Thank you for the book exerts.  Same Joran.  So scary that he was looking for the money for the poker entry fee.  Such elaborate "poor me" lies.

You're welcome Buckeye!

I don't know how many here bought the book, so I'm trying to share as much as I can; when I have the time to sit down and go back through it.  The book is one chapter about the events in Aruba, and then a chapter about the events in Peru and continues like that throughout; so sometimes it takes a while for me to find the parts that come to mind that I want to share.  That's why I seem to be jumping around in sharing the specific events.  I'd started doing chapter summaries and I may still eventually post those over in the book thread, but it is very time consuming...  I'm just not very good at summarizing.  It's been a real struggle to "snip" so much...I want to share it ALL...but I don't want to get in trouble either!

My guess is that if they recently met, on the internet....that "insurance scam" Aruba fallback, won't apply.

Maryland Woman Missing in Aruba

By Matthew Stabley |  Monday, Aug 8, 2011  |  Updated 8:14 PM EDT

Robyn Gardner

A woman from Maryland disappeared in Aruba last week.

Robyn Gardner, of Frederick, was last seen Aug. 2 at the Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino in Oranjestad, according to the Natalee Holloway Resource Center.

The 35-year-old reportedly disappeared on a snorkeling trip at Nanki in the Colony. The Aruba Herald reported a suspect was arrested Friday.

Gardner stands 5-foot-5-inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has blond hair, brown eyes, and tattoos on her rib cage, right bicep and left arm from the back of her shoulder to her elbow.

Her boyfriend contacted the Natalee Holloway Resource Center, which operates out of the National Museum of Crime and Punishment in D.C.

Anyone with information about the case should contact Aruba authorities at 011-297-597-5201.

I KNEW they must be spelling her name WRONG, they were spelling it GARBNER, instead of GARDNER

I agree, but we're reasonable people.  The facts don't seem to affect the speculation in Aruba though.

The guy she was traveling with is 50 years old and they met on the internet.  Perhaps they met just to have snorkleing companion, and her boyfriend couldn't go?????  BF is not  50.  Looks more in his 30s's.  ???

I've been reading the same... I think she'd only known the guy that they've arrested two months if I'm understanding correctly.  And that may have only been through the internet.

Scary huh?

Richard posted that she went to Aruba without him.  I posted a few of the FB comments over in the thread for Robyn.

I'm confused too klaas.  Richard has some explaining to do imo.

He claims he's been her boyfriend for over two years.  But she went to Aruba without him.

And that Gary Giordano has some explaining to do as well.

I've got a few questions for him, starting with...

How many times have you been to Aruba?

Who do you know in Aruba?

ETC...

I should have posted a link!

I just started the thread earlier and had been trying to find and take the posts I'd made here over there....without thinking to post a link to that thread here.

You're fine.  I've been the scattered one.

I was just so excited to FINALLY see something about her in ENGLISH!

I'd translated some of the (Aruba) articles every way I could think of and STILL couldn't understand very much.  Amigoe has gone mostly subscriber articles again so it was hard to figure out what might be going on.

It was really bothering me that no one (USA media wise) seemed to be paying attention to her being missing on that rock.  I was very relieved to see some carry the story today.

I hope they find her and she's safe.  But to be honest, I'm not very optimistic at this point.

Sad.

I have read many times that that area can be very dangerous.  I don't think they adequately warn tourists.  Maybe it was just an accident?  Why would someone she just met want to kill her?

I just posted another article (other thread) that said she'd been meeting him twice a month in the U. S., and  another article tells how the trip came about.  He used some points for the room(s) etc.

I think that area is dangerous in more ways than one.  I can't help but think she would have been found by now if she'd drowned.

And if they're calling the FBI in supposedly tomorrow...yeah I know..big IF.

I'm curious how long they'd been there...if they'd been out and about, if you know what I mean...can't help but think that way when I look at her.
