The past three years have been an amazing education for this political novice.

Who would have ever guessed that unions bought politicians?

Who could have guessed that unions, not politicians, raised property and income taxes in Wisconsin?

What were they doing with all the dues money?  Insurance money?

Why weren't they buying companies instead of politicians?

Unions in some cases seem like parasites.  In nature, iirc, smart parasites take what they need and move on, allowing the host body to continue to flourish.

It's the cycle of life.  Take a little, move on to the next, and leave something for later.  Don't harvest eveything from the bush and trees, leave some for the animals and reseeding.

Instead of taking more and more, why didn't they buy into the companies that used to provide good jobs?  For example, why didn't they keep buying GM stock?  Become the majority owners?  Tell the board and officers they're taking to much in compensation?

What happened?  The jobs moved elsewhere.  Detroit once provided good jobs and community to thousands.  Thousand of families have moved away.  The retirees are dead or dying, and their children sell off the home.  Detroit is a wasteland.  A shadow of it's former self.

How might this have been different if the unions owned the companies through stock purchases?  Instead of demanding more and more?  Forcing companies to move the labor intensive jobs elsewhere?

Why don't unions buy or start good companies, with good jobs, instead of buying politicians?

How long do cities like Milwaukee have before they're the next Detroit?  The retirees are dead, and no working families move in?

In some ways, it's a self destroying cycle.  Parasites, demand more and more, and kill the host.

Simple.  Cities dead in a few generations.

Wisconsin, and cities like Milwaukee used to be filled with thousands of good paying jobs.  What's left?  Welfare and public workers?

Wisconsin, imho, needs everyone to contribute, new business, new ideas, and a better way forward.

No more parasites - stop killing the host!!!

It doesn't do any good to hate anyone,
they'll end up in your family anyway...
