I'm not surprised.  I believe they know he is dead.  They just need to find his body.

In Post #454 she mentions linden trees. She has mentioned those before but later found they can be found throughout the Portland area. They are not native to Portland.

Yeah. Too many ground searches in too many areas. Sad but obvious.

Can any of the locals answer this?  Are there any areas of quicksand on Sauvie Island?

Agree.  Obvious, but really sad to see it stated in the news.  I'm sure Desiree is devastated.

I wonder what this means;

Investigators still have not named Terri Horman, Kyron's stepmother, a person of interest, but new evidence could tie her to Sauvie Island, where searchers were seen last weekend.

Investigators still have not named Terri Horman, Kyron Horman's stepmother, a person of interest, but new evidence could tie her to Sauvie Island, where searchers were seen last weekend.

Over 160 searchers combed parts of the island Oct. 2 and 3, and will be back on Oct. 9 and 10 to search for the missing boy.

One source told KOIN Local 6 that searchers were in the area following up on cell phone pings from the area.

That source said those pings were linked to Terri Horman's cell phone back on June 4th, the day Kyron was last seen.

Investigators said they may be able to find new evidence because weather has changed, making some sections of the island easier to get to.

Also Thursday divorce proceedings and an order to show cause will be heard in a Multnomah County courtroom.

At issue: whether the divorce will be held in abatement and where Terri got the alleged $350,000 in attorney fees to pay Stephen Houze.

Pure speculation on my part;  Maybe they have received video footage from that long list of streets/businesses they asked for awhile ago?   I'm wracking my brain as to what could have turned up that they didn't already have.  JMO.

Between the times of 7:58 AM (below) and 8:49 AM (above) ... the mention of a recovery effort was edited from the report.

Maybe the "source" was not reliable.

neighbor - hi - welcome and TY for answering our many questions.

Do you know if Skyline School has a basement?
If so, how is it accessed, please.

Don't know.  Puzzler, are you referring to the lower level?  In my limited recollection, from East going West there are two classrooms, the cafeteria, the stairs going up to the office, the library and three more classrooms.  Maybe there is a basement below it all, but that would be new to me.

neighbor - TY
I was referring to a basement.  In a discussion (before you joined SM I believe) about volunteers cleaning up and doing maintenance work at Skyline School in May, a basement was discussed and that lockers and the volunteer room was in the basement.  Tha's what I'm questioning.
For some reason the first floor has also been referred to as the basement floor. Perhaps part of it is under ground since the school is built on a hill. Neighbor, is part of the first floor under ground? Here is a link to ubrmel's map.

The lockers are in the lower level.  Most people would probably call that the basement.  Like many buildings in this area, the school is build on a slope.

TY - so when you go in the front doors of the school - aren't there stairs going up to a second floor?

If so, then the main area is the first floor - is that the area that you're saying  "most people would probably call that a basement"?

Post 640

If you go to post 640 there is a diagram of the school.  I see the "main entrance" area, which I assume are the double doors entering the school from the front.  Also in that area I see "basement floor plan". Then I see dotted red line section to the left of the library - do you know what that section is?  Could it be stairs down to the basement?  Or is the main entrance really called the basement?

Let's follow the names from the floor plan.

The school is on a hill.  The hill slopes down from East to West.
  • The East entrance is on the first level.
  • The main entrance brings you to a split level.  Up goes to 1st level; down goes to the basement.
  • The basement classrooms 106,109,110 are ground level.
  • The ball field is outside below that.

I do not remember details about the location of the locker room except that it is somewhere near the cafeteria.  I would guess it is the unnamed room west of 101B.  I will take a look when I am around there.

Judging from the basement floorplan, the boiler room has a door to the outside and one to the library.
