Extend for 15 days pre-trial stage where Joran Van Der Sloot

The Third Criminal Division Jail Inmates in Superior Court of Lima extended by 15 days the instruction stage in the process to Dutch Joran Van Der Sloot, for the murder of Stephanie Flores, in 2010.

The case was returned to the Fourth Criminal Court in Jail Inmates, assigned to the case where proceedings are conducted in private, because the proceedings are still in preliminary stage.

Then return the dossier to that court, which scheduled the start date of the trial against Van Der Sloot.

Natalee Holloway Resource Center Opening in D.C
.

WASHINGTON (CBS/AP) The Natalee Holloway Resource Center, a resource center for missing persons named for the Alabama teen who went missing in 2005 on a senior trip to Aruba, is set to open in Washington Tuesday, and Beth Holloway is expected to be there front and center.

The center is meant to help the families of missing persons by providing support to families of the missing and by reducing the challenges they face, challenges that Beth Holloway says she dealt with when her own daughter disappeared.

She also hopes it will prevent more missing persons cases by providing travel safety tips and advice for college and high school students

The opening of the center in the National Museum of Crime & Punishment in Washington comes shortly after Joran van der Sloot, the young man suspected to be responsible for Natalee's disappearance, was arrested, and reportedly confessed to, the murder of a Peruvian native Stephany Flores.

Van der Sloot to appear in court Wednesday
By the CNN Wire Staff
June 8, 2011 -- Updated 1250 GMT (2050 HKT)

Lima, Peru (CNN) -- Joran van der Sloot, the suspect in the killing of a young woman in a Peruvian hotel room who has also been linked to the disappearance of American Natalee Holloway in Aruba, will appear in court Wednesday morning.

The closed-door hearing will take place in a courtroom at Lima's Castro Castro prison, the court said.

The father of victim Stephany Flores is expected to be there, and the hearing is reportedly about some evidence in the case, particularly the identification of a couple of wallets.

Flores was found dead in a Lima hotel room registered to van der Sloot in May 2010. Police say van der Sloot took money and bank cards from her wallet and fled to Chile, where he was arrested a few days later.

Peruvian authorities have yet to file formal charges against van der Sloot. Once the discovery phase of the case ends, prosecutors will file charges and a trial date will be set.

Earlier this month, van der Sloot's defense attorney, Maximo Altez, resigned citing unspecified differences in strategy.

Joran van der Sloot in court
Published on 8 June 2011 - 9:06am

Joran van der Sloot will appear in court on Wednesday, along with the father of Stephany Flores - the woman he is charged with murdering. The court is to hear evidence on some of Stephany Flores' property that was found in Van der Sloot’s possession at the time of his arrest, according to Peruvian media reports.

The hearing will take place in the Castro Castro jail, where Van der Sloot has been detained since June. He is charged with murdering the 21-year-old student Stephany Flores on 30 May 2010 in a Lima hotel room.

Van der Sloot’s lawyer, Máximo Altez, said he was withdrawing from the case at the end of May due to a difference in opinion about a defence strategy. He says he will continue to defend Van der Sloot until a new lawyer is found.

Carlos Flores, Stephany’s father, was recently elected to parliament.

New twist in the case Joran van der Sloot

He wrote that it was capable of anything, "he told Dutch police a friend of Joran van der Sloot, the young Dutchman who is accused in Peru of the murder of Stephanie Flores, a young Peruvian 21.

In May last year, Joran van der Sloot, 24 years old, confessed to a friend in Holland who was in bankruptcy. This information is of great importance for trial. The suspect must appear before a judge Wednesday.

Through the AIM chat program, from Peru, the accused told a friend who still had some money to eat. Two days later, would have killed the Peruvian girl of 21 years, Stephanie Flores, after having spent the evening playing poker. Three days later he was captured in Chile and extradited to Peru, where he awaits trial for a year.

Last year, one month after the arrest of Van der Sloot, police in the Dutch city of Maastricht questioned the friend said. As confirmed by the Dutch law, the questioning took place after a request for legal assistance by Peru. Peruvian Justice sent a 40-page report to the lawyers on both sides. Friend's statements reveal a lack of money caused great distress to Van der Sloot, who was in Lima to participate in a poker tournament. Such information is important for filing the charges, which should take place in the coming months. Still not sure whether the young Dutchman will be judged by simple or qualified homicide.

Natalee Holloway
The suspect has always ensured that Stephany killed in a rage after it discovered the laptop computer of Van der Sloot its link with the death of Natalee Holloway, an American girl who, in 2005, disappeared in Aruba without trace. On that occasion it was said that Van der Sloot would have lost the sense of reality and did not know what he did. Apparently, his former lawyer, Max Altez, recommended to insist on this version because it would bring a sentence substantially less than first degree murder.

"The new information from the Netherlands undermines the statements of Van der Sloot," says the Flores family's lawyer, Edward Alvarez. In his view, the young man murdered in a fit of anger, but simply because she refused to give him money. The history of computers was also contradicted by evidence found by the Peruvian police, after establishing that the day of the murder did not open any document on your computer from Van der Sloot.

Bankrupt
After his arrest, he presented new evidence that the Dutchman was in bankruptcy. Dutch police said, from Peruvian jail pleaded with the same friend in Holland to send him money. This, in fact, sent $ 50 so he could buy soap and toothpaste in his cell. The money also was the reason for the departure of Van der Sloot's lawyer, Max Altez, who resigned from his defense last week due to "lack of financial arrangement" and differences of opinion on the defensive line. The case would have earned him not a penny.

If the motive was money, Dutch expect a long prison term, Alvarez's lawyer predicts. "In Peru, for the purpose of robbery murder with life imprisonment applies." Today the lawyer and the suspect will be present at trial. Both the father of Stephany Flores and the accused were confronted with images from security cameras at the hotel and surrounding area. The session will serve as preparation for the prosecution. Within a few weeks will set the date to start the process, which, according to Alvarez, is no earlier than three months. Not yet known who will be the lawyer who defends Van der Sloot.

Joran van der Sloot appeared before the judge

Lima (ANP-RNW) - The Dutch citizen, Joran van der Sloot, to appear in court Wednesday, along with Peruvian girl's father killed, Stephany Flores.

It would be a hearing on the belongings of Stephany Van der Sloot was in possession at the time of arrest. This has been published the Peruvian media.

The hearing will be held at the Maximum Security Prison Miguel Castro Castro, where Van der Sloot has been detained since June last year.

It alleges that the Dutch had killed Flores May 30, 2010 in a Lima hotel. If convicted of murder could be sentenced to 35 years imprisonment for manslaughter but could receive 20 years in prison.

In late May, the attorney for Joran van der Sloot, Maximum Altez, announced that his client represented more by differences of opinion on the defense strategy. Right now looking for a new legal adviser for the Dutch.

Before the microphones of Radio Netherlands Worldwide, Altez stated that fundamental mistakes were made in the police investigation. If the judge grants the defense request, the investigation would have no effect.

While waiting for a new lawyer for Van der Sloot, Altez continue to assist, so the family decided to Van der Sloot.

In another vein, Carlos Flores, Stephanie Flores's father, was recently elected to the Peruvian Congress.
