Justice for Tori

Michael Rafferty has been found guilty of first-degree murder, sexual assault causing bodily harm and kidnapping in the death of eight-year-old Woodstock schoolgirl Victoria 'Tori' Stafford.

The nine-woman, three-man jury delivered its verdict at 9:30 p.m.

The verdict means an automatic life sentence for Rafferty, 31.

They are waiting for Tori's family to come out of court live right now on CP 24.  I am so happy I have satellite to be able to see this after 3 years of waiting for this day!

Sentencing will be Tuesday.  Victim impact statements will be read at that time

murder charge is automatically life with possibility of parole after 25 years.  Other sentences will run concurrently

After sentencing was read Tara hugged Darryn and asked if he was happy and he said Yes. Tara is Tori's mom and Darryn is Tori's brother.

Tara now leaving the courthouse.  They have a podium set up outside of the courtroom.  She is not going there to speak, she is leaving.

Rodney , Tori's dad has not come out yet.  He left the courtroom twice during trial as it was getting to be too much for him and he said if he stayed he would be having an outburst which would not have helped the trial

Rodney's brother Mark now speak.  They are relieved with the verdict.  Glad the trial is over but they still have a lot of healing to do.

Jurys are protected by law in Canada.  Media is not allowed to approach them after trial as it is against the law.  So we will not hear from anyone on this jury.

Speaking head on CP24 says he is almost certain there will be an appeal.  Appeal in Canada is funded by legal aid so there is no downside in filing an appeal.
