Really dumb question about the sequestration of George and Cindy.....

Can the judge order them not to TIVO or watch the proceedings on TV??? I mean if we can watch it, Cindy and George will be watching and reading Scared Monkeys til all hours of the night and they will know what was going on while they were sequestered.

Does this make any sense? It has been bothering me for a long time. TIA JSM 

JSM...do not make me smack you!!   I guess he can order anything he wants but enforcing it would be a whole different story. But IMO he wouldn't even try to 'order' anything like that. In this case I think the sequestering is more to keep thhem for any outbursts that might lead to a mistrial.

I have seen cases where material witnesses were sequestered. I don't know if the judge will go that far, but it is possible.

It was not on there that I could find. I am thinking they are mixed up and the motion to keep them out of the courtroom is what they are talking about. They are so lame sometimes, it makes me wonder if they are really attorneys.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Lawyers for Casey Anthony don't want her own parents in the courtroom during her upcoming first-degree murder trial.
George and Cindy Anthony had asked Judge Belvin Perry for an exemption. Without that, they aren't allowed to attend because they are listed as witnesses.
Courts generally do not want witnesses hearing other testimony, in fear that it could change what the witnesses say on the stand.

I think bozo knows he has one chance at this and to risk the Anthonys being in that courtroom would risk his case. That is one smart thing I have seen him do.

There have been trials where material witnesses were kept in a hotel like the jurors to keep them from having any information on the proceedings. That is usually in federal cases, but I have seen it recently in a state murder case.

I never thought about their outbursts causing a mistrial. I thought more like them trying to get their stories lies straight every time they aren't in court.

There was one in an adjoining state where they kept some of the material witnesses in the hotel where they had the jury but on a different floor. Of course that involves court guards so to do it would require additional expense. In that that case, the judge felt it was necessary to prevent any coercion or intermingling of the witnesses. I think it would be a good idea in this case knowing the Anthonys.

I think it will be very difficult for the public who plan to attend the trial.  Once they have their morning pass, they are not assured they will receive an afternoon pass.  Wonder if some will bring there lunch and leave the morning court only to line up again while eating lunch.  Or maybe the line up will have begun before lst seesion breaks.

I would opt to watch on tely... but then I don't live in Flda.   

I believe the afternoon passes are only available if those who attended the morning session do not also opt for the afternoon one.

I have heard of witnesses being sequestered in a federal case...but am not aware of any state cases...but I sure take your word on it. But I don't believe JP could order them not to watch TV or the proceedings on the internet.
