Same here.   He would have to use his vacation or sick leave.   

Yep, and when/if that runs out, it's simply time off without pay.

A child in the nursing home that he takes care of....another person that defense wouldn't want on the jury.

They will have a lot of younger ones who live paycheck to paycheck that could not miss 8 weeks of pay checks. Then we have retirees who have a secondary business that can't just walk away from their business. Looks like all we are going to get are well healed retirees, ones with good jobs and welfare drags.

I would bet the defense does not want the nurse they called earlier who said she could do it.

Hi everyone! This is my first post-but have been a lurker for years! I live a few miles from the Pinellas County courthouse and drove by there on my way home from work an hour ago-it's a zoo over there! I have never wanted jury duty so bad as I do today!! Casey Anthony has been in our local news a lot over the past 3 years, and everyone I talk to knows about this case, so I'm not sure why they chose Pinellas County....but I'm glad they did! Justice is coming Caylee!

Seems to me that anyone facing such a long jury duty would likely have a financial hardship, unless they are independently wealthy.  This jury selection could take forever. 

Hi Wyks!!!  Unless the employer pays a full salary during that period, in the world we live in today, as you say unless someone is independently wealthy I would think it would be a hardship unless retired persons. My DH and I are both retired. Either of us would be able to serve...but  I personally would hate to be away from my family, friends and my canine babies that long

I'm very curious as to what the final make up of this jury is going to look like. So far, it appears to be a bit of a "Men's Club".

CBB, as much as I hate to say this, imo, this sequestration process just breeds "stealth" jurors.

That is, people that are trying to get on this jury for their own agenda.

Realistically, some prisoners in Florida will have more freedom than these jurors.

Put yourself in their shoes- I cannot imagine coming home and saying to Mr. Blink, O, btw, kids, house, life as we know it is all on you for the next 8 weeks, in addition to your work responsibilities, and for the privilege, there will be a loss of income and ZERO  "lovin" unless we can get some deputy to look the other way for a few hours, lol.

It is unnatural, and it is flat out a bad idea, but is what it is.

Yes, seems to be mostly men.  Women would be "harder" on KC.  Especially older women.  Mason sure wanted to keep that younger woman who acted sort of "young"...lost out on that one.
