Wonder where the "March" came from.  Either she's just barely pregnant, or he became a father in March.

He's been having visits from someone practically since he got there.

If there's not already a baby, maybe it's just another Joran lie.

Melody's expecting again...I'm sure he's gotten the news.

Wouldn't the people in Lima shun a girl that chooses to have a baby by the monster?

I have no idea.    The article posted you've referenced even says "besides is specula cu joran v/d sloot will owing to become father in month of march ultimo y will is manehando one kiosk for of the jail castro castro at lima."  With translations it can be hard to tell.  The past and present tense seems to be pretty loose at times, as is his/her, she/he    I wonder if it means he has already fathered a child, born last March?

I'm not sure, but I think his body had been stuck on the rocks out in the rough surf for quite a while.  I'm guessing after the amount of time it took to recover him, they didn't think there was any hope of reviving him.  Sad.

"Joran van der Sloot with new lawyer on the seat"
Updated: June 15, 2011 6:29 info

AMSTERDAM - Joran van der Sloot appeared on Tuesday (Peruvian time) with a new lawyer at a closed hearing.

So says Edward Alvarez, a lawyer representing the family of the deceased Stephany Flores. Van der Sloot was "nervous" when he realized that the father of Stephany in the hall, you know the lawyer.

The session, which consisted of two parts, was Tuesday at 12:30 CET and lasted about two hours. First was the father, Ricardo Flores, to see footage from a security camera at the hotel where his daughter in May last year was killed.

Then he had the opportunity to identify items that belonged to his daughter, but that Van der Sloot had been in possession.

Research

The two were included in the same room, but do not look right in the face, says the lawyer. The Tuesday afternoon session of the preliminary inquiry under Alvarez completed and is waiting for the indictment of justice.

After this, the trial against Van der Sloot start. "I expect that within about two months a sentencing", estimates the lawyer.

Van der Sloot Agrees to Cooperate with Peruvian Prosecutors

Updated: Wednesday, 15 Jun 2011, 7:25 AM CDT
Published : Wednesday, 15 Jun 2011, 7:25 AM CDT

(NewsCore) -  Joran van der Sloot, previously linked to the disappearance of US teen Natalee Holloway, has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in Peru over the murder of a local woman, raising hopes of a quicker conclusion to the case. Formal charges could be filed against the Dutchman as soon as Wednesday.

The 23 year old appeared in court in Lima on Tuesday charged with robbing and killing 21-year-old Stephany Flores in his hotel room in May 2010. He addressed the court in Spanish, according to a report in El Comercio.

Edwar Alvarez, a lawyer for the Flores family, told the newspaper that her father Ricardo Flores identified one of his daughter's wallets, found in van der Sloot's possession after he fled to neighboring Chile following her death. The grieving father was described as being calmer than he was last week -- when he first came face to face with the Dutchman in court -- but he choked up as he spoke to reporters outside.

"I have to consult my wife, but I'm 95 percent sure that [wallet] belonged to Stephany," he said.

Alvarez said the Flores family is seeking a sentence of life imprisonment for the Dutchman, considering this would be a "just penalty" for the crimes of robbery and murder. Van der Sloot's former lawyer, who quit unexpectedly earlier this month, had suggested a manslaughter plea with a reduced sentence of three to five years, arguing his client acted in "a fit of rage."

Joran van der Sloot agreed to cooperate in court and spoke in Spanish

Ricardo Flores said he was almost certain that the wallet was seized her murdered daughter Stephany Flores

Trade

Nearly 13 months after the crime, for the first time this research goes, the Dutch citizen Joran van der Sloot, charged with the murder of the young Stephany Flores Ramirez (21), agreed to cooperate with the judges of the Fourth Court Criminal defendants in jail, by the case and addressed them in Spanish during the diligence against him yesterday in the Miguel Castro Castro prison in San Juan de Lurigancho.

This was revealed by Edward Alvarez, a lawyer for the Flores family, to leave the meeting, which took place from 2:30 pm until 6 pm "There were three steps at a time. First viewed a video of the Municipality of Miraflores on the day of crime that did not provide any new data, then [Ricardo Flores] had to identify one of the wallets that had stopped to see if it was Stephany, and finally resulted listen to the driver that helped him flee [Ven der Sloot] by land to Chile, but this did not materialize because the attorney [the driver] did not arrive on time, "Alvarez said.

 ::snipping2::

Flores added that this time the Dutchman could only see his back. He insisted that the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE) eliminates the supposed benefits that would have in prison, to run a business selling snacks and receive visits, hours unauthorized Peruvian your supposed girlfriend, who would be a casino worker Atlantic City, where he met Stephanie. This Journal INPE consulted on both issues, but got no response.

Benefits of a Peruvian prison inmate Dutch

The court hearing held in Lima in the case of Dutch Joran van der Sloot, who is accused of murder of the young Peruvian Stephany Flores, threw in the legal surprises and interesting details about the privileges they enjoy the offender in jail.

 ::snipping2::

The Peruvian judicial system makes significant efforts to provide good service of justice, however, the criminal side is frightening insecurity. The appointment agreed never began at 14:30. She told Radio Nederland Ricardo Flores, father of the girl murdered, after four hours of long wait, and then repair the printer, expected to arrive and lawyers to resolve bureaucratic problems, the judge began the hearing, which had immediately frustrated by the absence of the lawyer for one of the witnesses.

The judge in the case is Dr. Flor de Maria Poma Valdivieso, owner of the Third Criminal Court to prison inmates in the Superior Court of Justice of Lima. At the beginning of the hearing, the judge asked directly the alleged killer: "Do you agree that this process be carried in Castilian hereafter?" Van der Sloot, who has a broad command of Castilian, and repeatedly refused to proceed views citing ignorance of the language, this time he did accept. Next, the judge set the road map of what, hereinafter will be the judicial process in terms of their language.

