MD Man Stays Behind Bars In Woman's Disappearance
Monday, August 15, 2011

Prosecutors on the Caribbean island of Aruba say a judge has agreed to their request to continue holding an American tourist as a suspect in the death of a woman who was traveling with him.

The prosecutor's office says in a statement the judge accepted a petition to detain Gary V. Giordano for 16 more days.

Investigators say they need the additional time to investigate Giordano. Prosecutors have said he is a suspect in the death of travel companion Robyn Gardner.

At this time, the family is choosing not to speak with media, and appreciates that all media members continue to respect their privacy. Additionally, the Natalee Holloway Resource Center has set up a confidential tipline for any credible tips on Robyn’s disappearance or current whereabouts. Anyone with any information can call 407-237-2295.  All tips will be reported to the FBI for investigation.

Loving Natalee

The book retells events leading up to the night Natalee Holloway disappeared during a high school graduation trip to Aruba in 2005, and the ensuing investigation in the aftermath. It then focuses on the obstacles faced by the Holloway-Twitty family in their search for Natalee's whereabouts. Holloway recounts her anger at what she felt was a lack of cooperation from local authorities such as the Aruba Police Force, including the failure to obtain a warrant to search the home of suspect Joran van der Sloot.

Hiya Texasmom!  I wanted to post a few pics of Baby Beach just to show how isolated it is.  It is so calm until you get to the shell covered sandbar and opening.  We are excellent swimmers and snorkelers but that area looked and felt very rough so we did not venture out there.  Something about Baby Beach creeped me out while we were there.  You are very, very isolated.  Could you check your email and post the pics for me?!  Thanks and take care!

They showed Martin Savage (on Nancy Grace) in Aruba at the location where Gary Giordano said they went snorkeling, it was nothing like Baby Beach...it was down from it...rocky, even more secluded..and it doesn't make sense at all that anyone would've chosen that area to go snorkeling.

I don't think either one of them went snorkeling.

He's a big fat liar!

Thank you Texasmom!  Also thanks Klaasend for the aerial view!  I'm with everyone else, "what happened to no body no crime?!"  Did we ever find out whose jaw bone it was that washed up?  This "One Happy Island" sure holds lots of secrets.  Hugs to all you Monkeys and thanks again Texasmom!  My prayers are with Robyn's family.

Note with the satellite view you can plainly see that the current would tend to wash a body ashore at this location.

Blonde - I don't think she ever intentionally went in the water.  If she did and she drowned there, her body should have washed ashore.

Most of what we are posting in the Robyn Gardner case is being posted in her thread:

Missing in Aruba: Suspect Took Out $1.5 Million Insurance

Authorities in Aruba are investigating an insurance policy taken out by Gary Giordano before his trip to Aruba as a possible motive in the disappearance of missing Maryland woman Robyn Gardner.

The investigation into the $1.5 million accidental death policy on Gardner -- which names Giordano as a beneficiary -- has been confirmed exclusively with ABC News by a police source in Aruba, as has the fact that he purchased the pricier one-year policy over the cheaper, more commonly purchased five-year policy.

Thanks 4 Donks

It appears motive and premeditation has been established.

Missing in Aruba: Suspect Took Out $1.5 Million Insurance Policy

Authorities in Aruba are investigating an insurance policy taken out by Gary Giordano before his trip to Aruba as a possible motive in the disappearance of missing Maryland woman Robyn Gardner.

The investigation into the $1.5 million accidental death policy on Gardner -- which names Giordano as a beneficiary -- has been confirmed exclusively with ABC News by a police source in Aruba, as has the fact that he purchased the pricier one-year policy over the cheaper, more commonly purchased five-year policy.

<snipped>

Authorities said that that they found blood on a rock behind the dive shop at the Rum Reef Bar & Grill, which is the last place the two were seen together.

Investigators also told ABC News of Giordano's other erratic behavior at the time of the disappearance -- including that he left the search early to get some sleep at his hotel.

Three days after the search for Gardner began, Giordano got within feet of leaving the country before he was stopped at Aruba's airport, after passing through security and U.S. customs -- where he told customs he had to change flights because of weather, and inexplicably told officials that his travel companion was "taking another flight." When arrested, authorities say Giordano was drenched in sweat.

Soooo...December will be 18 months in prison awaiting trial.  If it doesn't begin by then, then Joran is released to await trial but must remain in Peru.  What is taking so long?  I think that I'll go and read some of the comments there.

If Van der Sloot is feared that enables slow release of the Dutch tax
The lawyer for the family of Stephany Flores said in late December, the confessed murderer will be 18 months in jail and if no statement to that date could be released

Wednesday August 17, 2011 - 9:46 a.m.

In a recent criminal record within the Castro Castro is seen by Dutch citizen Joran van der Sloot, confessed murderer of Stephany Flores Ramirez, receive quietly and without much concern a number of documents on the charges facing the crime of homicide against her.

The serenity of the professional poker player should be, according to the Flores family's lawyer, Edward Alvarez, the Public Ministry would allow slow release in late December when he turns 18 months in jail without trial.

Speaking to elcomercio.pe, Alvarez explained that the owner of the Ninth Criminal Court of Lima Senior Prosecutor, Miriam Riveros Castellares received early June, the case file and had a period of eight days to submit the charge for the Judiciary so that the trial against Van der Sloot begins. However, you have not already done so.

"This is an irresponsible fiscal, has amassed files and does not take into account the time (...) A person may not be detained more than 18 months without trial. Definitely is not qualified for the position. This is a case, but she seems to matter very little, "said the lawyer.

Woman's family wants speedy trial for van der Sloot
By the CNN Wire Staff
August 17, 2011 -- Updated 2200 GMT (0600 HKT)

(CNN) -- The family of a slain Peruvian woman is urging prosecutors to file their case against murder suspect Joran van der Sloot, warning that he may be released by December unless the case goes ahead.

"We are worried because Peruvian law says that if a suspect's trial doesn't begin within 18 months after his arrest, authorities are obligated to set the suspect free," Ricardo Flores, the dead woman's father, told CNN.
