Perry asked both sides how much advance notice they'd like in knowing where the jury will be selected. Assistant State Attorney Linda Drane Burdick asked for 30 days, but Perry said, "I'm kind of leading towards two weeks' notice."
But that advance notice would go out to the legal teams, not the media. Perry has said repeatedly he wants to avoid pre-jury selection media coverage in the location where that jury is to be selected. So it is likely members of the media will find out much closer to the first day of jury selection where exactly it will be done.

Perry's court administration staff is scheduled to have a "media workshop" soon to discuss those logistics and other issues.

No motions were discussed Friday, and Perry otherwise checked on the progress of witness depositions by the defense and the state. The judge and the attorneys had two lengthy sidebar discussions outside the earshot of those in the courtroom, so it's not clear what other issues they talked about.

Defense attorneys Jose Baez and Cheney Mason walked out of the courthouse and refused to answer any questions from reporters.

The defense team recently has asked Perry to reconsider a sanction he imposed against Baez.

This week, the long-term defense lawyer for Casey Anthony paid a $583.73 penalty for failing to turn over witness information to state prosecutors, records show.

However, a letter written by Mason and dated Wednesday asked Assistant State Attorney Jeff Ashton to hold onto the check while Mason asks Perry to reconsider the punishment.

It's not clear whether that issue was discussed Friday, but earlier this week, Mason filed a motion with the court seeking reversal of the penalty.

Anthony Colarossi can be reached at acolarossi@orlandosentinel.com or 407-420-5447.

The reporter got this wrong. Burdick asked for 10 days - Bozo asked for 30 days.

Truthfully, I really don't see that it matters what movies the jury watches for entertainment, but that's just me.

I would guess they would not want any movies about mothers viciously murdering their daughter to go do men and drugs. Maybe not any movies about a crazy family, with a father who was a rage-a-holic and a mother who was a rage-a-holic with a perverted brother who brings in a small innocent baby into the house to be murdered and dumped in the mother's old dope smoking area.

They also would not want to them to see an INVISIBLE NANNY the defense team keep promising to produce until they found the decapitated head of the 3 year old in a swamp.

That sure narrows down the choice of movies, doesn't it.   Monkey Devil!

From: Colarossi, Anthony <AColarossi@orlandosentinel.com>

I emailed him this:
The reporter got this wrong. Burdick asked for 10 days - Bozo asked for 30 days.

his response to me:
Checkd my notes, Burdick asks for 30 days first. Perry asks "Why would you need 30 days? There's going to be a gag order." Then Baez speaks

and with this new  bullsh!t "bombshell" the duhfense has thrown out, JVM has LP as her expert.......need I say more

I would like to think Jane couldn't get a defense attorney to opine about this "mud nonsense" because they would have to call jarhead and bozo @ssclowns on national tv.

I have to say JVM is even worse than Nancy Grace.

Seeme, I sooo agree with you.  It is really chapping because JVM beats her breast and crowns herself the victim's advocate but all she does is glorify the defense of the VICTIM's killer.  She's even more obvious in her sensationalism than NG and blatantly obvious she is way biased toward Baez. It's probably simply because he supplies her with inside info for the show. Baez is a media whore and if whoever commented that Mason gave Jim L the 'phone me' sign, I'd bet my life that every key stroke of spin comes directly through the both of them.

I agree JVM is worse than Nancy Grace.  Her "War on women" mantra got very old, very quickly.  IMO there's no war on women.  There are individuals who kill other individuals, sometimes heinously and cruelly, but it knows no gender nor does it know any age.  All murders are unacceptable, not just murders of women.  I come here, and while I can't speak for others, because I have a special interest in children and it breaks my heart when a child is harmed.  I think it's because children are the most vulnerable in our society and have no means to defend themselves.  I wish I could defend them all, but of course that isn't possible.  I can only hope that the vicious monster who kill a
child, i.e. Casey Anthony meets their fate at the hands of our justice system.  That's sort of a long way of saying I no longer watch JVM or NG.

Before I go for the day, I also want to say that IMO JVM defends Jose Baez because of their shared ethnicity, just as Geraldo Rivera does.  Rivera has stated it blatantly, and JVM is a bit more subtle, but it's there all the same.  If I were of German extraction, I wouldn't be proud of Hitler, same with Hirohito if I were Japanese.  Of Course, the comparison is extreme, but the meaning should be clear.  One doesn't defend and support someone merely because of their shared national background.  One should condemn where appropriate and praise where appropriate merely for the merits of the person.  I contend that to defend someone because he is of some shared extraction is racism.

I can't make up my mind on that one BB. I think it's Bozo that has sought out ethnic compadres because he knows he's a nothing but can play the race card with them. Whorealdo & JVM would more than likely take leaks and inside info from Beelzabub himself if he called. It's all about the show and the fame...the show hosts can't get famous with boring truth and bums like Baez can't get famous telling the truth, it's a match made in hell.

JVM has always leaned to defend for the drama effect of cases.  As much as she claims to be fighting for women & crime, she's a drama mama who for years has been a sensationalist journalist more than she is a "crime fighter" per se.   She is also a bleeding heart & is of the mindset that "issues" can be socially resolved with therapy & public participation in helping others when in a lot of these cases there is no saving the scum we cover in crimes.  I'm sick of her thinking she is an authority on substance abuse because she herself is a recovering alcohol & shoving her story down our throats ad nausem.  She has NO legal background whatsoever other than what she has covered as a reporter & it is very clear that she does not read facts herself entirely.  She was a "Nancy Grace wannabe" & quite frankly she can take her gavel & shove it where the sun dont shine.   While Nancy Grace can be rude to her guests & also is a drama queen whose judgment of individuals sometimes is a bit "off" for the most part at least she knows the law, was a rather successful prosecutor & doesnt give defense attorneys room to spew their spin without calling them out on it.   Truth be told both shows at times run more like a tabloid than a crime news program.

Cap~  you hit it!  Both are tabloid shows who exploit true crime victims. There is value in massive widespread alerts on finding missing children or adults but beyond that it dissolves into opinions with or without facts. The bigger the audience the more outrageous the guests on the panels, the more skeletons in the closet the better, doesn't matter if it's a ball field from being pertinent to the case.

NG used her reputation and years of actually being an advocate to morph into a network sell out. It became obvious to me when all the latest dramas get played out over and over to be placed by the drama de jour..and never any follow up. It's as if the resolution is not worth mentioning, final justice is old news. Gotta keep the adrenalin high on fresh stuff when most of us really do want to see and hear about the wheels of justice grinding for the victim.  Guess it doesn't do any good to fight the TV machine, it's too well oiled!

I agree with you both! The only thing I give Nancy Grace credit for is introducing me to the computer side of the world! I had had enough of her when Caylee was "missing" so I got on my son's desktop, trying to find news. The rest is history!

I have to admit I most watch both shows every night I can stand it. Not that I am entertained, but once in a blue moon there is a little nugget of something new in a statement by a person who is involved in the case. For instance I find watching Billie Dunn most revealing in her interviews with Nancy. I have heard things from Tim Miller first on Nancy's show too. Mostly I watch to see how far Susan Moss can spit while she's on a tear.

JVM is mostly screeching and her panels are always screaming at each other. The sound is down most of the time during her show. If my son and hubby are in the room, they are busy making remarks at their antics and we are rolling in the floor with laughter. So I would definitely say they are both entertainment show for the most part.

Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.
