Explanation under the photo that originated from Myspace but the explanation added by the person who added to the above Facebook:

Pictured are Shawn Adkins and his cousin. (Source: MySpace) When asked by a relative about how anyone could hurt a 13-year-old little girl, Shawn Adkins, Billie's live-in boyfriend at the time of Hailey's disappearance, allegedly compared the tragedy to his deer hunting and how he cuts the deer up with his chainsaw.

SNIPED

Did it occur to LE to go look in that storm shelter?

Rumors Continue to Swirl Around Hailey Dunn Case

SCURRY COUNTY - Rumors are now swirling around Scurry County about the discovery of a bone by a search party that was out looking for 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.

According to Sheriff Darren Jackson, with the Scurry County Sheriff's Department, the rumors have been going around the community of Dunn for a few days. He tells NewsWest 9 that no human remains have been discovered.

Trooper Sparky Dean with the Department of Public Safety tells NewsWest9 he has only heard about the possible discover of a bone from the media and not official sources.

The rumors come in the midst of an area wide search for Hailey Dunn, 13, of Colorado City. The cheerleader has been missing since December 27. Right now, investigators say they have several persons of interest in the case. Shawn Adkins, Dunn's mother's boyfriend, is one of those police say is a person of interest.

NewsWest 9 will continue to follow this developing story.

Mom's Boyfriend Prays For Missing Teen's Return

(AP)  DALLAS (AP) - A man named as a person of interest in the case of a missing 13-year-old girl from West Texas said Friday that he is not responsible for her disappearance.

Shawn Adkins, 25, told The Associated Press exclusively that he would "never ever do anything to harm Hailey" Dunn, whose mother reported her missing Dec. 28 in Colorado City. Adkins was then the live-in boyfriend of Billie Dunn, Hailey's mother.

Adkins said he prays daily for Hailey's safe return.

Billie Dunn told police that Adkins said he last saw the teen Dec. 27. According to police, Dunn said Adkins told her Hailey said she was walking to her father's home nearby and then to a friend's house where she was spending the night. Hailey did not arrive at either location.

Colorado City's city manager, Pete Kampfer, told the AP earlier this week that Adkins is among several people of interest in the investigation of the missing middle school cheerleader. No one has been arrested in the case.

Dunn has denied any involvement in her daughter's disappearance. She told Adkins to move out of their home Jan. 5.

Adkins said he "loves" Hailey and that his life has been "flipped upside down" since her disappearance.

"I struggle so hard just to make it through the day," he told the AP on Friday. "I can't begin to imagine what Hailey's family, especially her parents and brother are going through
."

Adkins said police have misquoted him in affidavits.

In one, police said Adkins at first was "very positive" about Hailey, but that as time went on he indicated she was promiscuous and that she used drugs. Adkins denied this on Friday. He said he had told police that Billie and Hailey Dunn had discussed taking birth control and that he had told investigators that the teen was "boy crazy."

Her father, Clint Dunn, has said Hailey is popular, isn't into boys or drugs and "she's just a good ol' American girl."

Another affidavit said police disputed Adkins' assertion that he went straight to visit his mother in Big Spring, some 40 miles west of Colorado City, after he left work at 6:10 a.m. on Dec. 27. Police said cell phone records indicated he had been in Colorado City between 6:35 a.m. and 6:56 a.m. On Friday he again asserted that he had gone straight to his mother's house that day.

Since Hailey's disappearance more than 100 billboards featuring her picture, information about the case and a law enforcement phone number have been set up along interstates in West Texas and even in other states. The girl is described as white, standing 5-foot-1, weighing 120 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair with blondish streaks.

There is a $15,000 reward for information leading to the teen's return.

Search Volunteers Make Special Memorial For Hailey Dunn (with video)

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Some volunteers have been looking for Hailey Dunn everyday for almost two weeks and now they've set up a special memorial they hope a little girl would like.

"All of us out here want her home," said volunteer Freda Radcliff, "It's emotional for us."

Volunteers are growing desperate, KTXS followed a group during their search for Hailey in Dunn two days ago. They were alone then, but were joined by law enforcement Thursday.

Texas Rangers and Sheriff's deputies who wouldn't go on camera wound down their search as the sunset but the volunteers stayed late to work on something special.

"We're wanting everyone who drives into Dunn to remember Hailey," Radcliff said.

So up against the backdrop of a frigid winter wilderness they've placed stuffed animals: A warm reminder a little girl is not forgotten.

"We think she'd like them," Radcliff said.

Searchers say the stuffed animals are also there to send a strong message to Shawn Adkins, the former live-in boyfriend of the little girl's mother and the only named person of interest in the case. The volunteers say he watches their daily search from a porch across the highway.

"I want him to know we're out here everyday looking for Hailey," Radcliff said.

Volunteers say some people have misunderstood the gesture to be a memorial and that they'll hang signs to clear up the confusion. They hope the attention getting sight of these cuddly creatures will help their cause.

"That's what we want," Radcliff said, "Get out here and help us search. People thought we'd get in trouble for putting them up here, but it's for Hailey."

The Texas Rangers told us they plan to study maps of the area and create a plan for their continuing search. They say they started on the perimeters of Scurry County and are working their way inwards.

Big Spring Connection to Hailey Dunn Case 1/13/11

Big Spring Connection to Hailey Dunn Case 1/13/11

Greg Sherman
CBS 7 News
January 13, 2011

There is a Big Spring connection to the case of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn.

According to an affidavit CBS 7 acquired earlier this week, the mother of Shawn Adkins, Christina Walker, lives in Big Spring and in fact Adkins went to her house the day Hailey went missing on December 27.

The affidavit says that Adkins quit his job in Snyder that morning, then drove to Big Spring and allegedly made 11 different phone calls between 9:30 and 2:45 that day.

