Hi all, I can understand hanging on to hope but at this point they have no basis in thinking she just walked away. I wonder what their logic is in this? Do they think that their daughter would just walk away from a home, family and a job? Especially since there is nothing leading anyone to believe this, no warning signs.  Again I say what the heck is wrong with the Utah LE ? They let this guy who should be a suspect walk away and taint a possible crime scene. Who is in their pockets? There are plenty of strangers and volunteers that are searching and trying to keep this alive, and yet Le is sitting on their butts doing Nada. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure this out. They say the husband is not cooperating or talking to them. wth... haul him in and make him talk. Has anyone talked to the children separate from their father? What was the stain? okay enough... I am making myself upset with this and I am trying to cut calories which means less wine! argh....

Husband of Missing Woman Returns to Utah

January 29, 2010
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - Josh Powell, the husband of a West Valley City woman who has been missing since Dec. 7, has returned to Utah after moving to Washington state with his two sons on Jan. 11. John Hellewell, a friend of Powell, told FOX 13 News he is back in Utah to find tenants to live in his West Valley City house. Hellewell said Powell has spoken very little about his wife and his new life in Washington, and that Powell is still holding out hope that Susan will be found.

"He called me last week some time [and] said he was going to be coming back and asked if I would pick him up," Hellewell said. "Originally, he was planning on coming back on Tuesday, but he said he hadn't gotten around to gettting a flight booked."

Friends say there are still several pieces of furniture inside the house, and that Josh plans to finish the basement and deck. Powell remains the only person of interest in the disappearance of Susan Powell, and police say he has not been cooperative. Investigators are aware Powell is back in West Valley City and they would like to talk to him.

Police impound car of missing Utah woman's husband for second search

January 29th, 2010 @ 6:10pm
By Sandra Yi

WEST VALLEY CITY -- Family and friends of Josh Powell -- the husband of missing woman Susan Powell -- told KSL News that Josh's car was impounded by police early Friday evening. They say investigators took the car for a second search on an existing warrant. Police have not yet confirmed this information.

Meanwhile, Josh is back in Utah. He returned to his West Valley City home Thursday night after moving to Washington earlier this month.

A close friend said Josh Powell is planning to rent out the house where he and Susan lived.

Friend and neighbor John Hellewell has kept in touch with Josh and talked to him on the phone several times last week. He gave Josh a ride from the airport around 9:30 Thursday night.

Good Evening Monkeys!

I have this problem with the cops in Utah....".We have invited him to come in and talk with us or for him to invite us up to Washington to speak with him"

Since when do you need an invitation to talk to a suspect in a possible murder? What ever happened to haul his azz in and get some answers. This is just plain rediculous. I think someone needs to call the FBI or somebody in

Police Search Van Of Missing Utah Woman's Husband
Josh Powell Staying With Family In Wash. State

POSTED: 9:12 pm EST January 29, 2010
UPDATED: 8:22 am EST January 30, 2010
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- Police in suburban Salt Lake City have searched a minivan belonging to the husband of a Utah woman who has been missing since early December.

West Valley City police Capt. Anita Schwemmer said investigators impounded Josh Powell's minivan on Thursday after obtaining a search warrant.

Susan Powell was last seen at home on Dec. 7. Josh Powell told police he saw his wife about 12:30 a.m. as he left with the couple's young sons for a winter camping trip on the Pony Express trail west of Salt Lake City.

Josh Powell, 34, has been called the sole person of interest in the case, but has not been arrested. He moved away from Utah weeks ago to stay with family in Washington state.

He was back in Utah on Friday to prepare his West Valley City home to sell or rent.

I don't think they want me to call them. My daughter is taking an ethics class and they were doing random statistics where it was stated most women are killed by there husbands. I asked her if they could discuss this case in class. I am interested to find out the results if they do. This is just frustrating. These cops cannot be that stupid. Something is up with this. Is it a religious thing? I am not trying to offend anyone's religion but it seems they are going way to easy on this guy.

LOOKS like it happened again.....

