Police are actively searching the shallow snow-making pond. They expanded the scene and pushed media back from the area at about 9 a.m.

There were unconfirmed reports that a body was found in the pond, but authorities have not yet addressed the media to confirm whether that was true.

The pond is near a child care center at the base of the mountain. It is not the same pond that was drained a couple of days ago. That retaining pond was near the parking lot where Dittmeyer's car was found.

www.wmur.com is reporting the same thing.  that there was a body found.  UNCONFIRMED at this time Sad

Does any one know where she was the night before? Have they said why she was in North Conway? I mean the fact the car was there with the engine running with a child in the back seat. Was the car driven to NH and parked there or was she visiting NH? Its not that far a trip from Portland, ME to North Conway at all.

Has anyone stated why she was there?

Red,  we heard she was going to visit friends.  The timeline hasn't been spelled out but I bet she was headed out there Friday Night because they found the car pretty early Saturday morning.

 ::snipping2::

A call went out on the scanner that there was a possible body in the snowmaking pond, according to witnesses. The police are not commenting to the press until this afternoon at a 3 p.m. press conference.

Ok thanks ... so she has friends in the area and now there are reports that a second car is being searched but will not provide the name of the owner. Hmm.

Krista Dittmeyer Missing in North Conway, NH: Police Search Pond Near Cranmore Mountain Ski Resort, 2nd Car Seized
http://scaredmonkeys.com/2011/04/27/krista-dittmeyer-missing-in-north-conway-nh-police-search-pond-near-cranmore-mountain-ski-resort-2nd-car-seized/

So riddle me this Batman ... police believe that Krista was a victim of a crime and did not go willingly. Blood also found in the vehicle. Yet, who ever did this to her left her car with a flashing red flag as the hazards were left on and the baby was left in the vehicle. It almost appears that some one wanted the car found. The fact the hazard lights were on means the battery had not gone dead yet so it was not there for too many hours.

Or is the scenario that Krista left Portland. ME very early in the AM to go visit friends in Conway, NH ... her car broke down, she put her hazard lights on and was waiting for help? Of course she did have a cell phone and one would have called some one that they broke down so its pretty much a sure thing that the car was purposely left in the parking lot.

Thoughts?

Red,  your scenarios could be right however the car was running with the hazards on so the car could have been disabled another way.  It was cold and maybe whoever is involved had a bit of remosre about the baby and left her to be found?  Cellular service is a little spotty out there because of the mountains too.

I'm more interested in the 2nd warrant that had been issued for a second vehicle.....whose was it and what did they find?

The attorney general's office announced that it would hold a news conference at 6:30 p.m.

Earlier Wednesday, police blocked off a pond area in Conway. The pond is a quarter-mile across the base of Cranmore Mountain from where Dittmeyer's car was found.

NH police search pond near where woman's car found
Posted: Today at 4:30 pm EDT

Crime scene tape cordoned off an area around what is known as Duck Pond. Investigators moved swiftly as the dive team was brought in and missing mom Krista Dittmeyer's family lives on hope.

snipped
The area near the pond is heavily wooded and a wide swath of it remains roped off. Employees in the immediate area were sent home from work, and others arrived there with a feeling of dread.

But until officials confirm they have found a body or identify it, the media keeps its eye trained on the crime scene and police details keep everyone out.

A police briefing at 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon was cancelled. 7NEWS was told that no briefing has been set since.

Very possible?

Could it be that Krista made the decision to take her own life?  The vehicle door was left open and hazard lights were turned on to call attention to others that a sleeping baby was inside.

The new conference happening in about 30 minutes should shed some light on this sad situation.

How sad, although the way this story was playing out tit did not sound like this was going to end well.

I will say that thankfully the little infant girl was not harmed.

May Krista Dittmeyer rest in peace. My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends. This is all so very sad and hits so close to home. I know that area like the back of my hand. I have actually even pulled off in that parking lot in the off season like in April and May when rain storms hit and was too bad to drive.

I have vacationed in the White Mtns and hiked, fished, canoed and skiied there. Conway was always a mental sanity getaway for me and many of my friends over the years. So sad that such a terrible event would hit such a peaceful place.

What a shame.
