Quote from: "JusticeforNatalee"
My Take on the Boston Protest
by JFN

First of all, there was IMMENSE love and support for Natalee in Boston.

We encountered a little snag with the decision about not being allowed to wear our Natalee shirts inside.
One of the travel show employees told us that he thought the shirt decision was “ridiculous.” However he wasn’t in charge and couldn’t do anything about it.

He did  remind us, however, that we could fully exercise our freedom of speech OUTSIDE. (That’s all I needed to hear.)

So-Actually the shirt issue didn’t affect our vigil/protest that much. Perhaps it was Aruba Tourism’s big plan to head us off at the pass. Well, it backfired and just made us stronger!  It only made us more focused and determined to get our message across OUTSIDE. And besides, we had a HUGE SIGN in a prominent place with Natalee’s picture on it! We had a permit and we were in the UNITED STATES.

Everyone entering the show had to walk past our large JFN sign. (Kudos to dadof1 for
designing and getting the sign made!)
I was very pleased that we were permitted to keep the sign. As long as we could hold it, we could keep it. That was the deal.

People recognized Natalee’s picture and either nodded, gave a thumbs up, or stopped to talk. Even people passing in cars reacted.

Here is just a sampling of comments we heard:

Justice for Natalee; Amen.
I have a daughter and I will NEVER go to Aruba.
I will NEVER step foot on that island.
What happened to Natalee should not happen to ANYONE.
I went twice in the past and will never go again.
The Aruba booth is quiet inside; you are doing a good job.

And on and on it went with mostly positive support.

Some people were indignant, in a good way, about Aruba’s failure to deliver justice.

A few travel agents told us they never send clients to Aruba.

And we were told there was even a buzz about our protest going on INSIDE the show!

So all in all, I think we did a lot of good for Natalee in Boston. And we conducted ourselves in a civil manner in the process. (no arrests/no trouble)

Why did I go to Boston? I went out of compassion for Natalee and her family.
I went because I believe in justice. I went because I thought it was nervy, almost offensive, for Aruban officials to think they could just move past Natalee and continue to promote tourism in the United States, WHERE NATALEE WAS BORN, without first delivering JUSTICE.

On the island of Aruba, an American citizen, a young woman, a human being, has been denied justice.

JUSTICE FOR NATALEE ANN HOLLOWAY

Great job.

This is to those members of FOB that are questioning the ability for those protesters in Boston to reach most of those entering the trade show.  Here is a map of the show from their website.  As you can see, there is one entrance.  This is where the protesters positioned themselves so the Natalee sign was the first thing they saw entering and leaving.

Where were the Aruba supporters from FOB.  They had the same rights as our protesters.  They can't show their support for Aruba in person because they know Joran, Deepak, Satish and Paulus are guility as hell.  Where was Medley.  She isn't far from Boston.  She should have been there holding up her Anita sign Laughing .

MEDLEYRELAY - you copied my post to the wrong thread.  It should be directed at Utah and Paul in the Dana Pretzer show transcript thread.  Rolling Eyes

Hi Klaas and Monkeys.  If any visitors to the Boston show did not see the "Boston Five" and the signs then they must have had a guide dog with them.
I have enjoyed listening to the videos and reading the reports from the "Boston Five" (sounds  like a jazz group! ) and they did a magnificent job, as well as Red, Dana and Klass with compiling it all for us.  I really loved the sign that Hotshot's daughter made - she used such beautiful and peaceful colours.  Just reminds you of Natalee without even reading the words.  I am very impressed and I hope Hotshot tells her how much it affected me and I know it would have done the same to our other monkeys.

San while you are thinking of a title for your sign remember Lala's has her book at the ready and now I see LilPuma is considering joining the "book writers club".   Rolling Eyes   It is not safe anywhere any longer  Laughing

I believe Victor said the decision would be on March 29th.  Sounds like Victor is going to keep the persons name out of it when he reports what the judges ruling was though.

I also commend the Boston 5. Thank you for making a difference.

For the FOBers debating a protest needs thousands.  Please remember these wise words and multiply them by 5.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ONE
A young man,
walking along the beach at dawn,
noticed an old man ahead of him
picking up starfish and flinging them into the sea.

Catching up with the man,
the youth asked what he was doing.
The answer was that the stranded starfish
would die if left until the morning sun.

"But the beach goes on for miles,
and there are millions of starfish"
countered the young man.

"How can your effort make any difference?"

The old man looked at the starfish in his hand
and then threw it to safety in the waves.

"It makes a difference to this one," he said.

You could make a difference for Natalee and her family, if you tried. Evil or Very Mad
