Missing in Aruba: Investigators Focus on Insurance Policy

Gardner, 35, has been missing for two weeks, since reportedly snorkeling with Giordano, 50, off of an isolated beach on Aug. 2. The two traveled together from Maryland to Aruba on July 31. She is now presumed to be dead by Aruba police.

Police are asking members of the public that may have information about Gardner's disappearance to call 011-297-582-0695 and leave their tip and contact information. The Natalee Holloway Resource Center, which is also helping with the case, has set up an American tip line at 407-237-2295.

Natalee Holloway's mother consoles Flores family

(CNN) -- The mother of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway talked to the family of a murdered Peruvian woman whose case may be linked to her daughter's, the Peruvian family told CNN's sister network In Session.

Beth Holloway gave the Flores family her "sincere, sincere condolences" when they spoke for the first time Wednesday, Enrique Flores told In Session's Jean Casarez.

Flores' sister Stephany was killed May 30. Joran van der Sloot, who is being held in connection with the killing, was twice arrested but never charged in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in 2005.

Beth Holloway told Enrique Flores she hoped his family would not go through what her family had suffered, he said.

I don't see Joran being set free in Peru, if he is someone will take him out and no one will ever be prosecuted for it.  If there's no money for a lawyer, there's no money for protection on the streets of Lima.

“Van der Sloot went on gambling after murder

Joran van der Sloot may have spent the night playing online poker after murdering Stephany Flores, according to Peruvian forensic investigators who have carried out a detailed examination of his laptop.

The detectives also found that Flores did not search for information on Natalee Holloway immediately before the murder, as Van der Sloot claims. The laptop was used to search for details of the Holloway case, but much earlier in the day, Dutch website Crimesite reports. Van der Sloot says he killed Flores in a fury when he saw she was reading about his alleged involvement in Holloway’s disappearance.

Between 04.24 and 08.23 Van der Sloot’s laptop was in use, with a number of pauses, and two poker websites were visited. This could suggest Van der Sloot went on playing poker after murdering Flores. Another possibility is that the murder took place after the poker games were finished. This would mean the killing did not take place during a row shortly after the two returned to the hotel at 05.30, as he claimed in his initial statement to the police.

Crime of passion

Van der Sloot says that after an evening at the casino he and Flores returned to the hotel at her suggestion to go on playing poker. When he checked his e-mail he found hate mail relating to his alleged involvement in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, he says. When he returned to the room after fetching coffee, he claims he found Flores using his laptop to look for information on the Holloway case, and lost his temper.

Van der Sloot’s defence lawyer argues he killed Flores in the heat of the moment when the row turned into a physical fight. The murder was therefore not premeditated but a ‘crime of passion’. But the data on the laptop shows the search for information on Holloway, said to have prompted the row, took place much earlier in the day, during the afternoon.

Joran van der Sloot Laptop Lie? Peru police say computer exposes lie in Stephany Flores killing

CBS/AP) LIMA, Peru - A study of Joran van der Sloot's laptop shows he is lying when he says he killed a young Peruvian woman in a fit of rage after she discovered his connection to Natalee Holloway's disappearance while using the computer, a senior Peruvian police official said Friday.

Stephany Flores did not view any such information on the laptop after accompanying Van der Sloot to the Lima hotel room where she was killed on May 30, the technology chief of Peru's police, Col. Oscar Gonzales, told The Associated Press.

"She didn't view anything about Holloway. It's a lie that she tried to ask him about (the case)," Gonzales said.

It is highly unlikely that Dutch murder suspect Joran van der Sloot will be released from remand before he stands trial, says Peruvian legal expert Mario Amoretti.

Van der Sloot is suspected of the murder of Stephany Flores, a 21-year-old student who was found dead in his hotel room in Lima over a year ago. He was arrested in June 2010 and has been in custody since. Under Peruvian law, remand is limited to 18 months.

Delay
The Flores family’s lawyer Edward Alvarez had complained that no indictment against Van der Sloot had yet been formulated. He warned that the delay could lead to the suspect being released to await the start of the trial in freedom in Peru.

The Peruvian justice authorities have confirmed that Van der Sloot’s remand can indeed be extended as Mr Amoretti says, but stress that there’s as yet no question of that being necessary. The Public Prosecutor is said to have received the file in July and to be dealing with the case.

I say that knowing that an "alive" Joran might finally give up where Natalee is -- sadly, the truth is he will NEVER give it up. I say ------ be done with him.

The writing of the book actually evolved over a period of time. Shortly after this happened to Natalee, I made a pledge that I would share her story with every high school I could, because I hoped that no other family would have to endure the challenges that we faced during our first few weeks in Aruba. I lived in Aruba for about four months while I was searching for her, and during the fifth month, I thought it was time for me to make good on my pledge as Natalee’s case was now in the hands of John Kelly, attorney at law.
