Dear Judge Eaton: Is the jury selection process open to the public? -- C.J., Tallassee, Ala.

Yes. The public can attend jury selection. The seating will be limited because of the size of the courtroom, and Judge Belvin Perry is going to give passes at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Dear Judge Eaton: Will Casey be at jury selection, and will she have a say? -- Lynne, McHenry, Ill.

Casey will be at jury selection, and she will confer with her lawyers during jury selection. Each side has unlimited challenges for cause and 12 peremptory challenges. The judge has discretion to increase the number of peremptory challenges. In capital cases, the challenges for cause are usually focused on whether the juror can fairly consider both the death penalty and life imprisonment as possible sentences.

loca, it will be interesting to see if and how Casey interacts with her atty's during the jury selection process.  Will she be Miss proficient para legal, taking notes, eyeballing the jurors, giving some of them the eagle eye?

And he doesn't want young mothers.  I think that's a mistake.  A young, single mother that likes to club would probably be able to empathize with KC.  Especially if that person were still living at home.

I think it will be very difficult for the public who plan to attend the trial.  Once they have their morning pass, they are not assured they will receive an afternoon pass.  Wonder if some will bring there lunch and leave the morning court only to line up again while eating lunch.  Or maybe the line up will have begun before lst seesion breaks.

I would opt to watch on tely... but then I don't live in Flda.

Yes, a young Mother would certainly relate to some of the restrictions of parenthood.

I think the State would not want young men, either.  Too liberal in their thinking, possibly.

The one thing I really like about the seating chart is that most of the public gets the better seats up close.  Only one row of media in front of them. Marinade Dave is waaay back there. lol

I've thought about this myself, Can.  In my mind, ICA will be very very interested in who will be judging her.  If I had to guess, I would say she will most likely want younger (less attractive in her eyes) women, and 20-30 year old men whom she thinks find her totally hot.  Then she'll throw in a liberal thinking older woman or two, and maybe a couple of older men if she thinks they will sympathize with her (or find her sexually interesting).  She's always about manipulating people.
