The SEX OFFENDERS should have been looked at on the FIRST DAY!!

<snipped

Abilene's Child Abduction Unit joined the investigation today, putting the number of assisting agencies at 10.

Officials continue to tell bigcountryhomepage.com they're following "substantial leads" and the search is intensifying.

Part of the investigation over the next few days is expected to center around sex offenders who live around the Dunn home.  Colorado City City Manager Pete Kampfer says the city is aggressively tracking sex offenders to make sure they know where they're located at all times.
[/u] (you think???)

"We're also following up on information that they've provided us to make sure they are where they say there are," said Kampfer.

"It's not safe (here) and this makes everybody realize it," Hailey's father, Clint Dunn, said.

IF LE has requested TES not get involved yet then I doubt that Tim will step on their toes.  Sometimes LE just wants to meet with TES first and make sure they are all on the same wave length.

Task force to bring in specialists

By Staff
Posted January 7, 2011 - 4:33pm

In a 4 p.m. press release, DPS Trooper Phillip Dean stated additional resources are being sought on an "as needed basis."

Additional agencies and officers are in Colorado City and behind the scenes in Dallas to assist.  The task force, which numbered 30 yesterday, continues to grow as officials seek specialists in certain fields.

Non uniform law enforcement teams canvassed the neighborhood around Hailey's home conducting interviews asking for assistance in locating her.

"W are asking anyone that may have information, no matter how large or small, to call the Colorado City Police Department at 325-728-5294," Pete Kampfer, city manager said.  Those interested in up to date information can visit, www.coloradocitytexas.org

Time Line: Dunn's Disappearance and Search Efforts

The following time line of events was compiled by Bigcountryhomepage.com based on information gathered each day during the search for Hailey Dunn, interviews with Hailey's mother both conducted by our reporters and by Headline News' Nancy Grace, and by reports published by other local media outlets, such as ccitynews.net.  This time line is not meant to be a point of reference, not a fact guide.

Anyone with information about Hailey Dunn is asked to contact the Colorado City Police Department at 325-728-5294.

Sunday, Dec. 26
•    Hailey spent the night with her dad, Clint Dunn, on Christmas, so the morning of Dec. 26 was the last time he saw her

Monday, Dec. 27
•    A neighbor sees Hailey talking on the phone in her backyard
•    Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn, says live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins is fired from his job after some sort of blow-up (blow up?  So Shawn looses his job and his home unexpectedly likely in a bad mood)
•    Shawn comes home at 3 p.m. (how do we know that Shawn didn't get home until 3:00, could he have been home earlier?)
•    Hailey tells him at 3:15 p.m. that she is going to her dad’s, then to Mary Beth’s for a sleepover, but neither Clint nor Mary Beth see or hear from her.  (I don't believe this and I believe this is why he failed the poly)

Tuesday, Dec. 28
•    Billie calls her son, David, and asks him to tell Hailey to come home (does the son live with the dad or was he staying with the dad?)
•    Hailey is reported missing

Wednesday, Dec. 29
•    Bigcountryhomepage.com reports the story and airs a description of Hailey, saying police are treating it as a missing person

Thursday, Dec. 30
•    A description and photo of the missing girl have been entered in the TCIC NCIC Region 5 broadcast system which covers surrounding counties. Also, the information has been put on the CopSync system providing anyone in the state with the CopSync system a picture and information on Dunn.
•    Bigcountryhomepage.com reports interim police chief John Bivens is treating the case as a runaway
•    Searches begin in Colorado City

Friday, Dec. 31
•    Bloodhounds follow Hailey’s scent through her neighborhood and to the general vicinity of the Western Suites Motel
•    Friends set up a Facebook page to spread the word
•    A donor creates a $1,000 reward

Sunday, Jan. 2
•    The reward is increased to $10,000
•    Hundreds show up for a candlelight vigil

Monday, Jan. 3
•    Nancy Grace takes Hailey’s disappearance national and interviews Billie Dunn
•    Grace and guests criticize the initial treatment of the case as a “runaway”
•    FindHaileyDunn.com is created

