WELAKA -- Myles Kirby Sykes, 61, a retiree of Florida Department of Agriculture, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002.

A native of Island Grove, he was a longtime resident of Hawthorne. Mr. Sykes was a member of First Baptist Church of Fruitland Park.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Annette Sykes, Welaka; son, Ronald Cummings, Crescent City; stepson, Donald Squires, Crescent City; daughters, Teresa Neves, Lady Lake, Melanie Kintzler, Oakfield, Wis., and Crystal Cummings, Wildwood; brothers, Thomas Sykes, Ocala, William Sykes, Opelika, Ala., and James Sykes, Marianna; sisters, Margie Boles, Gainesville, Berniece Woodward, Micanopy, Frances Coullette, Jacksonville, Glenda Miller, Texas and Cora Sue Price, Island Grove; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Masters Funeral Home, Palatka, provided information.

The way the day is going, little boy in Albuqueque has been identified, mother arrested. Looks very close to finding little Tori's remains, could be Stacey P or Lisa S body found in Illinois, it would not surprise me.

Waiting to get another update, they weaned him quite a bit from his oscillator and oxygen needs last night and according to my daughter they hope to have him on CPAP within 24 -36v hrs, which is a HUGE step! So far, so good.........but, as always I will continue to ask for prayers!!

IM, remind me how premie was he at birth, and how old is he now??

He was a 23 weeker, and he is 8 weeks old today...........he's had pneumonia, heart surgery where they had to collapse his lung and NEC twice and a IVH so far, and yet he still keeps fighting and has great motor skills so far.

And so shall he... lethal injection.......  Don't know what the f....... is wrong with people.. Murder of children, murder of wives, drugs, abuse, always angry and wanting to start a fight, look at the blind woman attacked on the bus..  is it in the water??

Tell you.. the best way I deal with people..  I go outside and dig up bushes and garden.. by the time I come in, I have forgotten what the mad was all about.  Going to hit the news and see if something is going to happen in Florida today.....

Thursday, May 21, 2009 3:32 pm, Thursday, I received a telephone call from private investigator/bondsman/surety agent William Eugene "Cobra" Staubs.  The man was obviously shaken.

Staubs told me he had been informed by an offical at the Putnam County Florida Sheriff's Office that a warrant for his arrest would be on the teletype within the hour.

After a second or two of silence, I asked Staubs why on earth would he be wanted by the sheriff's office.  Staubs told me the that warrant was for false imprisonment.

I remembered that Staubs was accused of illegally detaining a Putnam County man who was free on bail on a sex abuse charge several weeks ago.

Last month, deputies say Staubs apprehended and handcuffed William Snodgrass, 55, who in 2007 was charged with capital sexual battery of a 9-year-old girl. Snodgrass was held for an hour, deputies added.

The allegation was being reviewed by local prosecutors until apparently now.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office has not returned our calls.

Staubs told me he will be tuning himself in at the Putnam County Jail Friday at 9 am ET.

Staubs added that he plans to be out of jail within minutes of his surrender and will be attending the Blue Crab Festival in Palatka this weekend.
