Final Vigil To Be Held For Phylicia Barnes
Family Urging Community To Come Out
April 27, 2011

 ::snipping2::
Phylicia's family is encouraging the community to attend an outdoor vigil from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at 6520 Eberle Lane at the Reisterstown Square Apartments, where the teen was last seen.

The family is asking the community to bring either a purple or white candle to light in Phylicia’s honor.

The Barnes family thanked the community for its continued support and prayers, especially those who contributed to the reward funds. Donations are still being accepted at www.findphylicia.com.

The donations will go toward the memorial and funeral costs for the teen. Those dates have not yet been set.

I still find it odd that they were both found nude.  I just can't imagine someone stripping down to commit suicide.  jmo.

I may be wrong, but I think it has something to do with how fast the currents are, if they are strong enough to remove clothes. This body of water feeds into the Chesapeake Bay, so there are strong currents.
Wasn't little Juliani and the creep that kidnapped him nude when they found their bodies in the canal in Calif.?

Apparently the male body has no connection to Phylicia. Probably a suicide.

Police identify man found dead in same river as Phylicia Barnes

MONROE, NC (WBTV) - Maryland State Police have identified the man whose body was found floating in Maryland's Susquehanna River last week, a spokesperson told WBTV.com.

Darryl Harper, 53, of Richmond, VA, was found 4 miles away from the body of Monroe honor student Phylicia Barnes April 20.

 ::snipping2::

 It was learned Harper's wife reported him missing on April 15, 2011. Harper's wife told investigators she and her husband had lived in Cheektowaga, New York until November 2009, when they moved to an apartment in Cockeysville, Md. They lived there until February 2011, when they moved to Richmond.
Harper's wife said her husband left Richmond in early March 2011, to travel to their former apartment in Cockeysville to pick up items. She said she received a call from her husband in mid- March and that was the last time she talked with him.
Mrs. Harper told investigators a relative in the Harrisburg, PA area had called to tell her Darryl Harper had checked himself into a hospital in East Penn, PA, on the Susquehanna River, on March 25, 2011, requesting help with mental health issues. Police learned he stayed in the hospital one night. According to Mrs. Harper, her husband told a relative in March he was going to jump off a bridge. She said her husband had attempted suicide in 2006.
 ::snipping2::

Oh..that is so sad for this man's family.  He even checked into a hospital himself.  Poor man..he most have been so tormented by his mental health issues.  Prayers to his family and friends.

SuzieQ thank you.  I was just about to post the local article on homicide ruling. Here's a snippet anyway and why they will not release change of ruling?

Several people involved - no signs of physical trauma or are they just not releasing the signs of physical trauma?  ???

one more article and video;  http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2011/05/05/vigil-held-for-phylicia-barnes-at-city-hall/

“They want to limit the amount of information because they want to have control over the types of tips they get in. Also to rule out possible suspects,” said criminologist Jeffrey Ian Ross.

I'm in the middle of DC and Baltimore so she's local for me even if she is from NC.  So it seems we still have a killer or killers on the loose in our neck of the woods I want em caught and jailed.

No Excuses Baltimore.  JMO.

Greg Shipley, a state police spokesman, told WJZ-TV that investigators are re-interviewing everyone who might have come in contact with Barnes the night before she disappeared. “There is new evidence and information that came as a result of finding her body and so investigators are certainly examining that,” Shipley said.

I don't remember reading this in any other article, but I may have missed it. I wonder why they are so interested in the night before she disappeared?

I had heard it on my local news but when I searched for an article I couldn't find one to post as support.  You found it, yay.  I keep thinking drugs are going to be involved in this case, JMO.  Guess we wait and see now.

If she overdosed the night before she was reported missing, than there has to be several people involved, including her sister and the sister's boyfriend. At least in knowing what happened and lying about talking to her the day she was reported missing. IMO

::snip::

Maryland state police have taken the lead on the case but continue to work with Baltimore City homicide detectives. People of interest have been interviewed and re-interviewed but police have not publicly alluded to any suspects or leads.

"There's no good news to share, other than that dedicated investigators have not given up and continue to work this case daily," said Greg Shipley, a state police spokesman. "The passage of six months is not something that's going to discourage the investigators on this case. Their efforts are continuing, and they remain enthusiastic about a successful conclusion."