Tuesday, Jan. 4
•    Reward is increased to $25,000
•    Billie Dunn and Adkins planned to take a polygraph test, but were told it would have to be delayed because of the anti-anxiety medication they’d taken
•    The case is changed with “missing person”

Wednesday, Jan. 5
•    Billie Dunn, Adkins take polygraph tests.  Both fail, according to Dunn.
•    Adkins leaves town to stay with relatives
•    Dunn is interrogated for more than 10 hours
•    ABC News airs story about disappearance

Thursday, Jan. 6
•    Texas Rangers search Dunn home and seize evidence
•    DPS helicopter conducts aerial search
•    Investigators say the search is intensifying and they’re narrowing leads
•    Billie Dunn appears again on Nancy Grace, saying she was told Adkins failed the polygraph prior to her test, then failed herself.
•    Lamar unveils donated missing person billboards
•    CBS News, Fox News air stories about disappearance

Friday, Jan. 7
•    Volunteers are asked to gather at 2 p.m. at the Mitchell County Court House to begin a county-wide search
•    Law enforcement conducts door-to-door interviews in Colorado City
•    The polygraph administrator says he did not release the results to anyone

My comments in blue above.  It doesn't look good for Hailey unless she took off because Shawn scared her and she is hiding.

Could it that Shawn is being truthful in regards to his last contact with Hailey?  Did Hailey leave her home with the intention of visiting her father and then spending the night with Marybeth.  Has Hailey's father been questioned and ... has his home searched in the process of elimination?  Has members of Marybeth's family been questioned and ... has their home been searched in the process of elimination?

A little girl is missing.  All avenues must be investigated in the process of elimination.

Search intensifies for missing Colorado City teen

According to Adkins, Hailey had plans to spend the night at Mary Beth Garcia’s home the night before she was reported missing by Billie Jean Dunn.

Cecilia Garcia, Mary Beth’s mother, said Thursday that Mary Beth considers Hailey to be her best friend, but Hailey never had been to the Garcia home to spend the night. Mary Beth had spent the night at Hailey Dunn’s home once.

Cecilia Garcia said the first time she saw Billie Jean Dunn was on television, when she appeared earlier on Grace’s program to discuss her daughter’s disappearance

San Angelo woman mobilizes to help search for missing girl
By Jennifer Rios
San Angelo Standard Times

SAN ANGELO, Texas — A former Colorado City woman living in San Angelo is trying to get together a group to search for Hailey Dunn, a 13-year-old girl who went missing on the afternoon of Dec. 27.

Last seen in Colorado City, the teenager has been the object of an intensive search, with law enforcement entities and volunteers combing the area around Colorado City.

Colorado City is on Interstate 20 about 75 miles north of San Angelo.

Authorities said Dunn, who went missing the afternoon of December 27, was expected to visit her father and then spend the night with a friend. Her mother, Billie Dunn, reported her daughter missing the following day when it became clear she hadn’t made it to either location.

Melissa Jo Walker, now of San Angelo, said her plan is to car-pool to Colorado City, coordinate with the existing search team and work their way back to San Angelo, searching the areas between.

“Maybe if we could organize a group here and kind of close in on that area from this direction, who knows, maybe we could find something,” Walker said.

As someone who has searched for her own missing child, she said she feels more strongly than others might for Billie and Clint Dunn, although she doesn’t know the family personally. Her own son started running away when he was 14, she said. She remembers the first time was from a drug rehab center.

“Pain, really, is the motivator,” she said, hoping that she could help anyone avoid having to go through a similar experience. “I just remember how hard it is when your child is missing. There’s no rest, there’s no peace until you know where your child is.”

Walker said she has posted a request for volunteers on her Facebook page and the San Angelo Police Department Facebook page. So far, she only has a handful of people backing the idea.

Walker, an Angelo State University student and hairdresser at Regis Salon, said she contacted the university’s police department about sending out some sort of notice to the student body.