The document references cell phone records obtained by investigators.

CBS 7 Big Spring Reporter Greg Sherman went to Walker's house twice for comment, but she was not home.

We will keep you up to date on this aspect of the case as well any developments out of Mitchell County.ssss

That is a great map, but because I'm map illiterate, I just don't see on it where the bone was found. Is it close to anything? Her house or Shawn's mom or grandma's house ?

Timeline for missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn

Timeline

This timeline was compiled with information from an affidavit obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request and from news gathering by the Reporter-News. The affidavit was compiled by Billy Sides, an investigator for the 32nd Judicial District of Attorney's Office, who stated in the affidavit, "It is the belief of your affiant that Hailey Dunn was kidnapped and transported to another location against her will."

Sunday, Dec. 26

9 p.m. — Hailey Dunn's brother, Delbert David Dunn, 16, leaves the residence he and his sister share with their mother and her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins. He said Hailey was playing one of his video games in the living room.

10 p.m. — Billie Jean Dunn sees her daughter watching TV, according to her statement Wednesday night on HLN's "Nancy Grace."Monday, Dec. 27

Time undetermined — Billie Jean Dunn "peeks in" on her daughter and believes she's in her bed, she tells the Reporter-News on Wednesday. She then rides with Adkins to their jobs in Snyder

6 a.m. — Adkins arrives at his place of work, Weaver Services Inc. in Snyder. WSI provides pipeline and related structure construction for the oil and gas industry.

6:10 a.m. — Adkins leaves work after purchasing a Dr Pepper from the break room vending machine, according to his supervisor. Adkins told authorities he was fired from his job after an altercation with his supervisor. The supervisor told investigators Adkins was a good employee and had not been fired.

6:35-6:56 a.m. — Phone records indicate Adkins was in Colorado City, about 25 miles from his place of work in Snyder. However, he told investigators he went straight from his place of work to his mother's home in Big Spring, which about 50 miles away.

9:38 a.m. — Phone records indicate Adkins is in the area of his mother's home in Big Spring.

Noon — Hailey Dunn is seen by a neighbor in the backyard of her Colorado City home using her mother's cell phone, according to Reporter-News files.

2:40 p.m. — Phone records indicate Adkins was in Big Spring up until this time. Eleven phone calls had been made from Big Spring, beginning at 9:38 a.m.

3 p.m. — Adkins says he arrives home in Colorado City and sees Hailey Dunn.

3:15 p.m. — Hailey Dunn leaves her residence, telling Adkins she would visit her dad's home and then spend the night with a friend.

4 p.m. — David Dunn arrives home. He pounds on the door for about five minutes and no one lets him in. He enters the home through a window and observes Adkins standing in the hallway with "a deer in the headlights look."

5:45 p.m. — Adkins picks up Billie Jean Dunn from work.

6:19 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. — Two withdrawals are made from an ATM in Snyder, one for $60 and one for $80. It later is determined through voluntary admission of Billie Jean Dunn that the money was used to purchase illegal narcotics for her and Adkins from a person in Scurry County.

7:30 p.m. — Billie Jean Dunn and Adkins arrive back at Dunn's home in Colorado City, she tells the Reporter-News on Wednesday. They watch movies before going to be around 10 p.m., she says.Tuesday Dec. 28

6:30 a.m. — Adkins takes Billie Jean Dunn to work in Snyder

Noon — According to Connie Jones, Billie Jean Dunn's grandmother who lives in Snyder, Billie Jean Dunn calls her son, David, and asks him to text his sister and tell her to come home. Failing to get an answer, David phones the home of his sister's friend and learns Hailey Dunn never came to the home. He informs her mother, who leaves work and drives to Colorado City, where, she tells the Reporter-News on Wednesday, she looks for daughter at the homes of several friends.

2 p.m. — Billie Jean Dunn reports her daughter, Hailey Dunn, missing at the office of the Colorado City police.

Hailey's Angels continue search
Volunteers concentrate on Scurry County region

DUNN — A small army of volunteers converged near a tiny Scurry County community to participate in the search for Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn, who was reported missing Dec. 28.

Search team members — who dubbed themselves Hailey's Angels — have been scouring abandoned buildings, culverts, creeks and fields for the past 10 days.

Although none of the volunteers know the 13-year-old middle school student, they diligently search for her each day, placing neon pink plastic strips at each place they explore.

"We are just trying to bring a little girl home," said Freda Radcliff, who lives in Snyder.

Law enforcement, meanwhile, continued to search for the missing teen, who reportedly was last seen Dec. 27.

Her mother's former live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, on Wednesday was named one of several persons of interest in the case. Last week, he was asked to leave the home by Billie Jean Dunn, the teen's mother.

Law enforcement is not officially monitoring the activities of volunteer groups, but officials have told search parties to be cautious.

"We try to urge them (search teams) to be careful and please notify law enforcement if they find something," said Senior Trooper Sparky Dean of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The volunteers were concentrating their efforts in Scurry County, which is north of Mitchell County — where Billie Jean Dunn's home is located, and began the search in Dunn on Thursday along State Highway 208, about 10 miles from Colorado City.

On Thursday, they paused to place stuffed animals on a bridge over Sulphur Creek near Dunn — a few hundred yards from where Adkins is reportedly staying with relatives.

The team will continue its efforts today.

"There's nothing we can do but search," said Ashley Powell, of Lubbock.

The law enforcement task force Thursday continued its search in Scurry County. So far, officials have conducted searches in Colorado City and in Scurry and Howard counties. They have also followed up on calls made by the volunteer groups.

"We appreciate their good will — it is super," Dean said.

Victor Cristales contributed to this report.