Susan Powell Update: Susan Powell Facebook page vanishes, not the first time

January 29, 11:51 PM

Today without warning and with no word from Facebook as to what happened one of the Susan Powell Facebook pages, like Susan Powell, mysteriously vanished, leaving family and friends devastated - and this is not the first time.

When asked what she thought happened, Kiirsi said in an email this evening, “I don’t know.”

The West Valley City Police Department was notified today. Kiirsi said, “The police are just as upset about it as we are.”

Kiirsi doesn't know for sure what they will do but says this will not be tolerated. Susan's family will consider issuing a press release involving media in putting pressure on Facebook.

Facebook has been less than cooperative when issues arose in the past.

Not the first time

This isn’t the only Susan Powell Facebook page to disappear.

On Jan. 14 the creator of the “Susan Powell” Facebook page, Leslie Bleak, was notified by Facebook that her page was taken down.

Bleak’s page had about 6,000 members and provided a place where people could share information without it being censored.

The Friends and Family of Susan Powell Facebook page administrators deleted posts that were speculative or abusive.

While there was speculation that Bleak’s page was removed at the urging of friends and family of Susan Powell, Shelby Gifford, a friend and spokeswoman for Susan Powell's parents, said the family did not complain to Facebook about Bleak's page.

Friends and family of Susan Powell were surprised when the page was removed and said they had no problems with the page being up. It was another way to spread the story of Susan’s disappearance.

Bleak has since created the SusanPowell 2 Facebook page that, as of this evening, has 131 members.

Prior to the removal of Bleak’s page by Facebook, both of the Susan Powell Facebook pages had received sexually explicit comments about Susan and posted pornographic pictures.

JoVonna Owings said in a phone conversation this evening, “A person signed onto the Friends and Family of Susan Powell Facebook page as Susan and said awful things. The ‘troll’ says he has a friend in high places at Facebook and he would take the site down.”

It is believed the same ‘troll’ recently warned Kiirsi that he/she had purchased the URLs to www.susanpowell.com, .net, and .org.

A search revealed the URLs had in fact been purchased years ago.

The susanpowell.com URL has been owned by Banyan Productions in Philadelphia since Feb. 3, 1999.

Threats he/she purchased susanpowell.net were also false. That URL is owned by Susan Powell in Tustin, Calif., is administered by Emerald Publications, and was created on Dec. 2, 2004.

The susanpowell.org URL was created July 16, 2006, and is registered privately.

However, that URL, and the others, were all created long before the threats were made by this ‘troll’.

JoVonna Owings clears up a misconception about the day Susan Powell disappeared

January 30, 2:22 AM

JoVonna Owings and Susan Powell were friends. Owings is the last person, other than Susan’s husband, Joshua Powell, to see Susan before she went missing nearly two months ago.

Police are frustrated at the lack of cooperation from Josh and are calling him the only person of interest in this case. Police are calling this a missing person’s case with “suspicious overtones."

JoVonna said, “Susan and I knew each other from church for about a year and became close friends about a month before she went missing. I was with her on the day she disappeared and I’ve often wondered what I could have done differently, is there something I should have seen or heard that would have raised a red flag?"

“The only thing that I thought was a little unusual was that Josh took so long to prepare brunch," she said, "Susan took the kids to church in the morning and walked home around noon. I came to their house for the afternoon to spend time with the family and to help Susan untangle some yarn."

“Josh had already started cooking before we got there and didn’t have the meal ready until about 4 p.m. I just figured he didn’t have much experience in the kitchen. When we did eat it was a pleasant meal. He made us scrambled eggs with onions and bell peppers and pancakes with cream cheese.”

JoVonna remembers things went well during their late brunch and that Josh and Susan showed no signs of trouble.

“Not long after we ate Susan was tired and wanted to take a nap,” Owings said.

“One misconception I’d like to clear up is that Susan did not say she was sick and she did not appear sick. She was just tired and wanted to rest for a little while."

She went on, “Josh said he’d take the kids out sledding while she rested, and I left at the same time he and the boys left, between 5 and 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 6.”

