Go figure.  Someone, other than bankers on Wall Street are profiting while Americans continue to lose their homes, jobs, and dreams.

Barclays analyst says, "Recent data released by Banco de Mexico shows that electronic money transfer volume and transaction growth accelerated in November, continuing gains in October. Volume increased 8% Y/Y (versus a 2% increase in October) and number of transactions increased 5% Y/Y (versus a 1% increase in October). Other Latin American countries showing a pick-up in November include El Salvador and Guatemala, while Pakistan remittance growth also showed solid improvement in both October and November. On average, remittance growth is trending in line to better than last quarter's across the countries we track - with December also likely to have shown improvement given a strong holiday/gifting season - and we believe the environment is continuing to improve for WU into 2011."

Foreign remittances in to the country reached US $ 3.8 billion last year and the country projects a higher amount for this year.

“We are expecting to reach an increased value in foreign remittances this year. The country is in the process of positioning as a skilled worker supplying country.

Sri Lanka will be looking at markets in countries such as Bahrain, the Caribbean Islands, USA and Canada to send skilled or semi-skilled workers.

In the US, it seems like Washington wants more college graduates.  Why aren't they focusing on quality?  It seems like the push is always on QUANTITY and spending more money on college.

What happened to the quality of student education?

Maybe more degrees in the sciences, manufacturing, engineering would serve the nation better?

All the increased spending on education and what is the taxpayer getting in return?  Degrees in XYZ studies?

We have such a labor shortage that other nations are sending 'semi' skilled people?

"Remittances may top $20b"

Remittances coursed through banks by migrant Filipino workers may exceed $20 billion this year, Bangko Sentral said over the weekend.

Remittances in 2010 were projected to reach $18.7 billion, based on the 8-percent growth assumption from $17.3 billion in 2009.

Data showed that remittances in the first 10 months of 2010 rose 7.9 percent to $15.5 billion. The bulk of the remittances came from Filipinos living or working in the United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Japan, the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Italy, Germany and Norway.

Washington can't find $100 billion in spending cuts?

Why not start cutting welfare payments of all kinds to parents/people who are not here legally?

Go after all those folks using 'unregistered' and duplicate Social Security numbers?  Instead of honest Americans under Obamacare's $600 1099 rule?

Go after babies and toddlers working construction jobs and people on welfare whose children may thousands of dollars a year?