ASU Police Chief James Adams said he received the request and wants to get the department involved.

“We do intend to do what we can to help her,” Adams said Friday afternoon.

After he and Walker discuss the actual text of the message, he hopes to post it on the school’s Facebook page, Twitter page and on RamPort, ASU’s portal that sends out e-mail announcements and emergency notifications.

Those wanting to get involved in a search can e-mail Melissa Walker at mwalker5@angelo.edu. They can also make contact through the “Find Hailey Dunn” Facebook page. Walker said once about 20 people have shown interest, more details about the time and date of a search will be discussed.

Could the other "couple" of people that failed the polygraph have been Shawn's mother and uncle who provided him with an alibi in regards to where he was prior to 3:00 PM?

NANCY GRACE
Missing Cheerleader`s Mom and Boyfriend Failed Polygraph
Aired January 6, 2011 - 20:00   ET

BILLIE DUNN: ... The first Friday they had it set up for us to take, we had taken Ativan the night before to go to sleep. They didn`t tell us we couldn`t have anxiety medicine. So when we were able to get it set up again -- Shawn had actually called them and asked them if he could come down and take it yet, and they said yes. They came, picked him up. He took his. I went in. They told me he failed it. I lost it, of course. I told them I had so much faith in that test.

Then they took me over to the courthouse. I took a polygraph test. I failed it, lost all faith in the test. A couple of other people failed it.

<snipped>

GRACE: What about that, Billie? I know that she was seen by neighbors around lunchtime, noon in the backyard by herself, talking on a cell phone, right?

DUNN: Right. And I`m guessing the police would have asked that same neighbor, was my car here yet? Was Shawn home yet? They`ve talked to his mom and an uncle who stopped by his mom`s house saying that he was there.

I have to agree with you on your comments.  These are the things that concern me and why perhaps I think he could be involved.  However, there could very well be the possibility that she left on her own and something happened after.  So sad.  I so hope they find her alive and soon!

BREAKING: Searcher Finds Knife Cover in Creek 10 Miles North of Hailey Dunn's Colorado City Home 1/7/11

Colorado City, Texas -

A possible break in the case of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn came today as a member of a civilian search party found a pair of sunglasses and a knife-cover in a creek north of the city.

Midlander Holly Jenkins spotted the knife-cover in Morgan Creek in Dunn, Texas, a small town north of Colorado City.

Jenkins reached into the water and retrieved the cover before placing it on the ground along the wooded shore area.

Jenkins is one of about 100 community members from Colorado City, Snyder, Midland and elsewhere who formed at 2:00pm Friday to conduct a civilian search.

The group split into two parties, one starting in Colorado City working towards Dunn and the other beginning in Dunn and working their way toward Colorado City.

It was just after 4:00pm that Jenkins discovered the knife-cover floating in the water.

The creek is less than a mile away from a residence where Shawn Adkins is staying at this time.

Adkins is the boyfriend of Hailey Dunn's mother, Billie Jean Dunn.

Our CBS 7 crew visited the residence and knocked on the door to speak with Adkins.

A male came to the door and said "Our attorney has advised us to not speak with anyone. No comment".

CBS 7 contacted the Department of Public Safety about the knife-cover.

The Colorado City Police called the CBS 7 crew on scene for directions and began an investigation into the potential evidentiary find.

Watch CBS 7 NEWS at 10:00pm for a live report from Colorado City, video of the knife-cover and an interview with a friend of Shawn Adkins.

UPDATED 4:15 p.m.: Community searches for missing Colorado City teen

COLORADO CITY -- As law enforcement officials continued investigation efforts this afternoon in search of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, community members from throughout the region took up an effort of their own.

At 2 p.m., Colorado City resident Stephanie Boyd gathered a group of community members to embark on a foot search for Hailey, who has been missing for 11 days.

Hailey Darlene Dunn was last seen by her mother’s live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, on Dec. 27. Shawn reported he was told by Hailey around 3:15 p.m. that she would be walking to her dad’s house then spending the night with a friend, Mary Beth Garcia. Hailey’s dad said she never visited him that day and that she reportedly didn't spend the night with Mary Beth.

