Missing autistic boy Zachary Bello in St. George UT(FOUND SAFE)

ST. GEORGE — A search is underway for a missing six-year-old autistic boy in St. George.

Zachary Bello was last seen at his house near 300 South and 1000 East at 7:30 p.m. Saturday by his mother, wearing a diaper, yellow shoes and possibly a yellow "SpongeBob" shirt.

He is 3 feet tall, 40 pounds and has very short buzz cut brown hair and blue eyes. Police say his autism makes him nonverbal.

Volunteers wanting to assist Washington County Search and Rescue can report to the Gardner Center at Dixie State College (225 S. 700 East). Picture ID and a background check are required.

The reverse 911 system is also being used to get information out. Anyone with information can call St. George police at 435-627-4300.

ST. GEORGE — An endangered person advisory has been issued for a 6-year-old autistic boy last seen at 7:30 p.m. Saturday by his mother.

A release issued by the police department said the boy, Zachary Bello, was last seen at his home wearing a diaper but may also be wearing yellow "SpongeBob" shoes.

The boy, who also goes by the nickname "Buddy Man," has very short brown hair in a buzz cut and blue eyes. He is 3 feet tall and weighs 40 pounds.

Police say he is nonverbal because of the autism.

Anyone with information should call St. George Police at 1-435-627-4300.

St. George, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A missing six-year-old boy has been found by searchers in St. George.

At approximately 1:44 p.m. Sunday police dispatch called a halt to the search, saying Zachary Bello had been located.

Officials say the boy was found in a vacant apartment in the Avalon Apartments where he lives.  An individual passing the apartment saw Zachary looking out of the window. 

Medical responders checked the boy and said he is fine and has been reunited with his father.   

Volunteers and law enforcement officials gathered at Dixie State College on Sunday morning to search for a missing 6-year-old boy.
 
Police say Zachary Bello was last seen on Saturday night around 7:30 p.m. Officers and Washington County Search and Rescue were called to assist in the search at 9:00 p.m.

Police say the 6-year-old was in extreme danger because he is diagnosed with Fragile X-Syndrom, a condition similar to autism, and has trouble using verbal communication.

ABC 4 has a crew on the way to St. George and will bring you the latest at 5:00.
