Surprise, surprise; Census Bureau data reveals that most U.S. families headed by illegal immigrants use taxpayer-funded welfare programs on behalf of their American-born anchor babies.

Even before the recession, immigrant households with children used welfare programs at consistently higher rates than natives, according to the extensive census data collected and analyzed by a nonpartisan Washington D.C. group dedicated to researching legal and illegal immigration in the U.S. The results, published this month in a lengthy report, are hardly surprising.

Basically, the majority of households across the country benefitting from publicly-funded welfare programs are headed by immigrants, both legal and illegal. States where immigrant households with children have the highest welfare use rates are Arizona (62%), Texas, California and New York with 61% each and Pennsylvania (59%).

How do you verify the income of an illegal alien using a bogus identity to obtain work?

Welfare Use by Immigrant Households with Children: A Look at Cash, Medicaid, Housing, and Food Programs

Thirteen years after welfare reform, the share of immigrant-headed households (legal and illegal) with a child (under age 18) using at least one welfare program continues to be very high. This is partly due to the large share of immigrants with low levels of education and their resulting low incomes — not their legal status or an unwillingness to work. The major welfare programs examined in this report include cash assistance, food assistance, Medicaid, and public and subsidized housing.

Among the findings:

    * In 2009 (based on data collected in 2010), 57 percent of households headed by an immigrant (legal and illegal) with children (under 18) used at least one welfare program, compared to 39 percent for native households with children.

    * Immigrant households’ use of welfare tends to be much higher than natives for food assistance programs and Medicaid. Their use of cash and housing programs tends to be similar to native households.

How many of those immigrant families, illegal, also work?  How does government verify the income of someone here illegally?  Someone used a stolen, fraud, or bogus Social Security number or name to obtain work?  Uses a child's Social Security number?

Why do all the amnesty bills want to give these people credit for 'Social Security' payments, but doesn't ask them to pay back welfare payments?

How many also work?  Perhaps their legal coworkers also collect welfare?

How many children on welfare work high paying jobs?

Why aren't they working on fixing this problem in Washington?  Cut the welfare list by maybe 65%?

Food assistance and Medicaid are the programs most commonly used by illegal immigrants, mainly on behalf of their American-born children who get automatic citizenship. On the other hand, legal immigrant households take advantage of every available welfare program, according to the study, which attributes it to low education level and resulting low income.

The highest rate of welfare recipients come from the Dominican Republic (82 %), Mexico and Guatemala (75%) and Ecuador (70%), according to the report, which says welfare use tends to be high for both new arrivals and established residents.

Are they stupid?  Ignorant?  Seems like people with 'low education' can still cost a lot of money!

How do they manage to apply?  How many are rejected compared to low education natives?

In Wisconsin, they can apply online.  How many get help from community organizations?
