Why would Terri not have been forthcoming regarding her whereabout on the day Kyron went missing?  Why did authorities have to discover the deception through cell phone records?

In my opinion ... a public plea for information rather than a questionaire would have sufficed but ... we are not privy to the underlying motives of LE.

I just pray that answers are on the way.

I am NOT defending the step mom in any way at all. I'm just offering a theory or two...could she be having an affair? Maybe that's why she lied about her whereabouts. Or maybe she has a drug problem and needs to hide that from police and her husband. Maybe one of those issues is tied in with what happened to Kyron.....

We know Kyron was at school that morning....right? Don't the photos  confirm that he at least made it to the science fair? Also...doesn't she also have a toddler? Where was her baby that morning?

I just can't figure out what's going on with this family. They seem very.very strange.

Apologies for posting in color previously. Wink

I want to explore the possible affair angle.  What if her cell pinged near SI because she was meeting her lover there or near there? Didn't someone say there's a nude beach there? Would it be a good place to meet a secret lover? It sure would explain the "perceived" ambiguity of her whereabouts during the day. And given the timeline of when TH and KH got together in comparison to KH's divorce from Desiree, it would appear that perhaps KH and TH themselves began their relationship as an affair. People who have affairs don't usually stop at having one.

All that said, I"m wondering if there is an affair partner and whether or not HE might be a POI, especially if TH has been trying to break it off.

So much hinkyness here.

This site is driving my batty today!

Deenie it is the questions that go along with this flyer. I have a question for Jess. What do you think of this flyer and these questions? Do you think legally it is a smart move if they are pointing to the step mom as a possible POI?

I actually think this is great. He must be darn tootin' sure it is her. I wonder if Kyron forgot his homework that morning.

There is no way to figure out what the police is doing with these questions, because the answers to them could either involve or clear the step-mom of a crime.

-----

I would also like to know why SM would lie about her whereabouts that day, if she knew her account of what happened was of the utmost importance to help in finding "her" child?

IF she is the one that Mr. Kelly described, what would she be doing on his road? At 2:00am?

I am theorizing here that the police did not provide the live-in escort until after the next day and not that night of the day he disappeared.

With this going on, the looking out for truck sightings, I am going to guess that the truck was hauled out not for starter failure or dead battery.

BTW, A dead battery does not warrant a towing. One gets a "jump", or one buys a battery and drops it in. I am a woman and have done that myself a few times.

This questionare sure does make it seem like that doesn't it? We see a pic of Kyron, a pic of the truck and a pic of the step mom all on the same page with questions asking about where she was that day and if anyone saw anything suspicious. Yep it certainly makes you wonder if LE is pointing to her as the POI in this case.

Speculations are One thing. Concrete Evidence is Another.

Is the local LE allowing the Media to drive this Campaign against Terri Moulton Horman?
I don't understand the speculatives being thrown out .........

She is or is not - a POI. This has gone way beyond the figurative .. Its not that they are playing her in the media for the last 48 hours. They have been accusing her since June 8th. What gives? They cannot figure out since then if they have enough evidence ?  Yet they can " throw her to the Media" and let it broil for all to make their assumptions - upon ?? tid bits of information from Local LE.  Again I am just offering.
For instance - the case of Gardner with Chelsea King ..then to lead to Amber. He was made a POI " News/Media" and soon arrested promptly - due to they had evidence.

Where is the evidence against Terri ? Again I am not standing on a soapbox for Terri's innocence. I am yet bringing it to mention - Nothing has been said or stated by LE/FBI that she is a POI. Yet the Media and LE are slowly crucifying her without offering tangible reason of WHY?
Seems to be a powder keg ..just waiting for the wick to be lit. And it's not going to be pretty. They are ramping up the Public - with bits and pieces and nothing to really be stated on Kyron nor his whereabouts - Or what is known...truthfully within the investigation.

An observation from the trenches -- Was Kyron seen?  Was his stepmother and her truck observed?

