Alice in Chains bassist Mike Starr dies – two years after appearing on Celebrity Rehab

Former Alice in Chains rocker Mike Starr – whose struggles with heroin addiction were chronicled in the reality TV show Celebrity Rehab – has passed away aged 44.

A spokesperson said: “There is nothing to indicate that this was foul play by another individual.”

The cause of death is yet to be established.

Starr’s music career began in the mid 1980’s when he formed the band Diamond Lie with Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney.

The band later changed their name to Alice in Chains and shot to fame as part of the early 90’s grunge movement.

However, Starr struggled with heroin addiction and was thrown out of the band in 1992 due to his drug problems.
