Entitlement Reforms - "Surplus and Suffering"

Where does anyone start reforming entitlements?

Jesse Jackson gave a speech recently and spoke of 'surpluses and suffering'.

Why not eliminate those with a surplus?  How do you identify entitlement families that have a surplus?   Maybe wait for them to self identify?

Here are some ideas -

Look at how they spend the benefits.  Are they buying expensive steaks or birthday cakes with their food stamps?  It's hard to believe a $50 piece of meat will feed a family for a month.  Or, that a $45 birthday cake is good use of money.  Maybe these folks have so much, they have a surplus?  Maybe they don't really need the food stamps?

What are the alternatives?  Maybe a basic box that is delivered to the family on a monthly or weekly basis.  Beans, rice, basic fruit - the kind of food that REAL workings families buy.  The 'beans and rice' die of the working poor.  Those that work and don't get thousands in Obamacash.

The box of food should be a simple thing to implement.  This vast economy already has Peapod, and other grocery delivery services.  Some of the best fruits and veggies are local agriculture ventures that delivery, for a popular price.  Fruit and other fresh products are already delivered via gifting, 'blank' of the month clubs, gift baskets...there are any number of delivery options that REALLY deliver and work.  No need to reinvent the wheel.

Perhaps folks could order and have choice via the internet.  There are any number of food coops that already have this option.

If you're spending much of your food stamp allotment on expensive 'fluff' maybe you have a surplus and really don't need food stamps?

Are there other folks that might have a surplus and not really be suffering?  How might they be identified?

Did you ever spend your benefits on a cruise ship?  In a gambling casino?  Amusement park?

Maybe you regularly redeem your benefits miles away from your stated home?  Maybe you never use your benefits 'local'?

Maybe you have a surplus and aren't really suffering and in need of taxpayer assistance?

Did you enroll in welfare without proving your identity?  Providing a Social Security number of government ID?  Maybe you didn't provide a Social Security number for your children?

Why do you expect taxpayers to pay month after month when we don't know who you are?  How many state's you may be collecting in?  How many welfare checks you get a month for your family?

Working families pay more and more for welfare, and have less and less to support their families.

Why should anyone get benefits if they don't have a government issued ID, a Social Security number, and some proof they are real people and not fraud recipients?