I work in a school and days like the one Kyron went missing, in which the science fair was taking place, are a logistical nightmare!  Children, parents, observers, and faculty all add to the chaos of the normally chaotic first of the morning routines.

Many times I have tried to recall whether I saw a specific student or teacher from the early morning (pre-bell) time and couldn't remember whether it was that day or a previous one.

What I am getting at is that memories, especially under the circumstances of the day Kyron went missing, may be faulty.  This survey, I believe, is a way of getting anyone who was present to concentrate on their memory of that day and what they actually saw and what they may have been remembering from anyone of 190 previous school days.

I am looking through the photos at this sitehttp://www.cbsnews.com/2300-504083_162-10003676.html?tag=page and am curious if Kyron's science project that day was the one with the seeds or the one with the red eyed tree frog.  The photos aren't dated; I wish they were.  I find it odd that they aren't since that is a default setting on most cameras.

Hoping that they find the little fella soon.

I think it was mentioned his project concerned frogs..

<snipped>
Some tips have reached into Washington state, he said, without elaborating. At the same time, he expressed frustration that some people have called in nonsensical tips. "Since he did his science fair project on tree frogs," Gates said, "they'll call and say, 'He went to live with the tree frogs.' It wastes a lot of time."
<end snipped>

Also, I know I take the setting off for the timestamp.. I hate having it on there when I get them printed.. however it may be different when you have children, since it helps track the days/years of holidays and events that are being captured.

We all use color from time to time. The Mods use Big Bold Color Fonts when they want something to be read and understood - as a 911 post- which is infrequent - So when you see it - "You will know" But using color within your own posts is not forbidden. General rule of thumb here is to " offer your source" with a link. Never offer up hear say - without backup - offer the link that you find the info.  Never copy and paste commentary from another source without the link. No swearing, no attacking, being objective is welcomed, and offering your opinion is important. What ever you can offer for the case - your posting within - offer, go for it. Basically I think you already know all of what I typed above. Just for you to know though. You can use color. Its not an issue. Welcome Mediamama to Scared Monkeys.

Deenie-  Yes, some color may be used to highlight  a word or sentence/phrase within a post.  However, (and I know you are trying to be helpful) but posting in color is an issue if the entire post is in color.  It was decided by Klaasend to ask posters to stop posting full posts in color for a couple of reasons, one being it is difficult for some of our posters with eye problems to read, and another is color is intended for admin and moderators to call attention to and give direction.  I edited Mediamama's post and left an edit comment because monkeys aren't supposed to be posting entire posts in color.  I'm sorry you may have misunderstood this Deenie, but we went through a period of transition and I don't want to start it all over again.

Yes, it does.  I have never seen anything like this in my life.  Yes, it is all connected and illustrated (even if you can't read
English) you would have an understanding of the picture story. This Sherriff doesn't have time to dilly-dally.

Sorry, Tracygirl, I wasn't clear. In my thinking of SM & KH (leaving early for the science exhibit) and in the shuffle, curious, if Kyron forgot his school books or nightly homework, and would that have set SM off to have to return to the house for his school work?

I shouldn't have bought that up, I don't wish to start rumors.  I would have forgotten something in my excitement of attending the Science Fair (with your own little exhibit), that was pretty nifty.

Family of Kyron Horman Prepares for First Fathers Day Without Him
Kyron Horman Has Been Missing For Two Weeks
June 18, 2010

The family of missing 7-year-old Kyron Horman said today they are preparing for their first fathers day without him, while a police flyer seeking information appears to target the boy's stepmother.
At a press conference today, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Capt. Jason Gates dispelled rumors that Kyron had been found and said that the search is still ongoing.

"[Kyron] has not been found yet and the community needs to keep looking for him," said Gates. "Kyron we are still looking for you."

"We are continuing a second canvas of the teachers, staff, volunteers, students and parents or anyone who came to the school the day Kyron went missing," said Gates.

Gates read a statement from the Horman family, thanking authorities for their hard work and chronicling their heartbreak after two weeks without word from their young son.

