Thanks, NJ. I couldn't remember his name for the life of me. I think we have to thank OJ for the emergence of Goria Allred too. Didn't she represent the Brown family? I don't recall seeing her before then, and I haven't stopped seeing her pop up everywhere ever since.

I believe you are correct about Gloria Allred.  I posted remembering Greta for the OJ trial on the last thread, but without the details.  It's good to refresh the memory once in a while.  The details from Natalee's case have been hashed here so often that most of us have retained them with no problem.

I can remember Greta during the OJ trial, but I don't know what channel she was on.
She would come on several time a day with a 3 person panel, another of which was
Roy Black.  Greta always maintained that OJ was innocent.
Greta was ugly as a stump back then.  She has had facial surgery since then.

Nancy Grace would report on the OJ trial every morning on the Today show.
Nancy was cute back in the day.

She was on CNN...I loved her back then and still sort of do. She made me want to be a lawyer...which I never did. (I just married one).

there was a special in the netherlands on sbs 6 about JVDS in peru mostly stuff that is already known.
One thing that came up was that the inmates of castro castro were probably already preparing a welcome commitee for the Gringo Assasino.

Not Castro Castro yet, the formal charges still need to be made.  I think we are expecting that very soon, then he will be transferred.

I've been reading the Peruvian newspaper "comments" sections since he was announced as a suspect.  If they are any indication of the feelings down there ... from non-imprisoned citizens ... he's in big big trouble!

I think Peruvian LE should offer a deal ... give up Natalee's body ... and we won't keep you in with the regular population.  Peru stilll gets the years in prison ... and the Holloway/Twitty families get to bury their daughter.  After serving his sentence in Peru ... he gets passed on to the US ... Perfect ending in my book.

At 16, Joran van der Sloot was a star athlete. He had a girlfriend to whom he wrote love notes, and with whom he danced in the rain. Now, he has reportedly confessed to killing a young woman in a hotel room in Peru. Had there been any early signs in the Dutchman of violent behavior?

Back when he was a teen in love, van der Sloot and his girlfriend kept a diary together, which they filled with his poems about love and sexual desire. But their breakup, she says, was hurried along by his "problem with lying" – a trait he displayed to the world with ever-changing accounts of his role, at age 17, in the disappearance of American teen Natalee Holloway, PEOPLE reports in its new issue, on newsstands Friday.

Exactly five years after Natalee vanished in May 2005 on a high-school graduation trip to Aruba, the main suspect in that still-unsolved case stands accused again. But this time, authorities in Peru have a body and a confession linking van der Sloot, now 23, to the murder of Stephany Flores Ramirez, in a case with striking parallels.

In exclusive interviews in PEOPLE, former intimates track the path of the charming young Dutchman who bore his stigma of a possible killer across four continents – from Aruba, to the Netherlands, to Thailand, to Peru – preceding his fateful meeting May 30 in another casino with another young woman.



Shunned by Pals
"All his friends turned their backs on him," says Aline Hibbert, 22, another former girlfriend. An increasingly desperate life accompanied by drinking, drug use and gambling led even his parents to stop supporting him, and as money ran out, he tried to extort Natalee's mom, Beth, by offering details on her daughter's death and the body's whereabouts.

The arrogance, temper and short fuse long witnessed by those around him flared again when – according to his confession – van der Sloot caught Flores reading about his ties to Natalee on his laptop computer. He lashed out, breaking her neck and fleeing to Chile, according to police. "I didn't want to do it," he said to authorities. "The girl intruded in my life."


With the impact of that confession still uncertain on Natalee's case, her family and friends hold out hope that van der Sloot, now behind bars, might provide them with answers.

Yes it just aired.
JE wrote something about it a couple of posts up.
I just got home to catch the final few minutes.
So unfortunately I haven't been able to see all of it.
But yeah, like JE wrote - most prisoners will know Joran from tv and a "welcome committee" awaits him.
The prison only has guards on the outside but on the inside you're left to your own devices.
Peter de Vries was on as well and he said that in order to protect Joran, they will probably put him in a cell of his own.
Mainly to safe his life at least until the trial, I suppose.

I'm curious.......... is everybody sure Joran even knows where Natalee is? I feel sure that Van der Stratten knows, and certainly Paulus did. Probably others as well, because I can't see just the two of them doing the grunt work but I'm not 100% sure Joran does.

I'm like 80% sure he knows. I do think she was moved at least once.
