Biggest banks face capital clampdown

Global regulators are poised to set a new tiered regime of additional capital requirements for about 30 of the world’s biggest banks, in the latest effort to ensure the next financial crisis can be contained.

Here's what's interesting....  According to Forbes in 2008, Banco Santander was the 6th largest multinational company in the banking industry alone, and the 21st largest multinational company overall.

Banco Santander is out of Spain...which, if I recall correctly, is where Briesen was trying to do business on the new port construction in Aruba...without putting it out for bid.

I just thought it was interesting that this huge bank, ranked in the top 25 corporations in the world wasn't included in the list of banks in the Financial Times article.  I have no idea if it means anything, of course, but it does make me wonder why.

All of those charges have been made recently by Ricardo Flores, the father of murder victim Stephany Flores. And the claims and charges escalated after a prison court hearing for van der Sloot this Tuesday on robbery and murder charges.

But the Dutch website AD.NL is quoting an INPE report discounting all the allegations.

The INPE points out that van der Sloot is housed in a restricted wing of the prison with access to only five other prisoners. That would make the claimed snacks concession highly unlikely.

The prison bureau also says van der Sloot has had only one female visitor in his 13 months at the Castro Castro prison and that is believed to be the confrontation between him and Beth Holloway.