Boyd got the word out about the search using a Facebook page dedicated to bringing the 13-year-old home safe. Multiple groups of 15 or more citizens dispatched to head to at least three different areas surrounding Colorado City.

The search wasn't in any way conducted by city officials or law enforcement.

Boyd said she had a “gut feeling” she would find some evidence of Hailey between Colorado City and Dunn, which is about 11 miles north of Colorado City on State Hwy. 208.

Bill Stinson has lived in Colorado City for 72 years and said he knows every cow trail in Mitchell County. He had already been searching for Hailey for two days, but joined the official citizen-led search this afternoon.

“If she’s still in Mitchell County we’ll find her today,” he said. “I just hope we find her alive somewhere.”

BREAKING NEWS: Hailey's Mom Leaves Home With Texas Rangers (with video)

Colorado City, TX—   The mother of missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn left her Colorado City home Friday evening at the request of Texas Rangers, according to KTAB's Tiffany Tatro.
Billie Dunn told Tatro she was going to answer a few questions and wouldn't be gone long.

Prior to Dunn leaving the home, authorities took away one of Billie Dunn's vehicles as well as an X-Box from the home. Law enforcement told Tatro they were looking for any clues regarding Hailey's disappearance. The vehicle is expected to be taken to professionals to be inspected.

Late Friday, Colorado City City Manager Pete Kampfer confirmed authorities were looking at two items discovered in a stream near the home of one of Hailey's family members. Kampfer said someone located oil field glasses as well as a knife sheath. At this point, authorities have no reason to believe they're connected to the case. However, they plan to follow all leads.

Earlier in the day, investigators in plain clothes went go door-to-door asking residents of Colorado City for any information they might have on Dunn, who was been missing since Dec. 27 from the small town of 4,000, located halfway between Abilene and Midland.

Hailey was last seen on a Monday afternoon, having told her mother's boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, that she was going to spend the night with a friend.  She was reported missing 24 hours later.

Hundreds of volunteers have again hit the streets and woods across Michell County to look for any signs of the missing Colorado City Middle School student.  An organized search started at 2 p.m. Friday at the Mitchell County courthouse. Various groups have planned other searches, with many of those searches being organized on Facebook.

Abilene's Child Abduction Unit joined the investigation today, putting the number of assisting agencies at 10.

As of 10 a.m. Friday, Hailey's mother Billy Dunn was still resting following an intense interview on HLN's "Nancy Grace" program Thursday evening.

"It's not feeling good," she said of the chances of a happy ending.

I don't think there would be any work except oil field work in the area. It use to be boom town there for oil, but many of the wells have been shut down and there is oil drilling equipment rusting in big fields.

Officials: "We're Still Hoping to Find Hailey Alive" (with video)

"We're still hoping to find Hailey alive somewhere," said Senior Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Sparky Dean.
That was the underlying message during a news conference Friday afternoon in Colorado City concerning the disappearance of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.

"We're looking at anybody, we're looking at everybody," said Dean. "We aren't focused on one person or one or two people. There's no smoking gun out there."

Dean urged for patience from the public as it concerns locating evidence or pinpointing suspects.

"Everything takes time," said Dean. "Not everyone is forthcoming with interviews and telling the truth. It doesn't mean they're guilty of something. They may just not be comfortable talking to a police officer."

City Manager Pete Kampfer noted all the grassroot activity and searching that was going on in-and-around Colorado City and Mitchell County Friday.

"We're staying with that from a positive perspective," added Kampfer.

Kampfer also talked about law enforcement going door-to-door throughout town in hopes of finding clues. Kampfer says authorities were looking for very focused information.

"They're asking very specific questions as they do searches, as they conduct their search," added Kampfer. "They have a very detailed script that has a focused questionnaire that may help us fill in any voids from the first search that we did."

Authorities added that they plan to release new developments and information daily in the morning and afternoon.
