terry-

It simply means he wants to know if you plan to negotiate hard and play one competitor against the other. using their offer in hand? Some good ole boys call it a p-ssing match  Wink Sometimes that can backfire on you, IMO

O/T

Terry,
I have been asked that a few times in my life as well.   Very Happy

Can't imagine why.   Cool  Cool  Cool   But I do make it a point to always reply in the affirmative as I fully intend to do so as often as the opportunity presents itself.  LOL.

Just kidding but I guess they mean are you wanting to negotiate terms or are wyou willing to just take their offer with no changes or conditions.

Anna-

I discovered something via googling last night, disconcerting too, to see son's name included in a football gambling game on one of the online gaming sites now? Amazing, kid has no stats to speak of, yet they must just use all the NCAA players now for their nasty business?

I'm inclined to send them an email stating momma ain't happy about dis !

Leslie, I appreciate your research into Poe, etc.  Another train of thought.  I found a Shango Rum site this AM, and wondered how long it's been in existence....was it around for a while, or did someone decide in the past year or so to market?

The discussions on 'roll' 'toll' have been hashed out here...just interesting to read another approach.

Hello everyone...

NONE,

That doesn't really surprise me as I guess they want the starting lineup and such before betting but I can understand how it makes you feel.  Like you are some how a part of sports betting.   Sad Or worse yet, that your baby is!

If we ever get the archives back Lala's is going to go bonkers when she sees all the Codetalkers notes and stuff on the Gamers or Shango types.

SUNFREAK

I am just sort of making the point that there is a connection to the casinos and the MARVEL COMIC characters since that is where the names of several of those posters originates.  Shango, Simian, etc.  It would just about have to be Marvel because of the collection of them.  Would not just happen that they chose those names.

Charles Croes was my first guess for Shango but was told he did not leave the island but also know poster scubajap from there claimed she had an anonymizer that made it appear she was posting from Florida.  If she could do it, surely CCroes could with his phone business and knowledge.

He "seemed" supportive of the family in the beginning and Natalee was "this lovely child" but after his stay in jail and later on in the VF article and elsewhere she some how changed into a "slut" and one just has to wonder how that could have happened.  Maybe the change happened with the boycott as it did for many in Aruba who said they were supportive but when push came to shove, we found they truly were not.

Thought he MIGHT be Shango because of his love for writing and being cryptic.  No special knowledge, just seemed a natural match.

New Front Page Post

Arubans Brace Yourself … New Shopping Mall Near Hotel Resorts … Could this be the Beginning of All-Inclusives?

http://www.scaredmonkeys.com/2006/10/05/arubans-brace-yourself-new-shopping-mall-near-hotel-resorts-could-this-be-the-beginning-of-all-inclusives/

The local shop owners in Aruba are not happy. Why would they be? Tourists will be funneled away from locally owned shops to the high end ones near their hotels rather than downtown. What does one think will happen to the downtown area? It will turn into a ghost town.

I'm a contractor and I decided to see what positions there are out of state and I have a lot of responses and one of those responses wants to meet today because they flew into town and wanted to meet near the airport, well I just wanted them to know that I would be there for the meeting but I sent it to one of their Competitors and its kinda like thinking your talking to your girlfriend and your talking to someone else..  Well hopefully they all have a sense of humor but actually I don't think they do..  Example: the guy that I accidentally called asked me if I was going to be difficult if they made an offer, what does that mean????

I NEVER accept the 1st offer.

That's it, Sunfreak.  Now I am just making a possible interest in casinos or gambling to the mix.  No reason other than those slot machines, etc.

Interesting definition of Dicemen.

I know the term "rolled" is urban slang for being on XTC, but what did Poe mean by "the King...rolls, rolls, rolls, rolls,"  when he wrote his poem "The Bells" in 1849?

I don't know but bet there is a Poe website devoted to just such where it has been analyzed in great detail.

Runic stones or tiles?  Could it refer to the king rolling those?  I have seen them as little squares and also as sort of stone shaped, kind of irregular with a symbol on each one.  I suppose there is some sort of roll involved in using those?

I can add a small bit to the discussion about "The Bells" and EA Poe ...

He was living in NYC when he wrote this, and a church was built nearby. NYC was much quiter then than it is now. The addition of a church and its bells probably was a dramatic change for the neighborhood.

The poem discusses different kinds of bell tolling - weddings, alarms, forget what else, but Part 4 (quoted on previous page) sounds like funeral bells to me. The "King" referred to I guess would be the Grim Reaper.

And as for C Croes - I guess if you live near the ocean, you are sensitive to what different kinds of wind sound like and what they each portend.

For the youngsters out there - before media, before everybody wore a watch or had a clock - church bells signaled the hour and assorted occasions. As a tradition, this extended well into this century and indeed still occurs in many areas or at individual churches. (Of course now much of the timing and tolling is machine-controlled.)

The lack of timepieces among the hoi poloi also was a major reason so many buildings had clocks, and of course sundials were popular. Old courthouses all over the country are examples of this - nearly all important official buildings had exterior clocks.

So, what was the date when they announced the Dutch would take over the Natalee investigation?  Oh wait, about 4-6 weeks later they said they will send someone to look into possibly maybe taking over the case.  That was what, 3 weeks ago?

So what are we, about 3 or 4 months past the date they originally said this was going to happen and still - nothing.

what a crock.  Its time to file civil suits against all involved in this case.
