Holly Bobo Family Opens Up On OpenLine
Posted: Aug 09, 2011 7:43 PM PDT
Updated: Aug 09, 2011 8:16 PM PDT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - It will soon be four months since anyone has seen Holly Bobo alive. Her family is desperate to keep her case, and her face, out there in the public.

"I'm just doing what any loving parent would do and that is pleading and begging for anyone to come in and help," said Karen Bobo, Holly Bobo's mother.

Mrs. Bobo also revealed she had just recently even written the president for help in finding her 20-year-old daughter, missing since the morning of April 13.

On Tuesday night, Karen Bobo along with her husband, Dana, and son, Clint, agreed to take calls from NewsChannel 5 viewers during the hour-long, live broadcast of "OpenLine" on cable channel NewsChannel 5+.

Karen Bobo admitted she has had a hard time understanding the TBI's initial suspicion of Clint Bobo, Holly's brother. Clint Bobo was the first to be interrogated that fateful morning, since he was the last to see her alive.

Asked by host Kristin Priesol how he's coping, Clint Bobo replied:  "I spend every day and some effort to try to bring Holly home and I either search or I go around a different local businesses and towns and distribute fliers."

<snipped>

Dad Dana Bobo is back to work, but Karen Bobo, a school teacher, remains off the job. And money, she said, goes toward the family's day-to-day expenses as well as toward funding the ongoing search.

The reward for clues or information leading to an arrest has now grown to $85,000.

Several callers offered hope and support to the family, including Bo Tuders, the father of still missing Tabitha Tuders.

Karen Bobo said she heard from the mother of Natalie Holloway just this past Sunday; she also spoke recently with the once missing Elizabeth Smart and her father, who also offered encouragement.

"Her father, of course, his advice was as what we're trying to do, keep her name out there," Karen recalled.

TBI Director Mark Gwyn

Official: No one cleared in TN woman's abduction
Last Update: 4/18 8:34 pm

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say no one has been eliminated as a suspect in the disappearance of 20-year-old Holly Bobo, believed to have been abducted last week from her West Tennessee home.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Director Mark Gwyn asked the public for help Monday, urging them to think about any strange behavior from people they know since Bobo disappeared on Wednesday.

Law enformement officials said last week that Bobo's brother and boyfriend were not suspects but Gwyn told The Associated Press that the TBI hasn't cleared anyone, "no matter what their relationship" is to the victim.

Hard Rock Café to Host Hope for Holly Benefit
 8/10/11

Candlelight vigil also being held at fairgrounds

A number of Nashville musicians will gather at the Hard Rock Café this Saturday for a fundraiser to benefit the family of missing Darden resident Holly Bobo.

The Hope for Holly benefit concert and silent auction starts Aug. 13 at 9 pm in the Hard Rock Café’s Reverb Room at its location on Broadway in downtown Nashville.

The event marks the four month mark since Holly Bobo went missing on April 13. The 20-year-old nursing student was last seen being led away from her home by a man dressed in camouflage. The Hope for Holly benefit is one of many that have been held in recent months to aid Bobo’s family as they continue to search for her.

Also on Saturday, a candlelight vigil and gospel singing will be held on the final night of the Decatur County Fair. The vigil begins at 7 pm and participants are asked to bring your own candle to the fairgrounds convention center.

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) - You've seen the picture of her with makeup on. You've seen the one without it. Now Holly's parents are releasing a new picture where Holly isn't smiling, and this is just one thing she's doing to help bring her daughter back.

"Every morning of course I wake up with the same prayer 'Let today be the day that Holly arrives home safely to us,'" said Karen Bobo, Holly's mom.

Karen Bobo is no longer a teacher. Instead she spends her days going from business to business in Parsons and door to door handing out flyers and searching for unfound clues.

IN A NUTSHELL

ISSUES WITH JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL
Aired August 4, 2011 - 19:00:00 ET

<snipped>

C. BOBO: I was asleep in my bedroom and I was awoken by the sounds of our house dog barking.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And what did you see?

C. BOBO: I saw the silhouette of two people in our garage. At the time I had no idea who either one of the people were. And then come to realize later that that was my sister and her abductor.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Wait, in the garage?

You were -- how do you -- when you`re asleep -- I`m just trying to get a picture. You`re asleep and then how do you see what`s going on in the garage? Ok, the dog barks, you wake up. Are you on the same level -- it`s all one floor.

C. BOBO: Right. Yes, we have a one story house?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And you walk into the garage?

C. BOBO: No, I saw them from inside the house and they were outside the house in the garage.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: They were in the garage or outside the garage?

C. BOBO: They were inside the garage.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Ok so as you watched, it was a man inside the garage with your sister and then what happens?

C. BOBO: And then I got in touch with my mom and found out that Holly was supposed to be in school that morning and realized that that must have been her at the house and then I looked back out and saw Holly and a male walking towards the woods and that`s the last time I saw her.

CONTRADICTION?

ISSUES WITH JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL
Aired August 4, 2011 - 19:00:00 ET

<snipped>

VELEZ-MITCHELL: When you saw them kneeling down did you think to ask them or approach them? How far away were you?

C. BOBO: No, I assumed -- I was inside the house and I assumed that that was Holly and her boyfriend Drew and he was dressed in full camouflage so I thought that Drew had been to the woods and killed a turkey and brought it back to the house and the two were sitting there over the turkey talking. After I saw the blood, I thought that was blood of a turkey that Drew had killed.

Janet ~ what are your personal thoughts/opinions on this, if you wouldn't mind sharing?

I do not understand why Clint Bobo's recollections change with the wind . . . or, maybe I'm not reading correctly.

