I didn't read it all, but I don't think they're the same one.

At the end of the book they thank their families...Cole's wife...and then Douglas, Francesca, and Juliet.

One of the things I read in the book that didn't sit well with me...I'd really like to know if this is true.  That's the first I've heard about Steph Watts being aware of the contacts that Joran initiated with John Kelly and Beth and what he was proposing...before the sting operation actually took place.

This segment follows the details of Joran's extortion of Beth in 2010; at this point John Q. Kelly had been to Aruba on May 10th, given Joran the $10,000 in cash and Beth had made the wire transfer of the remaining $15,000 for the down payment.

Fox News producer Steph Watts had cautioned the Twitty-Kelly team about dealing with the cad, when he learned from them what Joran had proposed.  Watts had warned them not to give Joran any real money.  Coincidentally, $25,000 was the standard asking rate of Joran's "licensing" fee for an interview.  Steph said the probability of Joran fleeing Aruba once he had the down payment was almost certain.

Once back in New York, John Kelly continued his e-mail correspondence with Joran, as the deal had a $225,000 outstanding balance.  He underestimated the flight risk that Steph had cautioned them about.  As far as he was concerned, the FBI was monitoring the situation, having been involved in the sting.  The undercover extortion sting was kept under wraps.

It may not mean anything in relation to Steph Watts' knowledge of what was going on...but then again it might.  The possibility is more real to me with that being confirmed anyway.

Following up on the tip I reported her last week that John Q. Kelly was in Aruba twice in May, sources have now confirmed to me that it was John Q. Kelly, the Holloway family attorney who set up the sting operation on May 10.

It's in this video, I understood Peter say Greta van Susteren earlier at about the one minute mark and then Beth explains it at about 2:30.  They went into detail about it because Joran told John van den Hueval that Beth was the one that made the first contact...the emails prove otherwise.  In the second email to John Kelly, Joran states that this was an idea that he had discussed with Greta before but since she works for Fox she suggested that he contact John to see if he was interested.

If you notice in the original email, Joran tells John Kelly to contact him at the surferjohn82 email; but apparently John Q. Kelly didn't do that.  I can't read it all, but in the second email Joran says he (I'm assuming John Ludwick) didn't really want to get involved with it anyway.

John Ludwick told me he never asked his friend about the Holloway case “flat out” because “If I pushed him he would think I had other motives”. While most, including I, would find that hard to believe, it’s a point he remains firm on. He said the two did eventually discuss the case after they watched a Lifetime movie about the case one evening. Van der Sloot told him certain parts were true, while others were not. When I pressed Ludwick for more details, he remained tight-lipped. Interestingly, Ludwick who was house-sitting in Aruba, would leave the island on May 10th – just 2 ½ months after they first met and the same day Joran would meet Beth Holloway’s attorney, John Q. Kelly, as part of an alleged plot to extort money from her. Ludwick says van der Sloot never mentioned the alleged plot but he told him about a call van der Sloot got around that time where he was “trying to work out a deal for some money” and it was about the “Holloway situation.” Again his details were slim and when I pressed for more and he failed to elaborate. Also on May 10th, Joran would text his friend saying he was “done” with Aruba. Ludwick speculates maybe Joran was leaving because he knew he was set to meet with Kelly later that very day. Joran would indeed leave Aruba a few days later for his ill-fated trip to Peru after extorting $25,000 from Beth Holloway, according to the FBI.