"It has been two weeks since our son Kyron disappeared," said the statement. "For the last 14 days we have not been able to talk to him see him playing around the house or tuck him in bed. Any parents would understand the grief that this causes our family."
"Father's day is Sunday. For the first time in seven years we won't have Kyron around to talk to. It hurts us deeply and our hearts are broken," it said.

Kyron's plight has put an unwelcome spotlight on the family. Earlier this week, the boy's uncle, Kristian Horman, 32, was taken into custody in Washington state following his conviction earlier in the week on charges of child molestation in the third degree. Officials say he had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female relative. He will serve six months in prison.

The three-page flyer released by the sheriff's office is seeking information from anyone who was at the school or had children at the school where Kyron was last seen on June 4.

In addition to photographs of Kyron, the flyer has several images of his stepmother, Terri Horman, who was the last person to see the boy.

Questions on the flyers include "Did you see Kyron and if so where" and also asks if they saw his mother or her white Ford truck on that day.

Link to view the flyer: http://abcnews.go.com/Site/page?id=10955689

Search for Kyron Horman Expands

The flyers come on the heels of the construction earlier this week of 30 large billboards with Kyron's smiling, bespectacled face, the words "Endangered Missing."

The billboards were donated by Clear Channel "to help get the message out to bring Kyron home," according to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

"We're still waiting for that one tip. That one tip that will bring Kyron home," Multnomah County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lt. Mary Lindstrand said earlier this week.

Lindstrand characterized the investigation as "moving forward" but declined to provide further details. Tips from the public continue to come in on "a consistent basis" she said, but didn't provide an exact number.

One tip arrived in the mail written on a postcard, Lindstrand said.
Police said dive teams continued searching bodies of water near where Kyron disappeared. Investigators including members of the sheriff's major crimes team and the FBI  are canvassing a four mile radius around Kyron's school and re-interviewing parents, students and school employees.

Lindstrand said sheriff's officials are in regular contact with Kyron's parents, who have declined interviews.

"They said, 'We don't want our faces out there. We want Kyron's face out there,'" she said.

Police declared the case a criminal investigation Sunday and since Monday have refused to grant any interviews or provide regular updates.

Lindstrand held a brief press conference today outside a sheriff's building because she said investigators want to keep the public interested in the case.
"America's Most Wanted" to Feature Kyron Horman

Lindstrand also said the television show "America's Most Wanted" is currently preparing a story on Kyron's case.

Kyron disappeared on the morning of June 4, after he and his stepmother Terri Horman attended a school science fair where Kyron had displayed a project on red tree frogs. His stepmother said she last saw Kyron walking down a hallway toward his classroom.
When Kyron didn't come home on the bus that Friday afternoon, his parents called the school, which in turn called 911, launching what Gates said could be the largest search operation in Oregon history.

Approximately 1,300 searchers in the field were joined by 213 additional investigators from 42 different agencies from California , Oregon and Washington. A National Guard helicopter also joined in the search.

Many of the search teams have packed up and headed home, although a small number of local teams will be on call in case there are any new leads or developments.
Kyron's family has only appeared twice in public since he disappeared. On Friday, his stepfather made an emotional plea for his return.

"You mean everything to us," said his stepfather Tony Young. "And until you come home this family's not complete. Please Kyron, keep up the hope."

For many people here, the distinction between a missing persons case and a criminal one is irrelevant since Kyron is still nowhere to be found.

"It has not changed our focus," family friend Becky Owens said. "Our focus has been and will continue to be finding Kyron. So it doesn't change what we're doing, getting his face out to as many people as possible."

Hi ALL!  I am really torn in lieu of this new news. I have defended Terri (the step-mom) because I could not wrap my brain around her doing something this horrible. It is easier to put a deranged monster in this story, than a mom who has raised a family, been a school teacher, and lives in a nice home. Now I do not know what to think.  Did they find cell pings of her near the search area? Why would she lie? Is it something else like an affair?
The flyers scare me. They are suggestive and I have never seen tactics like this before. These flyers could create a mob mentality and Terris Horman's life might be in danger. What the heck was LE thinking? If she is guilty or a suspect bring her in for questioning and a lie detector test. I hope to God she is not guilty but if she is it scares me even more. Where were the signs? Is she a sociopath? Were there any warning signs leading up to this. In the Case with C.A. she is a compulsive liar and narcissist. I now wonder  about Terri Horman.

