at anyone but TH is fruitless.  Happy to see they are searching again.

My personal opinion has been that TH is much like CA ... just got lucky and placed the body in a place that wasn't searched immediately.  As time passed and the body wasn't found, all they had to do was pray the body decomposed quickly so time and cause of death were undeterminable and forensics were washed away.  If Kyron's body was really put in a container ... someone apparently didn't watch enough CSI!  That container not only hides body and odor of decomp ... it also preserves evidence.