After that, the judge, as happened in the previous hearing, he asked Van der Sloot if it already had a lawyer. And like the previous occasion, the defendant did not have it, after which the judge asked a lawyer to defend him, and finally assigned a very young age. "I think that this guy is nothing," said Ricardo Flores with some disdain.

Sufficient resources
"I have privileges, I'm fine," said Van der Sloot week to Radio Nederland via an internet communication. The defendant has met adequate resources, from television interviews and by providing charged. It has a number of privileges for those who must pay a daily basis. Including the security service that keeps it separate from other prisoners and lets you have treats inside the prison.
However, perhaps his greatest privilege is to enlist the help of a young woman who accompanied him on the previous hearing, but this time was not present. "That girl works at the casino where he met Stephanie Van der Sloot," said Ricardo Flores of Radio Nederland. Not only that, since the days of visiting female inmates, the girl is engaged in the distribution of gas within the prison of the "Bodeguita" that Europe has been mounting with the money he has received for media interviews to media: "I think that move the merchandise from the shop with the money of the murderer of my daughter," he said Ricardo Flores.

Media interest
According to information from foreign correspondents arrived to Peru to interview Van der Sloot, has created a market around the accused, of which he is benefiting not only economically, but also lets you keep money inside the prison privileges, how to assemble your own business and have access to the Internet and other levels of communication. According to local sources, Joran Van der Sloot would charge about $ 250,000 for each interview.

In statements to our station, Ricardo Flores said she is aware of the impending arrival of a Dutch television crew, whose name I remember, and negotiated and negotiated an interview this week with Van der Sloot.

 ::snipping2::

On the one hand, recognizing Van der Sloot speaks Castilian and accept that the process be carried in that language, claim collapses of Habeas Corpus filed in the Constitutional Court, as its central argument is that the Dutch did not speak Castilian at the time police interview.

 ::snipping2::

According to his version, while he and the victim alone in the hotel room where the events occurred, she would have checked his computer while he was in the bathroom, and have found evidence of the murder of another young woman, Natalee Holloway. This fact would have lost to such a degree that killed the young Peruvian. However, the police high tech crime specialist, DIVINDAT would have found that night did not open any files from the personal computer of Van der Sloot, making this approach begins to wane.

Golden prisons

 ::snipping2::

But in Peru it is laughable that some criminal bearing the label of 'high security prison "as the" Castro Castro ". Two separate television reports, some years ago showed that a drug like Tijero Lucio had a 'chalet' as a cell. Marble had the floor, had 29-inch TV, DVD, cable, refrigerator, lamps, rugs, kitchen, phone.

Is that a maximum security prison? Other drug traffickers, such as Piura López Paredes, had a restaurant where they Acurio, offering arroz con pollo, ceviche, lomo saltado and fried rice. In the country there are no real high-security prisons.

If the 'Cholo Jacinto', from the prison of 'Yanamayo', according to a report of his own sister, telephone to threaten to kill his family and-counting-up orders to kill people who oppose the group he leads, who extorts and controls
construction unions in Callao. The "Cholo Jacinto 'has the luxury of keeping two women with children in houses with all appliances and amenities, although their wives do not work.

How do you talk on the phone every day, from a maximum security prison, where the first rule is that the defendant should not have any type of device? I tell you all this because I was struck by the testimony of Ricardo Flores,
Stephanie Flores's father, who was murdered by college Dutchman Joran van der Sloot.

'Rifle' was face to face with the murderer of his daughter and was surprised. "I was chubby and with a good face. Sure, if I have been informed that the criminal to have a kiosk where they sell candy and soft drinks. " If this is true, it would be inconceivable. Furthermore, it is said that Joran would have embarrassed a young woman working at a casino in Lima.

How did he do? If you can only legally be venusterio defendants who are married or living together show. Is the 'Castro' is a maximum security prison or a hotel? ". Geez, what a terrible situation. I'm outraged. Take care.

Formal charges to be filed soon against Joran van der Sloot

Joran van der Sloot and his new private defense attorney were in court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing. The hearing was held behind closed doors at the Castro Castro prison outside of Lima. No cameras were allowed.

A source close to the case told In Session van der Sloot was shown several surveillance videos including one of himself leaving the Atlantic Casino with victim Stephany Flores. Van der Sloot identified himself in the video and spoke fluent Spanish during the proceeding.

The victim's father, Ricardo Flores, was also present. He was asked to identify a wallet that was found inside van der Sloot's backpack when he was apprehended in Chile in June of 2010. The wallet belonged to his daughter Stephany. Ricardo Flores told the court he had given her $2,000 in cash to purchase a laptop the day before she was murdered.

On Wednesday, the case will go to the prosecutor's office so that formal charges may be filed. Once charges are filed, a three-judge panel will set the date for the oral trial to begin.

Joran van der Sloot case headed to prosecutor's office
By the CNN Wire Staff
June 15, 2011 -- Updated 1504 GMT (2304 HKT)

(CNN) -- The case against Joran Van der Sloot, who is suspected of killing a woman in a Peruvian hotel, was headed to the prosecutor's office on Wednesday.

Van der Sloot and his new private defense attorney were in court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing. The hearing was held behind closed doors at the Castro Castro prison outside of Lima. No cameras were allowed.

<snipped>

He was arrested in May 2010 following the death of Stephany Flores.

Formal charges could take up to two months to be filed, depending on the backlog. Once charges are filed against him, a three-judge panel will set the date for a trial to begin.

"For the Van der Sloot case, we may be looking at five to seven sessions for the oral proceedings, one session per week approximately," said Giovanna Gismondi, an expert on the Peruvian criminal legal system now teaching international relations at the University of Oklahoma.