Deputies Seek Info About Kyron Horman's Stepmom
Captain Dispels Rumors
June 18, 2010

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Deputies said they released a questionnaire that asks about Kyron Horman's stepmother "in hope that it helps jog people's memory" of the day the 7-year-old vanished from a northwest Portland school.

The three-page form, given to Skyline Elementary School staff members, was released to the public Friday. Pictures of Kyron Horman; his stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman and a white pickup truck, similar to the one Moulton Horman drove the day Kyron disappeared, appear on the form.

In a news conference Friday, Multnomah Capt. Jason Gates said the Horman family fully supported releasing the questionnaire.

"We want Kyron home and we hope that this will do that," Gates said while reading a statement from the second-grader's family.

Read Statement

Deputies said the form should be filled out by anyone -- teachers, school employees, delivery persons, parents -- who was at Skyline School or its grounds at any time between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. June 4. Parents who weren't at Skyline that day are instructed to fill out the form with their child, if they were present.

The form asks both children and adults if they saw Kyron the day he disappeared and, if so, where he was seen and who he was with. It goes on to ask "At any time did you see Terri Horman at or near the school?" and "At any time did you see a White Ford F250 truck at or near the school?"

Gates said Moulton Horman is "associated with case because she was the last person to see Kyron." The sheriff's office has not named any persons of interest or suspects in the criminal investigation.

Deputies asked the form be returned June 20 between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. at Skyline School. The questionnaire should be filled out even if people have already been interviewed by detectives.

Kyron was last seen two weeks ago after a morning science fair. The case became a criminal investigation Sunday and hundreds of search crews from around the state were sent home.

Deputies Dispel Rumors

Gates swatted down rumors that authorities found Kyron and fingered social media as the source of the erroneous reports.

"He has not been found yet and the community needs to keep looking for him. Kyron, we are still looking for you," he said. "We don't want false rumors to harm our investigation efforts and it is harmful to Kyron's family."

Police ask for info about Kyron Horman's stepmom
June 18, 2010

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Investigators trying to find missing Oregon boy Kyron Horman have released a flier asking the public if they saw the boy’s stepmother near Portland's Skyline School on the day he vanished.

A questionnaire sent to all staff, delivery drivers and students' parents at Skyline included questions such as, "Did your child see Kyron's step-mom, Terri on 6/4/10, at or near the school?" It also asked, "Did your child see a white Ford F250 pickup truck on 6/4/10 at or near the school?"

Terri Horman was driving the white truck on the day Kyron disappeared. The questionnaire also showed photos of Terri and the truck.

Multnomah County Capt. Jason Gates said during a press conference Friday that the photos and questions were an effort to "jog people's memory" in the case, since Terri was the last person who saw Kyron alive.

Gates added that the family was in full support of the decision to circulate the new questionnaire Friday.

Gates also read a statement by the family, that said, “Any parent would understand the grief that this causes our family… please know that we fully support the release of this flier and we want Kyron home and we hope that this will do that."

Gates refused to comment about any possible suspects or "persons of interest" in the case.

The 7-year-old went missing after a morning science fair. His absence was reported that afternoon, when he failed to return home on a school bus and his stepmother contacted the school.

The case is attracting more media attention. Kyron's case will be featured on "America's Most Wanted" this weekend while searchers continue to focus on areas in and around Sauvie Island.

From KGW's Sky 8 helicopter, searchers in wetsuits were seen moving through waist-high water while someone on shore provided directions. A dive team searched swamps and ponds around the rural NW Portland area, and crews also searched around the Multnomah Channel. Investigators would not say what led them to this area, but they've searched the island now for nearly a week.