Could it be that that Holly met an unintentional demise through an act of wrongdoing in the hours prior to Karen and Dana leaving the home on the morning of April 13th?  Could the abduction account ... the abduction account that Clint cannot seem to get straight ... have been collaborated/staged?  Could it be that the silence forthcoming from investigators imply that there is a person of interest but without evidence/ witness/ body/ confession the case cannot move forward?

Inquiring minds want to know:

1. Where had the Bobo vehicle been parked? In the carport?  Anywhere near the blood without a trail?

2. Where did Dana go after dropping Karen off at the school?

3. In the process of elimination in the Holly Bobo investigation, was the Bobo vehicle confiscated and forensically searched?

4. In the process of elimination in the Holly Bobo investigation, did Clint, Karen, Dana and Drew all submit to and pass polygraphs?

5. In the process of elimination in the Holly Bobo investigation, were respective cell phone records requested?

6. In the process of elimination in the Holly Bobo investigation,were computer hard drives analyzed?

7. In the process of elimination in the Holly Bobo investigation was there a forensic search of the home and property?

In other words ... in the process of elimination in the Holly Bobo investigation was the Bobo family investigated and ruled out as potential suspects?

The Killing of Polly Klaas

<snipped>

The girls were giggling and playing a board game called Perfect Match when Polly decided it was time to fetch her friends' sleeping bags from the living room.  She opened the bedroom door and saw a heavily muscled middle-aged man who was a complete stranger.  He was holding a knife and he immediately ordered, "Don't scream or I'll cut your throats!

<snipped>

"I'm just doing this for the money," the stranger said.

Polly offered him a box with $50 in cash.  He refused it and told the three girls to lie down on the floor.  Then he tied their hands behind their backs and placed hoods over their heads.

"I'm not going to hurt you," he assured them.  "I'm just doing this for the money," he repeated.

"Please don't hurt my Mom and sister," Polly begged.

Kate and Gillian heard the terror in their friend's voice. This was no joke.

The stranger picked the 12-year-old Polly up and told her friend to "count to 1,000" before they did anything.

Then he carried Polly out of her home.

<snipped>

As was standard in such cases, both Eve Nichol and her ex-husband, Polly's father, Marc Klaas, took polygraph tests.  Both were ruled out as suspects.

According to Karen Bobo ... it appears that investigators were skeptical of Clint's changing stories regarding an alleged abduction from the getgo.

On April 13th on the TBI website the News Release by TBI Kristen Helm states that Holly was observed being "dragged" from the carport into the woods.

On April 16 TBI John Mehr reveals in a press briefing that Holly was not "dragged" after all. She was observed "walking" into the woods with her alleged abductor.

Considering there was only one witness ... considering investigators were not present ... logic dictates that it was Clint's account that changed.

Could it be that the changing account came about when investigators questioned Holly's 25 year old brother did not immediate take off on foot ... jump on an ATV ... to assist his younger sister who he observed being "dragged" into the woods?

Nearly three months after Decatur County nursing student Holly Bobo went missing, the Tennessee River Rider's Association held a benefit bike ride to raise money to assist the Bobo family Saturday.

"Trying to raise money for the Bobo family. They've got expenses like everyone else and I know they've been off from work for quite a while," said Garry White, president of the Tennessee River Rider's Association, who donate time to people in need. "Just trying to help people that are down and out. There are tragedies all across the country," said White.

T-shirts bearing the favorite scripture of Holly's mother were sold for the Holly Bobo Fund.

The proceeds are not going to the reward fund, but to the Holly Bobo Fund.

D'Lynn Burton, a close family friend and neighbor, helped sell the shirts after working with Holly's mother on the design and wording.

"When Holly comes home,[Holly's mother] wants her to have some money so she can go on a vacation, or just treat herself with anything she wants."

So far 2,500 shirts have been sold at $12 apiece.

It's in an indication that Holly's family and close friends strongly believe she is alive somewhere.

It is the contradictions that cause inquiring minds to suspect that Clint is not being forthcoming.

Clint states to JVM that he was not concerned about what he perceived was turkey blood in the carport but ... according to TBI John Mehr the blood did concern Clint. I can assume that this spokesperson for the investigation derived his words in his media briefing three days following the disappearance of Holly from Clint's statement ... Clint's 911 call.

Mehr said investigators “did not see drag marks.” He added she was “not forcefully dragged and she’s like any other victim, maybe complying with her attacker, but she walked into the woods” outside her Pasrons, Tenn. home.

Bobo’s 25-year-old brother Clint watched from inside the home, but did not believe she was being abducted until later. He saw the stranger from behind and believed it was his sister’s boyfriend.

Her brother, said Mehr, “had reasons to believe [the man] was not an attacker,” and did not call 911 until he saw blood outside.

August 4th - Clint Bobo - Turkey Blood?

ISSUES WITH JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL

VELEZ-MITCHELL: When you saw them kneeling down did you think to ask them or approach them? How far away were you?

C. BOBO: No, I assumed -- I was inside the house and I assumed that that was Holly and her boyfriend Drew and he was dressed in full camouflage so I thought that Drew had been to the woods and killed a turkey and brought it back to the house and the two were sitting there over the turkey talking. After I saw the blood, I thought that was blood of a turkey that Drew had killed.

When and why did Karen speak to Drew Scott on the morning of April 13th ... Drew Scott whose profile has been non-existence from the getgo?

She also called Clint at home. He came to realize the man he saw with Holly was not her boyfriend.

“I had spoken with Holly, my mother and her boyfriend, all that morning. And of course Clint didn't know any of this, so I knew her boyfriend wasn't here,” Karen Bobo said.
