I also LOL at those who have said that Joran was not old enough to drive,I think Joran said this himself.I found it funny to think welllll Joran, you broke just about every other law on the corrupt little island,we are now supposed to believe you would follow the laws on driving?LOL

YES - but if, as I have suspected from right about the start, JVDS had had some tickets or too many "friendly warnings" - DUI, compounded by underage - possibly embarrassing "the judge" etc. - maybe damaged one of the family cars ...

I am certain that he started driving ASAP (like every teen, although ASAP for J could have been VERY early, possibly even before his talent for drinking copiously ...

Bottom line is, I think "RIDE" was a big, irritating deal for Joran - one thing even his parents wouldn't "give" on.

Honestly, it really depends on the phone and how much memory in the phone is allocated to saving pics/video/music etc. Typically I'd say anywhere from one to two minutes...some longer and some shorter.

Afternoon monkeys! Lurking and working and stunned to see excerpts from the suspects statements. Have they been posted somewhere I can read them??

Yes shadow - they are on a sticky in the Natalee index.  I haven't learned to post links yet.... They are the statements from June 9th & 10th.  Very interesting...check them out!

Thank you Kimmy53 and mrs red . . . I will check them out now!

you know, whoever posed the question "why did CC ask locals who Joran was" is a really good question

can someone explain that?

had Beth already been to the HI to see the tapes?  at that point, they were looking for Nat on the tape, right? and probably saw Joran on tape; but how did they figure out Joran wasn't a Dutch tourist?

From my understanding,Charles Croes went to the beach and asked a few kids there about a car,Deepaks car.He described the car and the kids replied"Oh,That's Joran",then the kid(s)lead them to where Joran lives.I always found that odd because everyone claimed Joran didn't drive so why would Joran be associated with Deepak's car?Why didn't the kids say"oh,that's Deepak's car"?

Yes, Smish, that was always odd from the beginning, prompting somebody here to proclaim that DK was J's "ride bitch." (I don't think DK would have willingly let J drive his car.)

But it may be that something was edited within that dialog on the interview tape. It was OBVIOUS that much had been snipped. You can't really pick up on that from reading a transcript, but if you watch, it's very apparent.

Bear with me please,I'm trying to get used to the format and don't know how long to make these stacks.

i laughed for 10 minutes when i read that  Laughing

LOL....true,Joran must think we are as stupid as some of the people he knows and lives with. Laughing

Hi Mrs. Red!

msmarple - you make a very good point - Joran's parents do allow him alot of priviledges - but driving is not one - curious to say the least!

True,is possible but somehow I don't think the van der Sloot's know a bit about good parenting. Also,I wonder IF Joran was indeed driving Deepak's car that night the gardener witness saw them?Joran in the drivers seat,Deepak next to him with someone trying to hide in the back seat. Why was Joran sitting in the drivers seat?

Easy, sounds like you are ready to party.  I don't think I would want to smell the sights and sounds.  I would probaby want to pull out a machine gun and go after them.  LOLOLOL.  Well not really but I think you know my idea would not be of saturating the sights and sounds of this criminal island. If I wanted to savor the sights and sounds, I would go near where you live or Seaside, Destin, etc.

BHT looked at casino tapes; had a description from the MB kids. Beth didn't know he was a local -- only that he was from Holland and was staying at the HI. It just doesn't fit that C. Croes left the hotel to get a description from kids at the beach if MB kids thought he was a guest at the HI.

He maybe went off to call & warn Paulus?  I really think he knew the Sloots.

Ono, I have come to believe he might be one of the "elders" which Shango speaks of.  His poetry does have the tone of a "gentle rapist."

Can anyone guess at which day Deepak says he vacuumed his car because of the sand Joran got in it? Does it seem to anyone else that this statement about Joran w/ sand on his shorts & legs is strange?  Could they have possibly been in a hurry doing something on the beach or beachy area and didn't take the time to wipe off the sand?  perhaps getting out of somewhere fast as to not be seen?  I cannot decipher "which" day Deepak is talking about....

Hi Kimmy:

I mentioned the sand the other night.  In an interview, Joran talked about the sand and how he got it over Deepak's car.  It was one of those "too much information" times and it stuck out in my head.  Now I see it mentioned in Deepak's statement.  This is significant, but I don't know why.

Is it because there was really no sand and it was to throw everyone off about where they actually were?

Is it because it would explain why someone would find it necessary to vacuum in the middle of the night?

Is it because Natalee was hurt/unconscious on the beach and they got a lot of sand in the car dragging her bacj in the car because they didn't know what to do with her?  Is this why they started speeding?  Were they originally going to try to get her help and then she stopped breathing?

I haven't quite grasped the significance of that planted information yet, but I have some ideas.

I asked about it the other night but there were no replies.  I think at the time, the monkeys were hot on the trail of another scoop, so I dropped it and thought I would bring it up again another time.
