Thanks northern -- I didn't not know that. EEEKS. Sounds like a novel.

Since you mention that, last night found that she sold her story rights to Larry Garrison (the some one from early on in this case) and that she has recently done a case with Terence Lenamon who filed an appeal to get her paid more and won.  That is all in the last thread as well with links.

ok, what are the arguments for and against an atheist?
good or bad for the defense?

I'd guess "good" for the defense, but that's just my opinion. Not all "believers" have ethical standards and certainly not all atheists lack them, but there are definitions of right and wrong based on scripture that those who propose to believe should be familiar with and at least verbalize agreement with. It just seems to me that atheism relies more on the "human condition" to determine right and wrong whereas believers submit to a "divine" standard and justice based on that.

JUST MY OPINION and not intended to offend anyone! I'm positive there are many examples from both persuasions that would contradict what I just said!
CBB,
that's pretty much what I was thinking.  I don't know any true atheists, but my thinking is that if an atheist doesn't believe in Heaven or hell, then how does that impact them when it comes to the death penalty?  Would it be easier to say, an "eye for an eye" and be done, if you don't believe in Heaven or hell?  I'm a Christian, but I could impose the death penalty for someone whom I feel deserved it.  Thanks for responding.

Going over case law... I think I heard something about "odor."   Not sure  but the sound seems better now.   It was very difficult to hear what CBJP was saying

Here's the smell of pizza in a car trunk in Florida heat -- here's the smell of a decomposing body. Can you smell the difference?

Only two

CBJP is now discussing that some of the questions are making this go too long.   He is releasing some of the potential jurors & doesnt sound like we're getting thru all of them today.    No shock here at this rate.

Round 3?  OMG....all this for them to most likely step in the courtroom and claim it was an accident.

MOO but I would say bad for the defense.  My feeling is that an atheist would have few qualms about voting for the death penalty.
My dad was an atheist who insisted we go to church because it was a good moral base. He believed in obeying the law and living by the golden rule. He was an honorable and respected man.
Your dad sounds like a fine man.  Did he ever voice his opinion on the death penalty?

Is Foghorns asking if he's ever cursed?
What an idiot.

I'm cursing inside right now -- would be a great answer.

Excuse me? I missed that, I had to get a meal in my stomach.

Wasn't it Mason that called Kathi Belich a "beotch" not that long ago when she tried to do her job on the way out of court?
