Mouth Watering Meat Loaf

2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
2/3 cup seasoned bread crumbs (if you do not have seasoned breadcrumbs use regular breadcrumbs and add 2 tsp Lawry's seasonimg salt, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, 2 tsp garlic powder and a dash of thyme.)
2 teaspoons  minced onion
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground  sage
1 1/2 pounds ground beef

1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Combine the first six ingredients in a large bowl.  Crumble beef over mixture and mix well (mixture will be moist.) Shape into a round loaf; place in a 5-qt. slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or until a meat thermometer reads 160 degrees F.

Sweet topping:
In a small bowl, whisk the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Spoon over the meat loaf. Cook 15 minutes longer or until heated through. Let stand for 10-15 minutes before cutting.

If you do not wish a sweet topping then spoon ketchup over meatloaf and cook for the additional 15 minutes.  Let rest for 10-15 mins before cutting.

NR thanks for all the recipes...especially this meatloaf....I have never been able to make GOOD meatloaf!!!  This sounds delicious!!

YW.  Do not use extra lean ground beef or it will come out dry even with the eggs and milk in it.

I wanted to come here and say for "anyone" that feels that it was wrong for me to post the picture over in JSM.s thread of my son, well I dont see a problem with it, he is a 25 year old Correctional officer and Auxillary police volunteer and he also is a proffessional photographer, his picture is posted in a lot of places because he has a Photography page that he does his business out of and I dont think he is in danger of being kidnapped or anything else.  His my space page is not private and so I dont see a problem and I can assure you that he is indeed MY SON...I posted his picture because others were showing there sons picture and it was kinda a joke because I said do you want to see a picture of my baby boy and thats why I posted it, just a joke and having a conversation with a fellow poster. no big deal.....

HH, I personally don't see that you did anything wrong or anything to put anyone in danger.  Sorry I missed seeing the picture. I am sure you are, rightfully so very proud of him!  He has accomplished a lot for his 25 years.
Thank You Sunny abd Klaas, I didnt think anything of it either, but someone did, anyway, I just wanted to clear it up and let people know that he is 25 not 5 and he said I could do it and so did his girlfriend that was with him in the picture,,,,

HH - you do not owe anyone an explanation. You did nothing wrong...

Thanks for telling me that...I use extra lean as much as possible......so perhaps I should  splurge and go for 15/85?

I don't wear a two piece suit anymore.

Nether should Mallory or Cindy. Just sayin'......................

Cindy's not overweight, but her tummy is just too squishy, and Mallory, well, Mallory just shouldn't.

I'm sure they make suits with support and uplift, and Cindy should check it out.

CBB~ you are so nice and diplomatic.  I'm going to try and be nicer about them,  I'm writing it on my hand right now!!!!

Making a cheat sheet are you MizJay?

I don't know how nice I am, but I do have empathy for those with less than perfect figures. I have weight to loose right now and it's always been hard to keep it off, for me. I try hard not to display the problem areas though!

I'm glad she said that as well. I make terrible meatloaf. If I even mention it in my house, I get nasty looks.

I've copied every recipe Northern has posted, and even made a few so far, and they're all great! So this one's gotta be good!

Lean works great Sunny.  TY Gizzie.  Glad my recipes have worked for you.  I usually make this with straight ketchup as the topping but if you like a sweeter topping then do make the other one.

I'm reading this and thinking about the meatloaf I made Monday.  I had a small pkg of ground beef and one of ground turkey and decided to combine them.  It appeared to be DRY when I tasted it, so I was thankful I had some beef gravy handy...it needed it!!  I mentioned to my husband that the turkey was lean and guessed that was the reason.  He & sons loved it, anyway.

My mom sometimes used to top the meatloaf with ketchup and I've done it a few times.  I also add a little Quaker Oats to mine with the bread crumbs.

You are welcome GE.  My slow cooker gets a work out especially during the winter.

NR - thanks for the two recipes.    I'm going to make the BBQ Pork tomorrow.   I'm going to use my Splenda Brown Sugar instead of regular brown sugar, though.     I know it will taste fantastic!

It will work just fine and taste great!

Just wanted to let you know that my family loved your pork bbq recipe.   Very yummy!   Thanks again for sharing.

Evening Monkeys- just thought I'd pop in for a bit to post this. My friend's daughter has been nominated by CMT to to compete in the CMT Music City Madness contest and I thought I'd post it here for anyone who is interested. It was all filmed here while we watched and the little boy is my son's classmate. So, if you like it and want to vote for her, all you have to do is submit the vote. Fanny, if you're here you might appreciate the scenery in this video and it will give you a taste of home I think

Thanks!!!!!!!!