“I never went back into Susan’s room to tell her goodbye, something I have regretted not doing. Of course I never thought that might be the last time I’d ever see her."

JoVonna said she offered to bring the yarn back that evening but Josh said no, not to worry about it because Susan wouldn't get a chance to work on it until her next days off.

It was JoVonna's understanding Susan was taking a short nap, maybe 30 minutes to one hour, and she would be up to make dinner and get ready for the next day, which was Monday.

“Nothing seemed unusual that day. The family seemed happy, Josh seemed attentive to Susan. He played with the kids while Susan and I finished up with the yarn. He noticed she was chilled before brunch and brought her a blanket. He did the dishes so we could visit and finish with the yarn.”

JoVonna said one of the most important things to Susan as a mom was stability in her children’s lives. She felt they needed a routine they could count on, being only 2 and 4 years old.

JoVonna told Josh after Susan went missing that she knew how important this was to Susan. She said the week after Susan went missing Josh did put the children back in preschool/daycare for a week.

“I don’t see him looking for a job. Honestly, I think he feels more secure with his father there to shield him,” Owings said.

“I didn’t know them all that well as a couple so I can’t say if it was normal or not for him to take the kids camping. But I can say if it were me and my husband had wanted to take my kids camping in the middle of a snowstorm and in the middle of the night, I would have said ‘No way!’ From what I remember, when Josh did things with the kids he wasn’t gone very long.”

“A neighbor reported he heard the Powell’s car alarm go off at around 11 p.m. for about two minutes - that’s a very long time late at night. I’m surprised no one called the police. Women are taught to push the panic button to raise attention in an emergency situation and I have always wondered if that’s what Susan did the night she went missing.”

“I feel like Susan stepped into a black hole. I just can’t see Josh doing anything physically to hurt her. But then again people do things you wouldn’t expect them to, so who’s to say.”

“Whatever it is that’s happened to Susan, I don’t believe it something she’s doing. It’s something being done to her. She wouldn’t leave her kids - it’s not in her to walk away from her children.”

spring is coming soon, i have emailed some people that mine an treasure hunt in utah,
about this case, some not all said they would be on the watch, for a body, and they
told me some of the terrain is rough, you could go not far off a major road, drop a
body over the side of a canyon, and nature would take care of the rest, and since it was winter and when the snow melts and moves downward so does the debris.
some of the drops are steep, and then the veg. grows back and covers everything
i just dont think josh was smart enough for these types of details, unless he planned ahead
which it sounds like he didnt......or maybe he wants it to look that way

The LDS is involved here.. I deal with them all the time in the Boy Scouts of America.
Lots of Giggly stupid fools in that group.. There rules become a limitation and lack common sense in many cases.

LE in this case are stepping gently so as not to destroy this case against her husband.

IF Susan is alive ..produce her.
IF NOT then they are seeing to it that the culprit gets away with murder in my humble opinion.
Time destroys evidence and witness accounts.

He made brunch did he serve them all individually? Susan became tired after brunch, did he put something in her food to make her sleepy? Did he poison her? Did he give something as well to his boys to knock them out for the trip to dispose of the body? No one is talking about that stain, not even to clear it. Have the LE checked to see what Josh's recent purchases were? Did he purchase over the counter sleeping aids, or some extra anti-freeze, or arsenic? Why isn't the FBI involved? Maybe LE all are part of the Latter Day Saints and they are protecting Josh. If Susan was alive why didn't she take her purse or cell phone? I am not knocking her family but if this was my daughter I would be all over Josh, I would hire a P.I., and I would be down at the police station everyday!

Powell facebook page back online

Last Update: 7:06 am
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - It disappeared over the weekend, but as of Monday morning, Susan Powell's facebook page, which now boasts 45,000 members is back up and running.

Facebook removed the group page for technical reasons, but according to the Salt Lake Tribune, facebook also looked into claims that people were using the site to pose as Susan Powell.

Page administrators say about six people posed as Susan, and that some people even made threats against the women who helped create the group.
