VERY scary that those mock jurors stood up and said that they would acquit.
We don't know what evidence they were presented with or where CBS dug them up from.

As far as the video of Casey's reaction to Caylee's remains being found, it was my understanding
that it's too prejudicial to introduce into evidence, but I'm not sure if that's still the case.

What was her catch phrase....'If she is full of chit, you must acquit?'

Not gonna happen.  

 

They had no way to present the true evidence and this is such a ruse in my opinion. I am very disturbed they presented this as a real sample jury. Either they took all the people who didn't graduate 6th grade or the most stupid people they could find. Maybe they used all present inmates at their local prison.

What a disingenuous boob Baez is. He rants and raves about pre trial publicity and then brazenly takes part in presenting a mock trial that will be shown to a nationwide audience. HHJP should immediately reverse his decision regarding change of venue. Obviously the 'fear' of biased pre trial publicity has miraculously evaporated for the DT.

I can't help but think that CBS has cut a deal with the Anthony's for an exclusive interview after the trial is over. Maybe CBS is treading lightly and reporting with a slant in order to preserve their relationship and to keep the Anthony's in their pocket, not that Rosebud and George Marie don't have their mitts in CBS's pockets. I believe you're right. No other reason for a show like this one.

I believe you're right.  I wouldn't watch because I knew it would be bogus as to the truth . . . the only "mock"ing they are doing is to the memory of Caylee.

According to studies, the majority of Casey Anthony's jury will likely be white men. Those studies showed minorities and women tend to be excluded from death-qualified juries.

One published study, written by University of California Psychology professor Dr. Craig Haney, said that death-qualified juries are "unrepresentative of the community at large, predisposed to support the prosecution, and predisposed to convict persons brought before the court."

That study also said because there's so much talk about the death penalty at jury selection, it "suggests that the defendant's guilt is presumed by the attorneys and judge, increases the acceptability of pro-death penalty attitudes, and has been shown to increase the likelihood that jurors will convict."

"You tend to eliminate people who are more sympathetic or open-minded to the issues," said Fussell.

The death penalty is reserved for the most heinous crimes, but Fussell said even if every element of the state's case against Casey turns out to be true, it should not be a death penalty case.

"It's a case that strikes our emotions and pulls at our heart strings, but its not a case that is the worst of the worst murder cases," he said.

Fussell said the defense will seize on the fact that prosecutors cannot say for sure how exactly Casey's 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, died.
