Texas House OKs 85-mph speed limit, would be nation's highest
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/04/07/us-texas-speed-limit-idUSTRE7366L720110407

IMO, that's too fast.

Every time speed limits have been increased, fatalities have too.

Not to mention more gas consumption at higher speeds.

I am not an advocate of this.

I would be afraid to drive that fast, I'm sure that I would lose control of the car.  Sorry about the little possum   an angelic monkey

Also, consider a blowout of a tire at that rate of speed. What control would one have of their vehicle?

*shudder*

From what I can figure out it's mostly on the 10 where it's flat and nothing. The speed there now is 80. I can't figure out why the extra 5 mph. 80  is plenty fast enough. Arizona and New Mexico are 75 almost on all the main highways. I have to admit I have been known to cruise at 80 on some of our trips.  But not at night. Seen to many animals get hit.
70 mph, hit ol Bessie head-on, hubs bumped his nose on the rear view mirror, I was fine, managed to keep the car on the road....it was totaled, Bessie flipped over the hood....horns went thru the roof.....Lesson learned, when your traveling on an unlit 2 lane rural road with vehicles flashing their lights at you as you pass, slow down cause Bessie may be right around the next curve!

Brandi have you heard from 4Donks? Hoping her sister is doing okay.  an angelic monkey

Not since she posted here last night.

Me too.

I hope she has some good news today about her sister.
My sister is doing well after surgery but I'm not happy with her doctor. He doesn't feel it necessary for a second opinion because"my sister trusts him" and after all she's the patient. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck...it's a QUACK!!  We will have a talk when she gets home..
an angelic monkey Glad she is doing well after surgery, but for the love of God, why would a doctor not agree to a 2nd opinion especially since he is not getting any diagnoses after these surgeries. Hope your sister will listen to you when she gets home.

I don't know that a doctor can stop a second opinion.  Unless, the patient is in hospital and that 2nd opinion doctor does not have rights in that hospital.  Might have to wait until she is home, then you can take her to any doctor you want.

JSM  the reason I had my own motorcycle and never rode with someone... CONTROL  Monkey Devil!

I agree with the control but it's the other drivers that scare me. But then maybe it is because my brother managed to throw me off one when we were young. Thank goodness we were out in the desert riding it when it happened.    Flew right over his head and landed on my back about 40 feet from him.

For me, I have heard too many decapitation stories when an accident occured on a motorcycle.  Do not ask me where I heard these stores, as I do not remember, but they sure stuck in my brain.

She really likes my husband and me, she is three months old and a caramel and tan colored. They took a picture of her with the bandana we got her, going to go see if they posted any pictures of her. Because she is wired haired she has a little beard and furry feet that she likes to bite. I'll just have to take Benydryl, she licked me on the face, and got a big hive, maybe after awhile my body will get use to her, I hope so.

NRCG Mae Annabelle sounds so cute and sweet. I am sorry your allergies started up with her. Can't wait to see a picture of her. Hope you are having a good day.
Again tonight I will ask them for some pictures, would like some with her bandanna on. Somehow the allergies better get in control, would hate that I couldn't be around her. I'll have the allergies before that happens. How is the little possum?       4 Donks, my two cents, but I sure would get a second opinion even if I trust the doctor, just to be sure.  an angelic monkey

Hope you can get the allergies under control. Hopefully they will have some pics for you tonight at dinner.

Sad news our little possum passed away this afternoon. Just to little to be away from momma.  Grandson and I buried her in the back yard and had a little service for her.   an angelic monkey

Awe, that is so sad.  Sad

Yikes Babs     That is a hard lesson learned. But what did us city girls know about rural unlit roads back then.  Thank goodness we wised up with age and experience uh.

Zoo I think 4Donks sister didn't feel like she needed one. And 4Donks thinks she  have one.

They are the same.  Thanks for asking.  I am going to have to wait a bit, I am in a lot of pain today for some reason.  I thought by now I would get some relief, but have not.  I am so mad at myself.

Your husband rocks!  BTW, the yuck in my post was for the dog poop.  I read it later and saw that it could be misconstrued, but was in too much pain to correct it.  That is why I was talking in emoticons!

Have a great day, sweetie!