This week's issue of "People" magazine also shows a photo of Kyron on the cover and features an article about his case. In addition, 30 billboards were going up across Oregon with Kyron's photo and tipline.  Police hope the extra attention will bring even more tips and clues for them to follow up on.

Police said the tips continue to pour in, but stopped short of sharing specifics.

Hoping to spark someone's memory and get new tips in the case, police recently created and circulated photos of Kyron without his glasses. The hope was that it would help people see what Kyron would look like if he was no longer wearing them.  They also previously shared photos of Kyron's glasses and replicas of the clothing he was wearing when he disappeared.

While strangers continued to try and reach out in any way possible, police warned that scammers were targeting some people by asking for donations to a bogus support fund. Anyone approached in person or over the phone for donations should first check with police to determine if they're legitimate.

On Monday, the lead officer in the investigation into Kyron Horman’s disappearance vowed to stay on the case until it’s solved, despite scaling back search operations.

“This will not become a cold case for us,” Capt. Jason Gates promised during the Monday morning press conference.

On Sunday, authorities announced that the search and rescue operation had officially transformed into a criminal investigation after 10 days of searching with no sign of Kyron.

$25,000 reward offered

An emotional Sheriff Dan Staton announced a $25,000 reward for any information that leads to the location of Kyron.

"The investigation is going in many directions and the criminal investigation is a natural progression," said Staton.

Anyone who has seen Kyron or knows of his whereabouts was asked to call (503) 261-2847.

Kyron Horman, Age 7, Still Missing: Step Mom's Facts Allegedly Inconsistent
June 18, 2010

Kyron Horman, age 7, is still missing. He disappeared from Skyline Elementary School in Portland, Oregon on the morning of June 4. If you have any information about his disappearance, call the tip line at 503-261-2847.

Terri Horman: Kyron's Step Mom Last to See Him

The last person to see Kyron was his stepmother, Terri Horman. Today police distributed an e-mail questionnaire to all parents of students at Skyline Elementary School, staff members at the school, and school delivery vehicle drivers. KGW reports that the questionnaire asked questions about if Terri Horman was seen at the school they day Kryon disappeared and if her truck was seen there.

Did Kyron Leave School with Step Mother?

There are reports that several teachers saw Kyron leave the school with his step mother. Help Find My Child reports that "Portland Public Schools spokesman Matt Shelby said two teachers saw Kyron with his mother and thought the two left school together."

Typically, in most schools, if a parent wants to take a child out of the school building after they have arrived in school they must inform the main office and sign the child out. It seems security was very lax at Skyline Elementary school on the day of the science fair. A child has disappeared and there is not a clue as to what may have happened to him.

People is reporting that "Law enforcement sources, who are not directly involved with the investigation, tell the local newspaper that Horman's story does not match her cell phone records, which reportedly reveal she may have been on nearby Sauvie Island."

Investigators Search Sauvie Island

In recent days the search for Kyron seems to focus on Sauvie Island. KGW reports that their helicopter news team has spotted a police dive team there. Investigators have been there for 4 days.

Distribute a Missing Poster of Kyron Harmon

To print out a MISSING poster of Kyron Horman go HERE

If Kyron was abducted he could now be anywhere in America or the world. Please help out in the search for Kyron by looking at his missing poster and printing it out to post it and distribute it.

How Will Skyline Elementary IncreaseSchool
Security?

There is an exit door to a back parking lot close to Kyron's classroom. It is not protected by security. In this day and age, how can any school have doors that open to the outside world that are not kept locked or monitored? There are a lot of predators in this world. They look for opportunity for crime. An unlocked school door is an extreme hazard.

School has now ended for the year at Skyline Elementary School. What will September and the new school year hold for this school? Will Kyron be back in school? Or will his disappearance still remain an unsolved mystery?

Kyron Horman: So Happy at Science Fair

It is easy to tell from the photo taken of him at the Science Fair that Kyron was a happy boy that day. In the photo of Kyron in front of his exhibit he has a big smile and looked very excited about his project. His project was also meticulously prepared. Kyron's parents surely spent a lot of time with him, helping him create a visually appealing project.

