The 68K is probably the unpaid tax on the money Casey got from selling the photos.  this brings up some interesting questions.  If that is the subject of the IRS' interest, I believe Baez should have seen that tax was paid before he took the money for representing her.  Then, the proceeds would have to be included in his tax return as income.  I believe Lyons contributed $25 K to the cause and maybe Lenamon, too.  That would have been taxable.  Casey is not a tax-exempt charity. You can't just blow off the IRS the way Baez did Strickland, IMO.
Ayup...this is one way the government, federal and state, could recover a very small % of what has been layed out (besides KC) for the prosecution, LE, FBI, KC's defense, investigative hours, etc...OMG, KC is still a thief, even from behind bars she is stealing from all of us

I could be wrong, but I don't think there is a State income tax in FL.

Listening to tru tv and boy are they defending George. They have all this sympathy for him. I sure don't!
I think he truly loved his grandaughter but he loves his daughter more. I watched the pre-trial hearings where he said he would do ANYTHING for for his daughter. He has also LIED several times since his original statements and up to today's testimony, He is an arrogant hot headed man who thinks he is above it all. I am beginning to think he is part of a plan to create reasonible doubt. He acts as if he had a normal beautiful family up until Caylee went missing. The whole family are a bunch of coniving and beyond dysfunctional people. Caylee's life might have been spared if they had sought help for themselves as well as Casey. They allowed Casey to continually lie and steal. Did not bring her up to be a responsible person. A dysfunctional family does not however create or excuse a murderer.
I agree with you. However, I think George is now depending upon the state to rehab him and have taken their advice. I too might have agreed to let Baez say those outrageous things about me to save my daughter from death. I do not know....nor do any of us. IMO

I agree.

Could there have been a defence strategy in the opening statement ... a defence strategy that implied that George was a willing participant in a desperate effort to save Casey.  Could the allegations of George's participation in a coverup in his granddaughter's death as well as the molestating of Casey be all about planting a seed of doubt/confusion in the minds of jury members?  It only takes one holdout in deliberations.

Think about it.  George is not on trial.  It was a given that he would deny the allegation when questioned as a witness in the trial.

IMO

Janet

I do know & I would never ever let anyone including my own child lodge that vile accusation knowing he/she murdered my grandchild.  Its beyond disgusting to even suggest that someone should endure that lifetime ridicule to save a life of a murderer on top of losing a loved one to murder, blood or not.

I would NEVER allow such a lie to be told about me or my loved ones to protect even my own daughter. If she were guilty of murdering her own child, I'd tell her I love her and to do the right thing and confess.

Me too.

However ... has George every done that.  He has professed Casey's innocence since the getgo and claimed his granddaughter is alive.

I'm still nervous about Lee and Cindy (George also).  I really can't see them go this far and then turn.  I kinda think George is mad but I won't trust Cindy until I see it myself.  She is way to whacked out.

Me, too. Especially Lee!

I've had an epiphany ...

I think Cindy is writing all this down to get a clearer picture/timeline of all the lies Casey told and how it all fits into their life at that time.  ie her calls to Casey - what Casey told her - where Casey really was and what she was really doing at those times.

I've decided she's finally come to the realization that her daughter is a murderer ... and she's trying to figure out exactly what happened and when it happened.

let's hope so

Does anyone remember when George stopped going to all the status hearings? Was it before or after the March letter? Im still nervous about Cindy also, she still went to every hearing and deposited money in Casey's account even after she knew the sexual abuse train was coming down the tracks...

Alleged Baby Killer Casey Anthony -- The $68,000 Bill

Accused child murderer Casey Anthony is in more hot water with the feds -- the I.R.S. believes she failed to pay $68k in taxes back in 2008 ... the same year she allegedly killed her 2-year-old daughter.

Just curious but if bozo had this money in his client's account could he be charged with something

I could be wrong, but I don't think there is a State income tax in FL.

You are correct
FLORIDA
Sales Taxes
State Sales Tax: 6% (food, prescription and non-prescription drugs exempt). There are additional county sales taxes which could make the combined rate as high as 9.5%.
Gasoline Tax: 34.4 cents/gallon
Diesel Fuel Tax: * 29.6 cents/gallon
(Local taxes for gasoline vary from 5.5 cents to 17 cents, plus there is a 2.07% gasoline pollution tax.)
Cigarette Tax: 33.9 cents/pack of 20 ($1.00 surcharge added on each pack in 2010)

Personal Income Taxes
No state income tax
Retirement Income: Not taxed.  Individuals, married couples, personal representatives of estates, and businesses are no longer required to file an annual intangible personal property tax return reporting their stocks, bonds, mutual funds, money market funds, shares of business trusts, and unsecured notes.

There isn't, but we pay federal taxes, some which come back to the state, and our sales anmd property taxes also support the state...

In my book KC will always be a lying, thieving, baby killer...MMO

I agree with that.  Not until she's on the stand and being questioned will we know who's side she's on.  I hope Caylee's side, but I just don't know what to expect.

The Internal Revenue Service has filed a Tax Lien against Casey Anthony for failing to pay $68,000 in taxes for the year 2008.

I have prayed for this but I cant help loathing this woman in general.  Although I gotta say last night watching her in a video shown on NG of Caylee's 2nd birthday was heartwrenching to see her grandma's joy in her face & tending to Caylee when her mother sat on her rear with a camcorder the entire time.   If any time you'd think Casey would want to be at the center of attention with her daughter it would have been on Caylee's birthday.   If any time for her to exhibit that she was overjoyed & blessed with a daughter, you'd think it would have been on Caylee's birthday.
Oh, it doesn't make me loathe her any less ... or any of them for that matter.  The whole Anthony clan will have a hard time on the witness stand overcoming all the tampering and lies they told LE to cover up for Casey.

Disagree...2008 taxes would be for money made in 2008 and forms filed by April 14th 2009.
