The first part of the storm would have blown in toward the north coast of the island. As it passed, the winds would shift quickly to a west-to-east direction, then around to a weaker northerly wind (into the S coast). If there were anything of interest on the ocean floor off the northern coast, the wave action in the 1st part of the storm had potential to bring it to the beach. The lighthouse end bore the wind for a while, then finally the south (VZ-facing) coast (hotels, FH, etc.) with a weaker component of the storm.

Hurricanes are good at dredging items off the ocean floor. After hurricanes on the Atlantic coast of Florida, there were reports in the past of Spanish gold and silver coins being deposited on the beach from the various offshore shipwrecks from the 1600's.

The next few days might be a good time for someone to check out the beaches down there. Better get there before the ALE does, though.

SB - According to some Aruban's it's common for bones to wash up on the shore, especially after a hurricane.  Can you imagine being on vacation and finding bones along the shore?

That is Carpes screen captures of the bag in the basin near the Marriott Hotel.  Those are from the aru-bay videos.  Sure looks like Natalee's eyes looking back at you doesn't it?  I've never been 100% sure how I feel about it.

I watched it again, Klaas. Yes, it sure does look like Natalee's eyes. I have a hard time figuring out the perspectives. I don't know how large the bag is, etc. and the eyes really match when cropped, but I just can't tell from the whole image how realistic it is.

Also..........I hate to be too graphic, and I'm NO expert, but I was with my Dad and Grandmother when they died. Their eyes did remain open, but, their eyes "fell" with gravity. What I mean is that Dad was on his side, and his eyelids remained open, but his eyes "fell" to the corner of the side he was laying on: had he been alive, he would have been looking at the mattress. Same with Granny.

I don't know, it's just something I always think about when I see those pictures.
