Nana I see you up in the rafters. How is hubby doing? We have missed you.

I have been working on catching up...wow! Hubby is soooo much better!       When his doc started acting so gleeful, I had to ask,"So, if random is not a diagnosis, this is a God thing?"  He said, "Yup!"  lol  When they life flighted him, they said it was the necrotizing
fasciitis (sp? my puter won't spell it either). In less than 12 hours it was, "Wow, you dodged a bullet!" I am still in awe! The power of prayer!
He is still working on strength, but now it is more of tiring easily instead of getting exhausted walking across a room. 

4Donks, you know I am keeping your sister and you and your other sister lifted in prayer.

I know from reading the oodles of pages before there are other Monkeys in need...I am praying for you all. I brag on my monkey friends every chance I get.

Heading to bed soon, watching a person who is not used to being a "baby" is tiring and tough!(but worth every moment)  I think I am close to being able to put away the nagging biatch for awhile...       Looks like after 3 plus years we are settling the claim on my back so I can go in for the decompression therapy. Made it rough climbing in and out of the truck on our trip, but so worth it to meet the newest grandson. He is one happy little chunk!  Gonna try to post a pic tomorrow. Nite, and glad I am hom!

Nana that is wonderful news. Pray is a wonderful thing. Glad you got to see your newset grandson. I am headed for the monkey bunky my self. So happy to hear your hubs is on the mend.

Yes, this whole job thing is really screwing with my social life...in bed by 9, up at 6...sometimes being a .gov ho is hard, but the paycheck and the insurance make it mostly worth it. It does help keep me outta trouble, tho!

  Hi Brandi, Josef is fine, having tummy problems  I am home now, get to see CC in February I missed you all too. I have such a hard time posting on my phone, but at least I can do it a bit. Hope you are staying warm and the weather is better for you. 

JSM..I feel so badly for you and CC.  Is their a way that you could sublet your apt and move to Chi town now?  I am sure with your skills in your feed, not to mention your experience , you would be able to land a job.   Something must be feasible to bring you two togehter in the same home.  Or is it that your lease will run out in a few months and that is what is keeping you there until that time?

So sorry that you must spend your first months of married life commuting monthly.  You desreve to be together..rental units and jobs be damned.

  Thanks Gypsy, I wish it were as easy as all that. I really would move to Chicago in a heart beat if I could, but right now it just isn't feasible. Thanks for the kind words and CC and I will make it through the time away. Thank God for AT&T unlimited minutes and email. At least I get to hear the sound of his voice in the morning, laugh at him on the monkeys and talk to him at night.

Good Morning

I really want to thank all the monkeys for the prayers for my sister. She is diabetic and has other health problems and this was her 23rd surgery in 4 yrs. Every time she goes under a general I get more panicky. I might add that my other sister has the knowledge to do her packing and dressing changes and that gets her out of the hospital and away from a greater chance of infection. Thank God my other sister is healthy.

Hi Brandi !   My sister has vascular dementia and had a pancreatitis attack in October, which seemed to advance it considerably, in fact we thought we wasn't going to pull through it. 
She lives about 6 hr drive from me, been burning up the road every chance I get to spend time with her.  Not a very happy answer, eh~

Chemical signal in women’s tears a turnoff for men

WASHINGTON (AP) — If a crying woman’s red nose isn’t a big enough turnoff to a man, a surprising experiment found another reason: Tears of sadness may temporarily lower his testosterone level.

Those tears send a chemical signal as the man gets close enough to sniff them — even though there’s no discernible odor, say researchers from Israel’s Weizmann Institute of Science.

It’s the first such signal to be found in tears, and it’s probably not unique to women’s. Theirs just were the first to be studied.

“It’s hard to get men to volunteer to cry” in a lab, noted Weizmann neurobiologist Noam Sobel, senior author of the study appearing in Friday’s edition of the journal Science.

Emotional tears are chemically different from the reflex tears that form when you get dust in your eye. But biologists have long puzzled over the true function of emotional tears: Are they merely cathartic, or do they have some other physiological role?

Mice can produce a sort of tear that contains a pheromone, an odorless molecule that triggers basic instincts in many animals. So Sobel’s team tested whether human tears similarly can convey subliminal chemical signals through the nose. After all, we tend to hug a crying loved one, putting our nose near their tears.

First, some women volunteered to watch a sad movie in the lab and collect their tears in a vial. For a comparison, researchers trickled saline down the women’s cheeks and collected those droplets, too.

Healthy young men couldn’t smell a difference between the real tears and the sham ones.

Then came a series of tests: The men were given women’s photographs to rate. When they sniffed actual tears, they found the women less sexually attractive than when they sniffed saline. And to researchers’ surprise, sniffing actual tears didn’t make the men empathetic.

Also, saliva tests of testosterone levels found a dip in that hormone after they sniffed tears but not the salt water. Finally, when they sniffed tears and then watched a sad movie inside a brain-scanning MRI machine, the men showed less activity in neural networks associated with sexual arousal.

“We have never looked at tears in this way before,” said Dr. Esen Akpek of Johns Hopkins University’s Wilmer Eye Institute, who wasn’t involved with the new study. “This is really interesting.”

The findings make sense, she said, because the glands that secrete tears bear receptors, or docking ports, for sex hormones — a connection most clearly seen with dry eye, which is most common in postmenopausal women.

Why would our tears have evolved a “chemosignal” to function as a sign of sexual disinterest? It’s possible that’s a proxy for lowering aggression, acknowledged Sobel, who now is trying to identify the molecule doing the work.

For now his findings suggest “the signal is serving to time sexual behavior. It is a signal that allows its user to say, ‘Now is not the right time.’ I predict there are other signals that say, ‘Now it is,’” Sobel said. “This is just one of many chemosignals.”
