Tori Stafford's parents show solidarity with slain girl

Tori Stafford’s mother and father, like the parents of other slain children, sit through all the criminal proceedings, willing themselves to hear the details of their daughter’s last hours, no matter how horrific or painful the evidence.

I cannot begin to fathom the depths of pain Tori's parents endure on her behalf.  It has to be bad enough to not only bury your child someone has murdered, but to sit through all the details is heartbreaking.
Their fortitude comes from a place that only those who have experienced what they are going through could ever comprehend.  My prayers for their breaking hearts remain with them.  I don't know if I could endure what they are hearing and feeling.  I can bearly stand to read it, let alone hear it.

McClintic to talk more about Tori's murder on Thursday‎

Terri-Lynne McClintic’s testimony is to be continued on Thursday. She is charged with murdering an eight year old Ontario girl Victoria (Tori) Stafford.

The court asked her to elaborate a number of graphic letters she had written, revealing her desire of torturing people. McClintic wrote the letters in 2008 and was later ordered to seek medical help.

“I am fed up with this place. I want to scrap,” McClintic wrote in a letter. “I just want to bounce and go on a killing spree.”

WARNING: This story contains disturbing details

A defence lawyer showed jurors pages from a journal today that Terri-Lynne McClintic kept as a teenager, including an entry about the time she stabbed a person during a robbery and punched a police officer during her subsequent arrest.

Tori Stafford trial: officer breaks down during testimony

LONDON, Ont. — A police detective who arrested the woman who later confessed to killing eight-year-old Victoria (Tori) Stafford broke down in an Ontario court Thursday as he recounted the moment he learned she was dead.

"The investigation went from an abduction investigation to a homicide investigation. It was quite significant," said Woodstock police Det.-Const. Sean Kelly at the trial of Michael Rafferty.

"Even to this day, it had a pretty big impact."

McClintic twice charged with assaulting her mother

 ::snipping2::

During cross-examination Thursday, defence lawyer Dirk Derstine went over McClintic's criminal record, which was entered into evidence last week. The first entry included two charges of assault, which Derstine said were a result of altercations with her mother. The jury was shown a picture of McClintic's mother with a black eye.

McClintic choked her mother with her left hand as she punched with her right after the two got into a fight over McClintic's dismissal from work, Derstine said, adding McClintic's mother lost partial vision in her eye as a result.

McClintic said her mom poked her so she hit her back.

The other charge involved McClintic punching her mother in the back of the head. According to McClintic, the two got into a mutual confrontation and her mother burned her with a cigarette

‘I never had murder on my mind,’ McClintic says at Stafford trial

LONDON, ONT. A woman convicted of killing Victoria Stafford flatly denied a suggestion Thursday that she was the “engine” behind a plot that went deeper than she has let on, saying she didn’t think she was walking the eight-year-old girl to her death.

“I take full responsibility for my actions,” Terri-Lynne McClintic told court. “I did what I did. But I’m not the only guilty party here, and that’s why I’m sitting here today.”

McClintic 'drove events,' court hears

LONDON, Ont. -- Michael Rafferty's lawyer went on the offensive Thursday with questioning that pointed to Terri- Lynne McClintic as "the engine that drove the events" leading to the murder of Victoria (Tori) Stafford.

In his cross-examination of McClintic, Dirk Derstine questioned how she had picked eight-year- old Tori out of more than 300 pupils at Oliver Stephens public school in Woodstock, Ont.

He asked McClintic if it was a "crazy coincidence" that she had met Tori's mother, Tara McDonald, and both families owned Shih-Tzu dogs.

He noted that McClintic's aunt lived near the school and McClintic would have walked by Tori's house to visit her house.

Christie Blatchford: McClintic pointed police to Tori's mother, partner

In the sewer of evidence emerging at the Michael Rafferty murder trial here, the revulsion bar, never high, grows ever lower.

On Thursday, Ontario Superior Court Judge Thomas Heeney and the jurors learned that the young woman who only very recently has confessed to killing Victoria (Tori) Stafford herself once attempted to point the finger of suspicion at the little girl's mother and stepfather.

McClintic was puppetmaster: defence

LONDON, Ont. -- The graphic lyrics of a death rap song filled the staid courtroom.
"Stabbing and stabbing and stabbing and stabbing and stabbing and stabbing and stabbing and stabbing and stabbing and stabbing and stabbing and stabbing and stab you to death," sang Necro in Creepy Crawl, one of Terri-Lynn McClintic's favourite songs. "Face down on the bed, pillow case over ya head. Lamp chord choked, leave everyone in the place dead..."

With dramatic flourish, defence lawyer Dirk Derstine then paused the shocking music.

"Is that the song that was playing on your iPod when you walked up to Oliver Stephens Public School that day?" he asked the young woman who lured little Tori Stafford to her death.

A woman convicted of killing eight-year-old Victoria (Tori) Stafford is again under cross-examination today at the trial of her ex-boyfriend, Michael Rafferty, in London, Ont.

Blatchford: McClintic had no reason to lie about Tori's slaughter

LONDON, Ont. — As Winston Churchill once said about Russia, the convicted killer Terri-Lynne McClintic may also be a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.

In the witness stand now at her ex-boyfriend Michael Rafferty's trial, McClintic is a solemn, polite and well-spoken young woman with a shiny dark bob.

Defence says McClintic abducted Tori to settle drug debt

The lawyer for Michael Rafferty laid out an alternative scenario for the death of eight-year-old Victoria (Tori) Stafford on Friday, in which Terri-Lynne McClintic, not Mr. Rafferty, orchestrated the entire crime.

 ::snipping2::

Ms. McClintic has maintained Mr. Rafferty wanted to abduct a child and that he directed her to help him.

But in a dramatic cross-examination, defence lawyer Dirk Derstine said Ms. McClintic actually chose to abduct the child and bring her to Mr. Rafferty’s car, telling her boyfriend that the girl had been taken to settle a drug debt. The couple then drove to Guelph, where Ms. McClintic bought a hammer and garbage bags at Home Depot and stopped at a Tim Hortons where Mr. Rafferty went inside.

Mr. Derstine suggested Ms. McClintic then “offered” Tori to Mr. Rafferty, which he rejected. So, Ms. McClintic told Mr. Rafferty to drive north, purportedly to reach a safe house.
