Casey Anthony Jury Selection: After A 10 Day Ordeal, The End Is In Sight
First Posted: 05/19/11 08:54 PM ET Updated: 05/19/11 10:23 PM ET

CLEARWATER, FLA. -- The Casey Anthony first-degree murder trial is moving forward, as the effort to pick a jury in this high profile case nears completion.

After 10 days, 14 potential jurors have been selected but not sworn in. Judge Belvin Perry is adamant that a 12-member jury will be seated by midday Friday; however, both sides still have two more chances to challenge for cause. If that happens, the process could be extended into the weekend.

Officials looking for stealth jurors in Casey Anthony trial
By Adam Longo, Reporter
Last Updated: Friday, May 20, 2011 5:32 AM

CLEARWATER --

Lawyers on both sides of the case against Casey Anthony have been asking each potential juror a lot of questions.

That's because both sides are on the lookout for any jurors with an agenda other than performing their civic duty.

"In high profile cases sometimes you have these stealth jurors," said Headline News host Vinnie Politan, a former prosecutor who has spent a lot of time around big-time trials. "These are the jurors that want to be in that box."

"The people I worry about are the people who want to be on the jury," said Miami criminal defense attorney Roy Black. "People who don't want to be on the jury, I like them."

Black has defended high-profile clients over his entire legal career.

I have a question - I think it was the defense attorney AF asking the PJ about if Mercy should be taken into consideration, I believe when they were talking about the sentencing phase.  It seemed to me alot of the PJ hesitated before answering, like I would have also.  What exactly does this mean.  I know what Mercy means to me - but why are they asking this to a PJ.  I thought it was a court of LAW.

Opinions?

True - but when you get to the penalty phase all bets are off - the goal of the DT is to make the beaoch appear as pitiful as possible to save her life. I think this has been the goal all the time - get a jury that will make her get life with out parole.

Good morning Monkeys!
Another day closer to justice for Caylee!
 ::justice2NJ::

Mercy is unmerited forgiveness IMO.  It is something we desire, but do not and cannot earn.  Mercy comes from goodness of the heart IMO.
AF is asking if the PJ can have mercy on this poor, pitiful murderer of a baby. IMO

Thanks TBM and Sister.  I don't know why I am struggling with this being asked to the PJ.  I agree with both of your answers.  Mercy comes from within.  I am not sure that LWOP is mercy?  Mercy comes from God, not one of us.

I don't have a problem with LWOP.  Sounds like a lifetime of hell to me.

I know this is not a popular opinion but I would rather see her get LWOP since she would have to see the world go on without her every day of her miserable life. There are less appeals and someone will likely give her the death penalty in the prison. Even among criminals there are somethings that are not tolerated.

Just saw WhoreAldo on Fox News.  He described the state prosecutor as being out of control and trying to "murder" KC.  Said if she had been an African American or Latina, that the death penalty wouldn't have been an option.

Of course, he also said his show Sunday would be from Orlando.   ::MonkeyJnBox::I think I will find something else to do during that time.