One question does arise about the family though, since Kyron was expected to be at the talent show later in the after the science fair, how come no one from the family attended the show and noticed that Kyron wasn't there? There are many unanswered questions in this case.

Prayers to Kyron and all of the missing children in America.

Lindsey Baum's mother offers support to Kyron Horman's family
June 18, 2010

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Most parents don't know what it's like to have a child disappear.

Unfortunately for Melissa Baum, that's not the case.

"Until it happens to you," Baum told KING 5,"you don't have a clue."

Baum's 10-year-old daughter Lindsey vanished while walking home from a friend's house in McCleary, Wash., last June.

Melissa Baum recently wrote an email to the family of the missing 7-year-old from Oregon, Kryon Horman. Baum wanted the family to know there was someone nearby who could relate to what they were going through.

That was something she needed last year.

"I felt a lot more alone before I met with other families," said Baum.

Baum has not heard back from the Horman family.

On Friday, investigators began to ask the public for more information about Kyron's stepmother. She was the last person to see Kyron.

Baum said that does not surprise her. She said in the first days after her daughter's disappearance, investigators asked her to take a polygraph test. She agreed.

"I tried to be pretty open and honest," said Baum, "Because my focus was, don't waste [their] time. Find my kid."

Next Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of Lindsey's disappearance.

Kyron Horman's family has been invited to join Lindsey's loved ones as they mark the anniversary in Olympia.

Lindsey's friends and family will be gathering in Olympia's Heritage Park from 2-8pm Saturday, June 26.

Wash. mom missing daughter knows Horman family pain
June 18, 2010

Lindsey Baum, the daughter of Melissa Baum, disappeared in McLeary, Wash., on June 26th a year ago. On Friday, she sent a letter to the Horman family. Here is a link to Lindsey Baum's search efforts and an excerpt from Melissa Baum's letter. (When I clicked on "Here is the link" in the article I was led to : http://lindseybaum.com/

I know there is absolutely nothing that I can say or do to take away the heartache and pure anguish you are feeling, so I won't insult you with an attempt to do so.

I will only say how truly sorry I am that you have been forced to join a club that shouldn't even exist. It's a club of heartbroken and forever changed parents whose children have been stolen away from them.

Although, nothing anyone can say short of "We found him, he's alive and safe" can possibly comfort you; I found for myself that it does help in some way to know, speak to or meet others who have or are going through the same ordeal. I think because they are the only ones on earth that could possible know or understand what you are going though.

I am praying that Kyron just wondered off somewhere and will be found safely, and don't let ANYONE tell you that isn't likely or spit "statistics" at you.

Whether that is what has happened or not, never give up hope, and determination to find your son.  I have found through all of this that my faith is strong, it has been tested daily just getting out of bed but it is there and what has kept me going. Without it, I don't think I would still be here typing the email to you now.

All I can say is if she did this, just about every step mother in America is going to hate this woman more then anything! It is difficult enough to be a step mom without stories like these. I have to say though, I have been a step mom, never would I hurt my step kids, I love them. My sons though were not so lucky. Their previous step mother was not the nicest person to them. Glad she is out of the pic!

I have defended her because there was nothing more then speculation, no proof of anything, sort of still like that if you think about it. We have this flyer now that doesn't leave one with any other impression then they are looking at her. Yet we have the family statement saying they support this and the way the statement is written, Terri supports it too. I am still not sure what LE is doing so I am going to wait. I think there is more then meets the eye on this one. I am still not ready to jump on the step mom did this band wagon.

I don't like the flyer though. It makes me feel uncomfortable that LE could do this.

This site is driving my batty today!

Deenie it is the questions that go along with this flyer. I have a question for Jess. What do you think of this flyer and these questions? Do you think legally it is a smart move if they are pointing to the step mom as a possible POI?

I think it is an extremely smart move for a number of different reasons, mostly strategic.  Since I use them often in my practice, and am aware of other cases in which they are being used, i prefer not to detail the reasons.  Sorry.
