Goodmorning all.

Just wanted to point out a couple of things about the "Frisking video".

I was surprised to see Pinellas County being so lax with their security.

This is a high profile case.

When an inmate returns to a facility, they are supposed to be searched for contraband, weapons and just anything not permitted in the facility that the defendant can pick up while away (a pen can be used as a shank, a paper clip can be used to jam cell doors or tamper with handcuffs, to name a few).

Casey was frisked, and a metal detector run over her.

Not once did the metal detector go over her head, not once did the officer make her take her hair down to see what possibly could have been hidden in it, and not once did the officer check Casey's feet.

In my own experience, I have discovered several razor blades (taken out of disposable razors) placed under the accussed toes.  Another time, a 6" fold out knife in someone's shoe coming into the facility.

Routine pat downs include checking the hair and feet. 

This was neglected and over looked, creating a breach in standard security for this high profile case.

I keep wondering why the Ants are not @ jury selection.  Especially Cindy, since she has attended all the hearings.
Jo Dimitri (sp) jury consultant for O. J. trial said last night on Nancy Grace that the defendant is most always represented by family, and that it is important that the prospective jurors see that.
I wonder if Cindy and George are preoccupied this week with preparing for their own testimony in the trial.  Goodness knows, they've created quite a complex conundrum for themselves with all their statements and falsehoods.
I mean, how far can the grieving grandparent, or medication excuse go with the superior team of Ashton/Burdick?

Also wonder if Cindy was hoping to visit Casey and beg for her to take a plea.  I could see C doing that and offering Casey the world when she gets out of prison.  It would certainly solve a lot of problems for C & Geo.

When I think that Casey doesn't have a single soul, friend or family member excluding her parents (not sure about Geo. now), it is quite startling.  Guess Casey hasn't fooled too many people, after all.

A judge in the case has set a goal to have a jury in place by Friday but Cohen says that's highly unlikely. He estimates it could take as long as a month or two to find people who have not already made up their minds on the case.
Although it might take time, Fitzgibbons feels confident a jury can be found in Pinellas.
"Even cases like O.J. and a number of other celebrated cases, they have eventually found jurors who were able to do their job."

Perry said Monday that there's one issue that concerns him about the case -- a database of 478 chemicals used by Dr. Arpad Vass of the Oakridge National Laboratory that Vass claims signal decomposition.
Baez wants to see the list, but has not obtained it.
Prosecutor Jeff Ashton said that the FBI owns the list, and it could have been obtained through a request.
In an order issued early Monday by Perry, he allowed the evidence in the trial, but said late Monday afternoon that he may not allow Vass' testimony if the database is not obtained.
"It is very troubling to me," Perry said on the issue of the database.
Perry said he had staff attorneys researching the issue and was willing to call the FBI himself to resolve the matter.

Thank you to everyone that provided updates yesterday - I only got to watch in fits and starts since I had three 4 year olds!  Today I will catch only parts since I have to go to my mother in laws house and get ready for an estate sale - don't people know that I have jury selection to watch!

Day 2 Of Jury Selection To Begin In Casey Trial

More than 30 potential jurors have already been dismissed because of family obligations or financial difficulties.

The judge will immediately move to the second half of the jury pool on Tuesday to find out first who has a hardship that prevents them from being sequestered for up to two months.

So far, more than one quarter of the jury pool has been dismissed, totaling 33 out of 67 questioned so far.

They told Judge Belvin Perry they could not drop out of their own lives to deliberate Casey's life in her capital murder trial.

WFTV's legal experts said the quickly dwindling pool might need more people and could possibly bring in a second round of potential jurors.

Casey broke down on Monday as Perry told jurors that she's accused of killing 2-year-old Caylee and dumping her body in a wooded area near the her home. She stopped crying during a description of where her remains were found.

“It seemed like an obvious ploy for sympathy, but I was struck by the fact that throughout she couldn't look any of the potential jurors in the eye,” said jury expert Dr. Randy Fisher. “I think they noticed and I think the impression they formed of Casey was not a good one.”

The judge told jurors to ignore Casey's emotions as he pressed more jurors about their difficulties.
