To No X It: I can understand that strategy. I think it was tragically wrong, but I can understand why the Arubian police would have followed it.

The group here this morning seems to understand, or at least give some credit for, forethough, but ohters judge the Aruban LE beyond incompetent.  As this winds on, I think we're gonna be surprised at how well they've pulled this together.  It anin't CSI, but its getting somewhere (positive spin)

>>Is there any "official evidence" that they've changed their stories

I only said there is evidence. Attorneys' statements to the press is about as official as we have I guess. I'll retract my "proven liars" statement. Smile

I'm with you though; as soon as they "reportedly" Wink changed their stories I thought the brothers were most responsible.

"There were varying descriptions of Joran, ranging from model student athlete to casino playboy (he met Natalee in a casino). He is tall, handsome, and looks older than his age. His friends, Satish and Deepak, also sons of wealth and privilege, were described to me by a local islander "as bad men who mistreat women." One scenario has the trio involved in a seedy scam that involves meeting attractive female tourists, learning the date of their departure, and taking advantage of them on their final night in town."

I would guess that this is the only evidence that they are holding them on.

Good morning. I'm not a newbie. I just don't post that often anymore.

I still think it`s very strange that there`s nothing about the Kalpoe brothers, no family, no friends or neighbours that are talking about them.

At least there has to be some people that know them especially they also live on Aruba.

Deepak's boss/friend was interviewed but stopped short of saying he was innocent.  When questioned about that her answer was something to the effect of serial killers always seem like normal people or people that would never do such things.  English is not her first language, but I found her reference to serial killers interesting.  Her and the guy interviewed by Greta are the only people that have been mentioned in connection with the brothers.

... Remember, there were 3 jails for the 3 suspects and only 2 security guards. We haven't "heard" anything from Satish have we?

CM:  I'm trying tofollow your thoughts here - ...3 jails for the 3 ... ??

(Hi all, sneaking in again.)

The 3, J, D & S were placed in 3 separate jails. There were only 2 security guards so only 2 of the suspects could be colocated with the guards. Why D & J and not Satish?

Breaking News by Dan Riehl
Quote
“According to the attorney ,Jones declared that Joran is convinced that he is being framed. Joran is saying that he did not go to the lighthouse with the group at all. He testified that after he left the club, he caught a ride home with his Surinamese friends, the brothers Kalpoe. At that time Natalee Holloway was in the car. Joran allegedly testified that the Kalpoes dropped him off at his home and drove off with Natalee in car. It was only afterwards (a few days later), around the swimming pool at his house, that the Kalpoes made plans to come out with one version of the events. But now it seems that they are trying to frame Joran.”

I think J was over his head with these guys, maybe they havee "something" else over him. Remembber although he his tall, he's still only 17. No offense to you guys, but the maturity thing and all..........

chloe, I think especially after reading some of the webpages, that may be what their game plan was but that this one had a sinister twist of some sort.

I haven't seen confirmation that the "electronic monitoring" began immediately after the three were let go.  I have my doubts that it did, or that it was diligiently followed, especially since the police commissioner was apparently going with the "Ladies' Night after monster hangover" theory on the third day.

As for this supposed "lead us to Natalee" gambit... there's nothing within it that precludes the collection of evidence.  Furthermore, you could have detained Joran, let the brothers go, and still could have pursued the same strategy, while, at the same time, interrogate a lead suspect at the most critical time.   That's why I think it's hogwash.

I too believe that the "monitoring" that went on after they released these guys was beneficial in some way.

After reading the article in Black & White I am, frankly, skeptical any 'monitoring' actually went on.

I actually slept some last night and may have missed the link to Black and White article. Would you be so gracious as to gimme the link??

Unfortunately we do not know whether they changed their stories once arrested or not.  We only know what the security guards said but don't know what the suspects actually told the cops.  What did they say before they were arrested?  Is that the lighthouse story origin?

Quote from: "Professor"
Under my Most Believable Scenario (MBS) there would be no reason to change stories, except when a previous story is shown to be absurd, and where the individuals are caught in a "Prisoner's Dilemma" situation and each one tries to save his own ass.

Yes it does, DF! The frustration level has hit all time highs in here lately but then again I have to remind myself that it is nothing compared to Natalee's family who are actually looking out their windows IN Aruba and thinking "where is our baby"?
