I don't get any pop ups at all.   Shocked  My kids configured my security but I notice that a part of it is this free program that is supposed to block things like that.  Maybe it actually does.

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/

SpywareBlaster is the name of the program on my computer from this site.  I have Popups OK on SM site but still don't get any.  But I also have about five other security programs on my computer having been hacked before.  This one says it prevents things from ever being downloaded, etc.

Anna - thanks!  Have to work on my father inlaws PC again today and this SpywareBlaster might be just the ticket for him  Laughing

Your FIL is a hoot.... (maybe not ot you... but to me that's a funny thing)

Mrs. Red - this last time his PC was so full of virus's that it wouldn't boot.  He was going to buy a new PC but I reinstalled XP instead.  I've never done that before and it took me a while to get the internet back up and running.  I still have some drivers to install before everything works right.  At least right now he has the internet and email.  Going over today to install the Display drivers and some security software.  Hopefully he'll be good for a few months anyway, lol  Laughing

I am thinking it's funny because of my mental image of a sweet-looking little old man that has his kakiki (sp) pants, button down beige shirt, black socks, and sandals, sweet little expression..... and going where he goes is incompatilbe!!!

Venezuela Seeks to Crack Down on Odd Baby Names
Saturday , September 01, 2007
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,295488,00.html

 CARACAS, Venezuela  —

Thinking of naming your baby Hersony, Nohemar — or even Superman?

Such odd names might be turned down by the civil registry if Venezuela approves a bill barring parents from giving their children "names that expose them to ridicule, are extravagant or difficult to pronounce," or that raise doubts about whether a child is a girl or a boy.

The National Electoral Council in the past week laid out that proposal in a draft bill circulated to city offices in Caracas.

If approved by the National Assembly, the bill could let authorities turn down names like some of the more unusual monikers currently on the voter rolls: Edigaith, Mileidy, Leomar and Superman.

When opponents of President Hugo Chavez last year sought to question the accuracy of the voter rolls, they noted that even "Superman" was listed. But electoral officials confirmed there are in fact two Venezuelans by that name registered to vote, and one of them was subsequently interviewed on state television.

While unusual names appear in many countries, Venezuelans seem to have a particular penchant for going creative, whether through unusual spellings of English names like Maikel or Jhonny, or names of uncertain origin like Orlayny or Jesshy.

Current Venezuelan law already has a similar measure saying registry authorities should not accept names that would expose children to ridicule. But the issue has until now been left up to the discretion of individual bureaucrats.

The new bill proposes to create a list of traditional names that could be offered to parents "as a reference" to provide options when they are registering their child's birth. It says the list would have "no fewer than 100 names" and would grow over time.

Some Venezuelans think it makes sense to crack down a bit.

"I agree with putting limits on people who don't have a sense of the ridiculousness," said 58-year-old office worker Alfredo Blanco.

But 27-year-old housewife Mariana Gonzalez said she thinks it is no one's business except the parents how they choose to name a child. "Before all else should come common sense."

i am not a big fan of gov't intervention into too many things... but I have noticed a certain prejudice among some of the more "creative" names....

CBB - this last time his computer was so bad you couldn't even get to the internet.  He asked me to take a look at it but I didn't have the time to spend hours trying to clear everything out.  I was really busy on a project at the time.  Anyway, he called out a company that charges $125 per hour  Shocked!  This gal worked on it for 1 1/2 hours then told him he needed at new PC which SHE could order for him. (yeah right)

Anyway, when I found out I told him to cancel the new PC.  I was finally able to spend some time and cleared out 753 virus's 600+ were trojans.  His PC worked fine then overnight it crashed.  As my son explained, when I cleared out all those files it left the HD and Registry like "swiss cheese".  The computer didn't know what to do so it crashed.

His computer is newer than mine, no way did he need a new computer.  So I started the process of reinstalling XP.  See, I didn't want him to go get a new computer because it would have Vista on it and I doubt he'd be able to navigate the new look.

So when I left the other day, the computer was working, he had internet and was able to read his emails.  There is a Display driver missing thats stopping me from loading his printer software and adjusting the monitor.  I need to do that today then get his security set back up.  FUN STUFF, LOL  Laughing

Has anyone been watching the pre-game ceremonies on ESPN at VA Tech?

Tribute to all those who died in that sensless killing earlier this year. They really did it right in only the way a college community can that depends on so much from VA Tech.

Nice job Hokies.

I hope our monkey friend Metro is also on the mend and following orders to restore his health, and that we hear from him soon.  Other news:  Jerry said he might have some news about his farm, possibly first week of October, but didn't want to say much so he didn't jinx things.  His post was from earlier in the week.  Keeping fingers crossed and hope there will be some relief for Jerry.
